I keep hearing such horrible stories about this birth control. I still decided to get it, went to the obgyn (first visit w this doctor) to request it and my doctor said NO. He refused to implant or even recommend it, he then began to explain his experiences with this and his previous patients . I'm so sorry you went through this, that doctor should NOT be practicing, she put you st such a high risk and I don't even want to begin to think about what she's like to her other patients.

I’ve had my nexplanon implant for almost a year now, and other than having mood swings and an unpredictable menstrual cycle, I haven’t had any issues. Mine is in my right arm, you can’t really see it, but you can definitely feel it.

Wow I cannot believe that! I have the nexplanon, and honestly it's such a rare occasion that anything goes wrong with it! Honestly I would take action against that nurse, a correctly inserted implant poses little risk and you are very unlikely to have issues. I've had mine for nearly a month now, it's just underneath my skin and very obvious to feel, I had swelling and bruising but its healed and at the moment I'm just getting used to it. I've had no issues so far but I fully understand why you are put off having the implant again! I would be if I had experienced the same thing as you! That's so unlucky to get somebody that useless!

I am so sorry this has happened to you. I suggest looking at other birth control options and see which one fits best for you, if you wish to continue using it. There are several non invasive forms of contraception. I personally have the Nexplanon and luckily have had no major issues as of late. Best of luck.

wow... I am so glad I found this video. I had a very similar experience with Nexplanon. From the incorrect insertion and shooting pain to the irregularly long removal. Probably one of the scariest times of my life...

The doctor is supposed to be able to feel the implant right after insertion, that is what they are directed to do and thats what my doctor did. The lady who did this needs to be sued for malpractice and lose her job bcuz she cleary did not know what she was doing. I truly cannot believe how some of the ER staff and clinic treated you. So so so sorry you had to go through this and I'm so glad your okay😃

I have extreme hypertension from it (Very High Blood Pressure)!! It gets to the point where my entire left side (the side my implant is on) goes numb when I'm upset. I am almost to the end of the three years (a month away) and I still experience side effects. I wish I would've turned to KZbin before I got it instead of reading stupid pamphlets.

Nexplanon ruined my life I was in the ER for years trying to find out what was wrong with me because I was living with chronic pain I lost over a hundred pounds and I never knew that it was something that could do things like this I couldn't eat food I couldn't drink water I was severely malnutritioned and in the end hospitals all told me I was crazy until I went in myself and got my birth control taken out of me and ever since yes I have residual pain that have not faded all the way and they still come back at their usual times right as I wake up in the morning but it's not as bad and I don't have the mood swings anymore I'm taking care of my mental health because I'm much happier now but this is my fair warning this birth control has ruined my life

Omg I get it now. She was hoping that nothing would come of it and that you would be on your merry way and then if no side effects or symptoms happened; and the three year period ended. Then someone else would have to be stuck with that mess and all the lady would have to say is that it shifted on it’s own due to intense exercise or blunt force and then she would escape blame for doing a botched up job. People are jerks. Even still since she knew it was floating around in there nilly willy, she, herself could have deduced that the thing could have been launch in there further due to exercise or blunt force causing permanent nerve damage. So again, psychopathic nurse. She needs to loose her liscence. How can the safety of a patient be entrusted to her care?

If i were you I wouldn't discount using the nexplanon completely simply down to this. I have the nexplanon implant and it's honestly the best decision I ever made! Understandably it isn't the right choice for everybody, but don't let this put you off! This is honestly so rare, I've never heard of anybody else experiencing this! They are pretty much always inserted correctly and people have little issues with the actual implant. I guess side effects and how it affects your body may put you off as it changes and depends on everybody. I've had mine for a month and have no side effects except very slight nausea once and it's honestly such a good method of birth control if you try it out and it works for you and your body! 3 years protection and over 99% effective! So much better than say the pill or condoms etc. Plus if you got it and didn't like it/had side effects you could very easily get it removed, the removal process is no where near as traumatic as this haha!

Same thing happened too me. Expect I went to planned parenthood to get it removed she dug around for 15 Mins couldn't find it gave me a referral for a surgeon & they knocked me out & gave me surgery.

Wow that's a true horror story what an awful lady. I got mine done yesterday and the doc had me feel it right after and I can still feel it now, plus there's tons of bruising and it's a little sore. I haven't had any issues with it and the procedure was basically painless. I don't blame you for not wanting the implant again though that kind of experience would scar anybody =(

The same thing happened to me...i never could feel mine not once now i have loss of funtion to my left arm and fingers im not blaming the surgeon but the doctor did not do the right thing and insert it properly in the first place.

I got my implant taken out on tuesday september 24,19... I had it in my arm for over 3 years & I thank god mines was fellable wild still in me & the doctor that I went to to get it out, she didn’t have a problem getting it out of me. I’m not getting it again ever i’m letting my body rest from that birth control implant & if I get back on birth control again, i’m doing the pills....thank god, god had mines under control wild still in me for over 3 years the doctor told me my implant suppose to been out back in 2015 & I got it in like in 2010

So your provider put the needle in at a deep angle and delivered the implant right up into the muscle at the bone??? They should be sued. That's ridiculous.

im on month 4 for nexplanon i now have 2 week periods but i will be starting week 3 of my period from it. I now get itching and nausea almost everyday. I am thinking getting rid of it. this is the 4th birth control iv taken that has giving me long periods some of the other ones id have 1 to 3 month long periods and one time i even had it for 7 months straight.

Roxy I’m getting mine taken out today after having it for 3 months. I researched it before getting it and got it. Was really surprised that I didn’t have any of the negative side affects associated with it. However, it was causing my depression coming back and it’s taken me this long to realize it.

Gnomey Lorde How did it go? I'm so glad you got it taken out, the amount of hormones can totally cause you depression, it does for me. Now I'm back at the gym and feeling much better almost 2 months after taking it out.

Roxy it went pretty well! I already notice an improvement in mood, probably because I’m relieved it’s out. Also, yesterday before the removal was the first day of my “period” and after it was gone, it’s turning into a normal period. I’m surprised at how quick my body rebounded.
