Correction: A couple times in Pavlov and once in Population One I said "trigger" button when I meant to say "grip" button. Update: Pimax has informed me they are still working on a thumbstick version of the controllers!

First review of the sword controllers I’ve seen. Interesting that Pimax allow your channel to be the first even tough there are bigger channels. Good review

Has the Finger tracking been added yet?
@blizado36753 жыл бұрын
With Thumbstick and working finger tracking they could be a very good Index alternative.
@rtyzxc3 жыл бұрын
As reverb g2 user, I'd 100% prefer the form factor of the Swords over Index bananas, but no thumbstick is just not acceptable. Controller compatibility is going to be even worse than the g2 controllers.

Shame it could've been a great set, unfortunately the designer went full retarded and choose touch pad over thumbstick.

Just as I thought, vive wands are usually toggle grip. So I will be spending alot of time in the steam input bindings.

Do the rings interfere with each other when you hold a handgun or pistol with 2 hands?
@NextGenVR3 жыл бұрын
Not really. I have no issues with two handed weapons.
@terribleatmosphere61722 жыл бұрын
If it had finger tracking the controllers would be amazing but they are just vive wands with a better grip button
@jordirapper3 жыл бұрын
No analog ............................ whyyyyyyyyy? Also the rings are HUGE. And finally what is the point of the grip like knuckles when you have a grip button?? The whole thing about strapping it to your wrists is because they wanted to make throwing stuff in VR more natural. Now you mixed both the Quest and Index controllers. It makes no sense.

Missing button and no thumbstick, no chance of being successful. What a shame and waste of time/money, no one will buy these.

I got new information from Pimax today that they are still working on a thumbstick version, so looking forward to that one!

The design of those pimax controllers are ridiculous as the designs of their headsets, which looks like a coffin/hammerhead shark

I really don't get why Pimax couldn't deliver thumb stick controllers 🙆
@_Dibbler_3 жыл бұрын
They said they will also make controllers with thumb sticks and AB buttons next. Probably only half a decade and they will be available....These controllers here are pretty pointless to be honest
@TrevorJones13 жыл бұрын
@@_Dibbler_ Agreed I was waiting on the joystick version for 4 years.
@Smash_ter3 жыл бұрын
That's explained in the OpenMR blog but TLDR SteamVR is poopy and difficult to make 3rd party designs similar to the index controllers. Only thing they could use was the Vive inputs which are more open source than the knuckle design
@_Dibbler_3 жыл бұрын
@@Smash_ter so why did they do it? Just for the sake of having their own controllers? Making something good and what people want was never the target then?
@Smash_ter2 жыл бұрын
@@_Dibbler_ Apologies for not replying sooner, but from what I can think of it helps to have more controllers for SteamVR users to choose from, but not a lot of companies are invested into making controllers for SteamVR but rather make their own ecosystem with their own controller layout, or make their own PCVR headsets that are SteamVR compatible. If it were up to me, I'd want to make controllers similar to the Oculus Touch layout with the thumb rest area of the controller real estate be occupied by a smaller trackpad.

They probably feel lighter because Pimax uses really shitty plastics and the internals are probably poor as well, the fact they've been developing these things for like a year or two and the finger tracking still doesn't work is pure Pimax through and through lol, will it ever work ? Who knows
@NextGenVR3 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. The build quality feels premium. They are only slightly lighter than the Index controllers, but I think the main reason they feel better in my hands is the distribution of weight is different.

@@NextGenVR you got to admit, he is on point about the finger tracking though. How are they allowing reviews of this product, when it still is not even a fully functioning, sellable product haha. Love my 8KX, but geez, this is such a pimax move haha. xD
@drmikehuntphd79053 жыл бұрын
@@granthartley lol true, they are such a crap company. Their eye tracking module that doesn't work but they still sell is another good example.

@@drmikehuntphd7905 haha also true. I still have an ET module at home, in an unopened box, purely because of the word of mouth that it doesn’t work properly. Which reminds me, I need to sell it lol. Considering how fragile the Index controllers are while also being extraordinarily heavy, the swords are much better form factor. Even has replaceable battery.
@mr.spongylikeaboss49873 жыл бұрын
Complete waste of money. Index controllers are far better.
