Dude, you’ve truly gone back to the early roots of your channel with this one! Love every aspect…tiny creek, situated in an urban area, lots of species, but having the aquarium with camera to truly appreciate what nature offers in this setting, this really goes back to, and fully illustrates, your original philosophy for your channel. Super enjoyable!!

Years ago, I tried that. One early June, I caught a 5" largemouth bass, took him home for the 55 gallon tank my bro-in-law gave me. By the next year, he was nearing 14". I took him back to the quarry pond and released him. What a fun fish to raise!

Dude congratulations that is the coolest story ever. Folks had a place on a world class largemouth lake, fondly remember the monsters cruising down the docks, after baitfish, but the largest ones never bit much. Turns out my neighbor or my parents neighbor caught the fish near the nuclear plant only to release them off his dock….and had been rehoming them for years……miss that place…..

I used to do this in a tiny creek that ran alongside a railroad track on the edge of my neighborhood. I found out later it was actually part of a system of ditches that farmers had built for irrigation way back. The whole system was connected to a small river at either end so there was some flow. I used to catch tiny smallmouth bass, northern pike, perch and bluegills. On rare occasions I caught brown trout. I made my own tiny lures and rods too.

When I was younger there was a little gully one house over from mine. I used to bring my ultralight and a beetle spin and go catch whatever bit! That was one chapter in my love for fishing, and something that definitely stoked the fire. Great video, keep it simple.

You bring back some very good memories of my childhood. I used to catch northern pike, pickerel, Rock bass, perch, largemouth bass, trout eastern painted Turtles, bullheads, catfish, frogs. I made my own 4 ft long aquarium. I used to have half water and half land couple of little streams and waterfalls inside of it. Got some native plants. In Upstate New York it was beautiful when I got done with it. One time I caught two 18-in rainbow trout and put them in a bathtub in my basement for about a week. They would eat 10 to 15 large minnows a day. I put them back in the stream that I caught them in. It was fun to watch them. Thank you for sharing your experience and beautiful fish!

I keep 2 native fish tanks. A 75 gallon and a 55 gallon. I have bluegill, green sunfish and a 12 in long northern pike in the big tank. In the 55 I keep 3 longear sunfish. I also keep giant crawdad in both tanks. It’s loads of fun at feeding time. Plus you can learn a lot about fish behavior by watching them

What an interesting idea. I find native species much more interesting than exotics. Our local aquarium has a bass tank and I could stare at them for hours. They’re so much more relevant than something from some far off place. Same with the zoo, I look for the natives, bobcats etc.

Years ago I was a shift manager, in a casino, in Mesquite, Nv. Bobby Garland owned an artificial bait manufacturing business in Hurricane, Utah. He used to visit the casino on occasion and he and I became friends. I caught my first largemouth bass on his boat. He was always a gentleman and soft spoken. He gave me couple of his original baits. He made them with flexible rubber tubing and a cigarette lighter. I still have them today. They were called a fat gitzit. The more successful he became, the nicer he seemed to get. When you mentioned his name and his lure, you brought back a wonderful memory. Thank you. I am subscribing to your channel because I love your content. 60 years ago as a young boy fished many streams just like the one you're fishing in today. Thanks for that memory. I hope your channel grows and you become successful. Wishing you luck, Jerry

Great little video there, Brother John! Your Scripture verse reminded me of some things. My Mother passed away August 22, 2003. Praise God, though, she was a very devout Bible-Believing Christian. She was 72 when she passed away. Her body is in the Grave, but her soul is in The Paradise of God! One glorious day, I'm going to get to see her again! Yesterday would've been her 90th Birthday. She's home with the Lord, though, so she's in a far, far better place than we are. One of these days, though, all that are in Christ are going to be changed, and we'll be going home to be with Jesus!!! Keep on fishin', but, more importantly, keep on fishin' for the souls of men, women, boys and girls. Keep on being faithful for the sake of Jesus Christ, and you'll be richly rewarded in the end!✝️✝️✝️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸!!!
