The extended throw levers and sling attachments are great in theory and convenient on the flat range…. in the field they snag on everything. lol. The only extended item I have is a radian charging handle. Hey, check out the Proctor sling made by Frank Proctor (retired Alabama Green Beret). It is a minimalist quick adjust two point sling that attaches without any hardware. Very slick.

I don’t like how rough the material is. I’ve found other slings with a smoother texture are easier to adjust. It certainly seems like it’s built to last and maybe I just need to break it in but I’m not terribly impressed with the adjustability

If you think Vickers slings are good, try a Sly Tactical. Better handle and a wider range of adjustment.

I highly suggest trying competitive shooting at least once. Like airsoft, it's a good balance between fun and real-life training that'll teach you situational awareness and moving around with your kit under duress. Definitely don't invest in a comp gun or airsoft gun setup if you're only trying it once, but definitely have it as a long-term goal. I'm hoping to compete next year after trade school is over.

That’s a big reason I like the gen 2 1-6 the throw lever is fairly stiff much harder to bump around

Don’t know if you have any handguards in mind Chadd, but checkout the BCM MCMR handguards if you haven’t already. Probably the lightest, slimmest handguards out there from a reputable company. Only downside is they’re a bit of a pain in the butt to install with the friction lock. You’ll need a heat gun, a vise and some patience.

All common sense changes Think in terms of modifying away from a cqb weapon and more towards a sniper set up And that’s exactly what you worked through in real time I enjoy watching your videos brother That LPVO is sweet albeit the lever, exactly like you mentioned particularly in non static scenarios 16 year disabled combat veteran and trained sniper here ✌️🇺🇸

Personally, I don't think I'd totally remove the ring lever on the scope. But, I sure as heck would trim it down and round off the top corners on it to make it virtually snag proof.
@codyway74245 ай бұрын
Consider an A2 butstock. They work well shooting prone from a bipod with a rear bag, plus east to add weight as needed. Take a Dremel to the throw lever. Put a steel arca rail up front for additional weight.

Approaching this from a realistic "I dont care, just keep us both alive and free" standpoint.. I became a more accurate and more versatile shooter after getting out of the United States Marines. I went through a thousand 223 rounds a month for two years straight. Replacing gas rings constantly. Eventually, I was confident enough to post my shooting online. And even now, im still dailing my gear in. A Gen III Razor is good, but I settled on a Vortex Venom 3-15×44 Ive discovered that anything stronger than a x8 magnification even a x55 is just a slightly stronger and crisper version of an 8x magnification. Just my opinion.. anything past 8x and there seems to be a measure of diminishing returns. Great video🌟🇺🇲
@gear3outdoors5255 ай бұрын
Yes sir, exit pupil diameter will only let you have a full crisp picture at 7 power. Could be up or down one depending on the person. 10 power Max is a good compermise , but I'm with you I like the lower powers

Could you cut down the throw lever? It might help not move around as much. When changing the handguard might be a good time for a new barrel if you have a big round count. Thanks for sharing your experiences, the entertainment you create, and your service.

The vortex scopes are really good for the money. They have a fantastic warranty and they back up their product. I have a bunch of vortex scopes. I used to shoot action pistol competition at the gun club I belonged to in Colorado years ago. I used to compete with people on the Olympic rifle and pistol team there. They were members or the same gun club. It was a lot of fun. We had the cowboy action shoots. Lots of different shooting disciplines there for competition. People should join gun club shooting facilities and compete. The club I belonged to we went prairie dog shooting out on the plains. We went elk hunting. Had another trip to Whittington Center NRA facility. That place is really nice. Lots of fun to shoot there. I think I might be a little old for what you are doing, but I would like to get into some CMP 1,000 yard shooting someday before I drop. I lean towards long range and precision shooting. Like what you had to say in this video. Hope you do better in the next competition. You will learn more as you go along. My father was the presidents 100 5 years a row. I have had many good teachers over the years and experience just trying things. I grew up shooting. If I were younger what you are doing sounds like a good time. Yahweh Bless you and watch over you. 5.56 does not have much left to it at 600 yards. Sort of like a 22 mag at the muzzle. Going turkey hunting I hope this spring(too much work to do finishing my house for my retirement years). Love being in the forest. As long as God allows my legs to function and I can go into the woods, I am going there. I will be climbing the mountains. I love nature. People need to get back to their roots. Modern society is not healthy for them.

recommendations for your ar build: slim rail the SOLGW M89 rail. BCM makes a nice qd end plate. magpul prs lite stock is a solid choice, I also like the luth ar mba-3 carbine stock more adjustment and you can keep your carbine buffer tube. H2 buffer can help with less perceived recoil also like the dead air da101 comp, not blasty at all and stays really flat. white oak barrels.

The PRS lite is deceptively heavy. Maybe check out ACE stocks, they're just a receiver extension with a buttpad at the far rear. You can swap out lengths between carbine and rifle buffers with a buffer spacer and the associated extension. They have a more robust model with an additional bracing arm as well, and either can have a cheek riser wrapped to them.

Competition shooting and combat shooting are 2 different worlds. That's why a lot of operators/law enforcement go to these. There are lots of things that can be learned by competitive shooters and military/LE alike. In the end, they are vastly different worlds. An operator not placing as high as experienced competition shooters, means little.

Hey Brother, I would look at running a warne 1.93 mount and Luth-AR has 4 variants of their PRS stock, you coukd go fixed with height/lop adjustments or the one that lets you collapse the stock with rhe same adjustments. I found the higher mount and that stock, i tried magpul PRS first, and i liked the Luth better. It helped with awkward barriers, positions, and angles. Looking forward to what you settle on. #TeamsNshit #LLTB

Hey Ripper! Have the PRS Lite .. pretty sure it doesn't have length adjustment at the rear. You can adjust that rear pad up and down AND angle it somewhat. . As for a rail, I'm going to give a NC company a shout: :-) Unbranded AR. Very narrow rails if you don't mind the picatinny on the top being interrupted. Out of curiosity, do you know you're holds off the top of your head at various ranges or are you using a dope card (or similar)? Keep having fun out there!

Chadd, instead of removing the optic zoom lever, perhaps shaving it down to where it's just a nub, would both de-snag it, AND still give You a tactile reference to quickly know where it's set.
