'He may not have been the best match for her as a husband but he always was, before and after the divorce, Marilyn's best friend' - Allan 'Whitey' Snyder
When Marilyn Monroe met and wed Joe Dimaggio, it was a Hollywood dream come true. The beautiful movie actress and the baseball playing legend became Hollywoods golden couple. But unfortunately the fairytale romance didnt last and the pair divorced just nine months into their marriage. However, the pair remained firm friends and Joe even accompanied Marilyn to the premier of Seven Year Itch, sparking rumours of the both of them were getting back together. Despite Marilyn moving on and marrying Arthur Miller, Dimaggio remained in love with his ex wife and would remain so until his own death. It is said that the pair planned to remarry, unfortunately Marilyn sadly passed away before they were able to do so, leaving Joe heartbroken.
So heres my tribute to the everlasting love and friendship they shared, I hope you enjoy :)
And please dont bother leaving comments disrespecting either Marilyn or Joe, they will only be deleted!
PLEASE DO NOT STEAL MY VIDEOS! I SPEND A LOT OF TIME MAKING THESE AND CONSIDER IT A TOTAL INSULT IF/WHEN SOMEONE ELSE UPLOADS THEM AS THEIR OWN! I DO NOT WANT TO TURN ANYMORE OF MY VIDEOS PRIVATE BECAUSE I LIKE THE THOUGHT THAT OTHERS CAN ENJOY THEM! THANK YOU xx

i respect joe dimaggio because he was the only one who really care for Marilyn even after her death, he never sold marilyn down and always kept a dignified silence , he never remarried or share his life with another women, for me that's love!.....instead Arthur Miller her last husband , he did remarried again with another women, he did talk about marilyn's life and make money by it, and he wasn't around when marilyn die like joe dimaggio was!!!!.... "forever dimaggio and marilyn"

jack17361 Arthur gave just one interview about Marilyn I believe. He didn’t write books or cooperate with her biographers.
@Missditabomb
@Missditabomb 5 жыл бұрын
@@barbarawebb7185 Wrong!! Almost everything he wrote after her, (and while with her), was about Marilyn!! The play, "After The Fall" (1964), was about their marriage and mostly about Marilyn and her "bad" side. Just before he died he wrote, "Finishing the Picture", (2004~ish), it was about the disastrous filming of "The Misfits". At the time of his death, that play was being produced for a Chicago, (I think it was Chicago ????) run. Miller was fresh out of any ideas after his early hits in the 1940's and 1950's. A great deal of playwrights, not all, have only 3 or 4 GOOD plays in them. And he didn't co-operate with Marilyn biographers because they would be "stealing" his material !! He was a cold and greedy bastard. Marilyn saw this at the end too. She didn't like that he "abandoned" her, and that she was all alone, AGAIN, but she knew what he was all about.

I disagree. His teeth had character and weren't the "chicklet" teeth you see everywhere nowadays. Marilyn loved Joe's face and he was the most attractive man to her. I totally agree with the remainder of your comment, however.

Joe D. was Marilyn's "Saving Grace". He was the person she could go to in the "eye of the storm", the "refuge in the wind", "the place where you find yourself when you are lost and don't know where to begin", "room for all your doubt, belief when your faith runs out, and when your last hand has been played, I'll be your saving grace." There is more, but you get the picture. Joe DiMaggio was Marilyn's "saving grace". No one loved her like he did. No one. He did everything he could. I'm glad he finally got to see his Marilyn.

Is not true that Joe mistreated her and was abusive: that is in widest part invented by the media for its sensational purposes. Joe loved her in the only way he could, trying to father her, protect her and sometimes isolating her. But Joe (unlike Arthur Miller who was self centered and only busy with his own feelings) would never let anyone mess with her. I am sure they would have been best friends and companions for the rest of their lives had Marilyn lived long enough.

Lovely Video, 2 American Icons. Whatever really happened with them, one thing is for sure, Joe never needed an asterisk after his name in the Baseball Hall of Fame. He holds the hardest record in Baseball to break. 56 hits batted safely, AMAZING. Mr. D did it without steroids....raw talent. Marilyn was talented in her field as well. Too bad she did not see it herself. I hope they are together in the next realm living in peace without the press hounding at them.

I've read that Joe beat the crap out of her a few times which I hate hearing but I do think he was just so frustrated cause he wanted her so badly. Not excusing the behavior tho. I also read that he stayed up all night alongside her casket the night before she was laid to rest. Can you even imagine his heartbreak?
@Missditabomb
@Missditabomb 5 жыл бұрын
@Teresa: They BOTH treated each other badly, but even Marilyn said that Joe was her saviour, and that they had come to a certain understanding about each other. (She said this near the end of her life.) Marilyn, at NO TIME, was EVER faithful to Joe. Not during their marriage and not at the end when he did everything in his power to love, protect and save her. For his part, Joe, after the divorce from Marilyn, was a WRECK and he sought out therapy to deal with his anger. By the time he and Marilyn were almost reconciled near the end of Marilyn's life, he truly was a different man. He would do whatever she said, he didn't care about her "pills", her wanting a career, the B.S. of show business or her NEED for approval and exhibitionism, AS LONG AS THEY COULD BE TOGETHER. By the way, not many people know this, but it is true; as Marilyn's marriage to Miller was crumbling, (after 18 months), Marilyn and Joe would meet up in some sumptuous hotel room and be together and make love. Marilyn knew she had made a mistake with Miller and she knew that both she and DiMaggio still loved each other very much. In many ways, they actually were the PERFECT match.

@@KZbinr-ok4vh Yes, and Marilyn herself said, "If Joe ever hit me, it wasn't without cause." Marilyn was never faithful to DiMaggio and she tormented him~~~and they both knew it! But, still, when it all came down to it, they loved each other. Look at the funeral he gave her. And look at the last telegram she ever sent to him when the plane she was in had hit violent turbulence. She said, "Dear Joe: The first person I thought of was you and the second thing I thought of was changing my will." This was in 1961. Her attorneys felt she wasn't "well" enough to change her will~~~even though Marilyn asked. All told, she loved Joe D the most, despite the myriad of affairs that she needed to have for her almost non-existent self-esteem and ego. They loved each other!!!

I've read that after the shooting of the famous skirt scene in Seven Year Itch, Dimaggio was so enraged that thousands of people had seen his wifes underwear that he DID hit her in the hotel afterwards. But, I only READ this and dont know if it is true or just made up to make a story. I do not condone that kind of violence AT ALL and if true, its unforgivable! But he was one of Marilyn's closest friends to the end, hence this tribute :)

@songbirdy I've also read that Joe beat Marilyn, and I do not, in any way condone that kind of behaviour towards a woman! I have been there, and no man should ever raise a hand to a woman, whether overcome with jealousy or not. BUT Joe was ALWAYS the one Marilyn would turn to in her hours of need and support and Joe always came through. I do believe that out of everyone Marilyn was ever involved with, Joe was the most genuine in his feelings towards her.

You hit the nail on the head, Stace-o!!! Their love for each other was the ONLY chance they BOTH ever had at true love as they were actually well-suited in many ways!! He loved her and stabilized her and she loved him and made him loose and free!! I saw a photos of them at the first Christmas Marilyn spent with the DiMaggio's in San Francisco, and two happier people you will never see. They are REALLY beautiful pictures and they were BOTH having a good time!! When I saw those pictures, I thought, that is what people wished for Marilyn, ALWAYS. (Joe gave her a $10,000 mink of course~~~in 1953 dollars.) Awesome!!

@Bhuidhe1 I totally see what you mean. I think with the pair of them it was a case of couldnt live with each other but couldnt live without each other either. Despite what went on between them, Marilyn always turned to Joe in her times of need, and he was ALWAYS there. I believe out of her 3 marriages, Joe was the one who loved NORMA JEAN and not Marilyn and thats where their problems were. He wanted Norma Jean 24/7 but Marilyn had to play the part too, it was in some part, her job afterall.

It's so sad that just before she was murdered she'd just been rehired for 1million dollars. Joe had got anger management therapy at her suggestion & she'd told friends & her psychiatrist she wanted to cut back on films, do stage roles & remarry Joe. Read the book 'Victim', it has the transcripts of her therapy tapes.

Hi Sarah: I agree it is sad. I also agree with all that you wrote except the "murdered" part. I do not believe, (as a collector and person who has studied Marilyn and her life, her relationships, her career, and her death for forty years), that Marilyn was murdered. We can agree to disagree. What we do know is that Joe lost the love of his life and that Marilyn became the most amazing, (and it is AMAZING), star of her generation and BEYOND. Marilyn, or her appeal, will never disappear. She made an indelible impression on the ENTIRE WORLD. She was SOMETHING. (Even if she never truly believed it.) Here we are still mesmerized by her beauty, wittiness, her courage and CHARISMA. So few people have that magical aura, but she did. She was truly amazing in so many ways. I have over 200 books on Marilyn Monroe, written from the 50's to now. I did read the "Victim" book, (years ago), and as I remember it now, there was not a lot to back up the author's claim(s). That is how I remember it. I don't think Marilyn was murdered. She was ALONE too much, had too many pills, (that she procured from doctors and got on her final trip to Mexico) and took too many pills, and that was her end. (As I see it.) Rest in Love, Norma Jeane. xo Rest in Love.
