I hope they do something for us folks with bad vision (which is actually a large amount of people). Either make wearing glasses more comfortable with those devices, or perhaps they can adjust the settings depending on what your vision is like, so you can input your prescription info and make it adjust based on that. I wouldn't mind paying extra for a variant thats glasses friendly or something like that. I played with some friends a while ago, for like 15 minutes, some kind of shooter game, and it was honestly amazing. But I couldn't wear my glasses, and my vision was as bad as in real life

That way you can get the feel of wearing a racing helmet, use a neck brace for some support, and don't have to have a face interface, as the helmet would suspend the headset just far enough away from the face. I had a realization using VR goggles for the first time; the environment was the inside of an enormous, impressive church. But after a minute I noticed that I was only impressed with the technology - the actual experience of being in a huge amazing church was almost meaningless. I've been in some beautiful churches, including st paul's basilica. I'm not christian, but I've always been awed by the interiors of churches. I think the source of this awe is the fact that a real church dominates me. Real churches are made from millions of kilograms of stone; if a church shattered and fell on me, I would die. A VR church does not dominate me. I think some of the most literally awesome environments a human can experience are ones which dominate us - and our brains know that VR environments have no dominance over us. VR certainly seems superior to screens. I am only stating what I feel I've realized is a significant distinction between VR and reality.

You could maybe attach some pulleys with tension to the ceiling as a way of reducing the perceived weight. Just a thought.

My crystal light was DOA with bad lenses along with many many others. all these youtubers overhype the hello outa the pcl Me and 3 other friends all had defective lenses and replacements did not fix a thing. They purposely send KZbinrs hand picked sets free of issues but the regular consumer gets the bottom end unless you are lucky. 3 headsets, 5 different lens sets amongst us. Still terrible. Stay away from pimax.

@@ventidgetv8931 That's terrible. Did you eventually get it resolved, or did none of the replacements help?
@ventidgetv89312 ай бұрын
@Slavolko nothing resolved the issue. They have bad Quality control. They even made a statement saying the improved QC by 90% yet plenty of people are getting defective units. Scroll the the pimax forum and about 80% of post are people complaining about barrel distortion or lenses issues. I returned my headset and ordered the new focus vision. Along with the somnium vr1 I have a headset problem lol Quest 3 Quest pro Index Big screen beyond Pimax Quest 3/Index are still my dailys

OK, you've talked about how comfortable the headsets are to wear, but how are your eyes? Do they get tired or sore after prolonged use (1+ hour.) I'm old enough to remember how CRTs ruined eyes and moving to LCD screens was a massive improvement, but I'm not convinced having the screen a couple of centimetres from your eyes is a good thing...

Not to mention Pimax has a lot of bad reviews. Their headsets seam to be hit or miss on weather you get one with a ton of issues or not. Considering how many issues I have with the "mainstream" Quest 3 headset I don't want to risk spending $2000 on what could turn out to be a fancy paperweight.

I'd love Pro 2 with eye tracking and oleds+ wireless. so sad that they discontinued that. tbh I don't care about pass-through, hand tracking and xr games, nor I need a stand alone. pimax lacks in qc, wireless. somnium is very expensive like apple 😢

Videos like this give me so much hope for VR as a medium. As a long-time experienced VR user, I obviously want to see the technology boom and see mass adoption of it. I see so many people shitting all over VR headsets and VR games in general without ever trying it, and it really does suck because all it does is push the narrative that VR is just some gimmick or that it's not worth it. But sometimes I see stuff like this, where someone who's relatively new or completely new to VR gets into it and suddenly sees the same magic that I did when I got into it. It's something special and unfortunately for those who can't or won't give it a shot, it's not really something that can be accurately described, only experienced.

I'm glad you pointed out some of the flaws with the Crystal Light, the tracking issue is pretty poor and apparently Pimax are quite difficult to deal with in post-sales support.. I was going to get the Crystal Light (coming from a Reverb G2 and a CV1 before that) - but I think I can wait until the next iteration, which hopefully will solve a lot of these issues.. (weight/bulk/tracking/FOV/etc)...

FoV claims are always up in the air. They can sort of calculate what it COULD be, but the greater the distance between your eye and the lens, the lower the FoV. Also rarely takes into account other important factors, like binocular overlap.

Honestly at the price its probably better to stick with Quest 3 if you already have one. While yes the resolution is not as good, its still very manageable. But ironically because it has less pixels to worry about, it can maintain a pretty high framerate without needing a NASA grade PC to back it up. The beauty of the Quest 3 is how easy it is to use for everyone while still providing good resuts and it still holds up

Why's the movement so jerky and shaky like a camera? Your eyes and brain don't jerk around like a shaky cam. IRL perception is incredibly smooth. Also, this video is clearly a professional businesses' marketing ploy...trying to look like it's just some independent "youtuber" reviewing something new. This is an advert made to look like an "influencer" review of a new product. Rant incoming: For those who still are clueless somehow, these days there are tons of "digital marketing" companies who actively hire actors to make social media content on behalf of companies, given scripts and so on to try and pretend it's actual "influencers" independently making videos and giving you their real opinions. I had job interviews for two companies like this last year and it was a shock just how fake everything is now becoming as corporate culture is pretty much 100% taking over the entire internet along with industries from music, movies and streaming shows to even the job market itself. I just read reports about how 1/3 of all adults looking for jobs have been scammed by fake job listings and so on as major recruitment websites are being overrun with scam listings that lure people in to just giving them all their personal information, which is now the most profitable resource in the world. Even most legitimate businesses now are just doing anything they possibly can to trick us into giving them more and more personal "data" because they earn billions selling it around the world to literally anyone including actual scammer organizations (it is by no means always hackers taking it).
@willmcclard206Ай бұрын
it’s shaky because you are essentially watching from his own eyes and head. Every single twitch will be picked visible. We don’t notice these twitches and small movements because our eyes naturally stabilize the vision with respect to our head (ex: look at your eyes in the mirror and shake your head side to side or up and down). Also at the beginning he was touching his headset causing it to shake more
@pracalt1051Ай бұрын
As someone who uses vr headset the commenter above is right. When I record videos from my pico 4 headset I see some shaking in it but I never seen any of that shaking when I use it Simply because my human vision just stabilises it It’s completely normal

You didn't see a big difference in FoV because there isn't one.... they quote 130 degrees diagonal for the Crystal Light, the BSB 102 is horizontal - not comparing apples to apples. The crystal light horizontal would be similar at around 100-105 depending on face shape. The Crystal Super you mention which is (supposedly) coming out at the end of this year claims to have 130 degrees horizontal with the QLED version, which should be very noticeable if true.

My main issue I had while i owned one is that after a while it was burning my eyes with heat even on the colder weather now, I can't imagine having it on my face in the summer with no AC. And the reason why I said "owned" is because I sadly was one of the unlucky people who got lens defects, they sent new lenses, and one of them also had a bit of warping, so I decided to send it back. I can confirm the clarity (on the one lens that was good for me lol) was incredible even while I wasn't running full res. (my poor 4070Ti was struggling) Gonna use the refund for a new sim rig, then next year I'll go back to VR, since you mentioned Bigscreen might be cooking something, I'll wait for it.
