Mine rusts in the exact same three spots you pointed out. I just find myself taking it out the holster every once in a while to clean and reoil and let the holster air out. I work outdoors and sweat a lot so it's a little bit of a problem but even when I was indoors it was doing it too. It does bother me a bit as well.

Its a blued slide. It wears off easy, you have to keep them oiled up. I cerakoted the slide, no more rust issues. This is common on the ruger firearms due to the cheap finish wearing off.

The mag release is a cheap and easy replacement part. At least you have that going for you.

Mu Ruger LCP II 22lr too I am seeing rust spots and also on the magazine. So, I started polishing the magazines, replacing the extra magazines I purchased that rust even more, and started after cleaning slightly oiling the slide and metal magazine surfaces. Hope that helps.

Wow, that's too bad to see. I've never seen that from just carrying. Usually that kind of rust shows up when you keep it inside a safe with no de-humidifier. I wonder if you're going from warm to cold areas quickly, like out in hot weather to inside air conditioning, or from cold weather to warm inside. Maybe that can speed up rust. I'm really curious what Ruger will say about that.

Yeah it’s a bummer! I would hate send it to them since I always have it in my pocket 😎

Get a shield or even a G2 or g3c. Better imo

Rugers bluing is thinner so oil and clean frequently
