Love, love, love my Solvi Jacket by Vanessa Hansen www.vanessahansenstudio.com/shop. Such a great make and beginner friendly too. It really got me out of my creative stagnation and I'm back on form!
Plus an exciting purchase at the end. I've been looking for one of these for sssooo long!
=============================================================
After many frustrating hours spent on video editing I took the plunge and put a new desk top computer on time payment. What used to take 1.5 hrs - 2 hrs to do on my old machine literally takes 2 minutes on the new - NO exaggeration! If you have found value in my video or if it has entertained you in anyway I would really appreciate it if you would please consider buying me a ko-fi to go towards my monthly payments on my new computer. Next on the list will be studio lighting. One day I will put out a completely professional looking video :-) Thank you so much!

Your jacket looks fabulous Catherine, love Dolly, what a bargain. Once you have made Dolly your size you will find it much easier to fit things and great for pinning the paper pattern onto to check for fit, have fun sewing, Deb 🪡🧵💕

Your jacket has turned out great Catherine. I think you made the right decision on the length, I also begin to feel swamped by fabric when something gets a bit long. I love that colour too! My Nana made my Prom dress and it’s that burgundy colour, one of my favourites! Wow, what a score with Dolly, $40 brand new, what a bargain!! Right place right time for sure. I have to say, you rang a bell for me, I’m also more of a spontaneous maker, I might buy a fabric or choose a pattern but that doesn’t mean it’ll get made 🤣

Yes! So happy with Dolly I could not be happier! I think you are a shortie too? I'm really finding that a shorter length suits my proportions better. I just need to get over that fear of my bum showing 😲😁😝!

Your Solvi looks gorgeous on you and the color really compliments you!! I had the same issue with the seams and back stitching. I like your idea of stabilizing the neck. Excellent suggestion!! Can't wait to see what you make next!

Nice job on that Solvi Jacket Catherine, you've inspired me to dig into some of my tauko mags and actually make something from one of them. I don't know how people can cut more than one project out at a time, like you, by the time I finished the first one I'd be completely over all the others! I'm much more spontaneous in my sewing but I do sometimes find that a hindrance when it comes to my channel as making a video does require some planning 😩not what I'm best at. Totally shocked you found Dolly for only $40! NICE!!

Yes there is another pattern in the Tauko Magazine before the one that had the Solvi Jacket I need to make too, it's the Krisi (from memory) cardy/jacket. I'd been eyeing it up on the Forget Me Not website thinking I might by it then realised I actually had it 'for free' in my Tauko magazine 😀.

your jacket is a great fit, the color looks lovely on you, can see the stitch detailing it definitely adds to the look, Dolly was a fantastic price. When i made my body double, i asked the then boyfriend how he felt about time alone with trash bags & duct tape lol, after a bewildered look he asked what i wanted. Used the tape form as pattern, also got window screening & coat hangers , used the hangers for a frame to my shape, stitched screening over the frame & stuffed my me up lol. It cost $40 can. Here's real world Catherine love, Sometimes life gets busy and overwhelming. If you don't get to a project when you've expected to, flick on the camera and have a chat anyway. You're channel is like being sat down having a cuppa tea with a buddy, any of us with the same mindset are going to watch regardless. Even if that means you come on saying "Guess what, i didn't get the project complete, let me show you all where i did get done" . Believe me since the fall i had i know it's all little steps lol. No good to beat yourself up. Go with the flow love🥰

Thanks Anna. haha that sounds like an interesting conversation about trash bags and duct tape... could have gone in any number of directions! What a project 🤭 Thanks for your lovely comment about my video style, I can always count on you for support ♥. Now, you have to tell me about your fall. Are you ok?

@@sewmuchsewing HI Catherine , still licking my wounds, the doc got me off pretty much for the rest of this month, doing what i can, managed to put trash out today, doing a little picking at the 2 donated machines for running a program when i can. one carries a few pounds lol, my son weighed the Imperial yesterday, it's almost 35 lbs, the other is a Morse that is the same as my son's grandmother's machine. When i opened it, I felt truly blessed, a book came with it & a parts list, happy happy , joy joy lol, When I first really cleaned out the machine of sentimental value, something fell out, i put the thing that fell in an envelop & closed it up because i couldn't tell if it belonged to the machine or if it was something my son's dad or uncles could have poked in there decades ago. Morse machines are hard to find info on. Now that i have a parts list it will allow me to take good care of not just that donated machine but i can look after the one that Nanny Marie owned too. The Imperial also came with it's book, no copy wright on them so i can only guess at the manufacture years but both work. They are a nice addition to the mix of machines i use for volunteering when i can. You could say i'm sew thrilled lol

I am the same as you when it comes to planning. I might have a few things in mind that I'd like to make but I'll make them when I'm in the mood to tackle them. Your much more organised than me. I press record and who knows what's going to come out of my mouth😆😆. But I do start with a plan. I love the colour of your jacket. Beautiful.

lol spontaneity is great! I don't have much of a plan before I start recording. I wish I was more organised, I always think I should have/could have done a better job 😮‍💨 We are probably all the same in that regard. I always think your back yard videos are lovely, I don't have an out side space I can use... yet. We are working on it! See you again soon.

@@sewmuchsewing Oh. That's so nice. Maybe I should go back to filming outside. Did you find any issues with my sound? I'm starting to wonder if it was one of those random comments when It was first mentioned. It is so much fun planting up a garden. I'm already planning for next spring. My garden is starting to go through a yuk period. It needs a lot of attention right now.

I always am very critical of my own videos. I think if I tried to get it perfect I would never post anything. It takes so long to edit it. I'm sure most people would understand we are not professionals. Just giving it our best and learning along the way. It us kinda fun though😊

@@create_something_pretty No I haven't noticed any sound issues when you are outside. Even the neighbourhood noises are not a distraction as they are further away from the microphone and so not overwhelming your voice. Yep, I think you are good for outside filming 😀

@@create_something_pretty Yes! Always so critical of ourselves. When, really, I don't think we need to be. Plenty of time to be more professional when we have several thousand subscribers! So lets not worry too much as we start out on our journeys. I mean, that is the advice I would give you... so I guess I should follow my own advice!
