My School Trained Me To Be An ISIS Fighter | I Was There

In 2016, when Aman Bong* was 15 years old, he decided to enroll in his local Madrasah, an Islamic religious school in Marawi, Philippines. At first, the teachers were kind to him while he focused on learning the Qur’an. However, he later discovered that they were secretly members of the ISIS Maute Group. Eventually, the teachers told their students that their mission was to claim the province for Muslims. Students were made to pledge to the flag of ISIS and children as young as eight years old were taught how to use guns. This is Aman’s story of escape and survival.
*Since the May Philippine Presidential election, Aman has become worried for his safety and has chosen to hide his identity.

Aman is not the only child that was recruited and used to become an ISIS Fighter. Some places here in Northern Mindanao had also recruited kids and teens to fight for what they believed in. That's why some of the muslim tribes are discriminated as terrorist because of the bad image that fellow muslims displayed towards other people.

It is not wrong for people to categorise those Muslims as a whole. They fear ISIS and it’s brutal terrorism, and they do call themselves a Muslim organisation. It’s the job of fellow Muslims to do their absolute best to condemn ISIS on all platform not only just common folks, even teachers/preachers in their Mosques need to condemn them.

Is it just me or is this video kind of, _off_ ? 🤔 Between the constant code-switching (especially at places it doesn't make sense like for things that are _not_ loanwords), and the bizarre choice to go back to say goodbye after he escaped, to the convenient timing that he just happened to hear about a plan they for some reason were willing to discuss with an apostate in their midst, toe the applause for the performance at the end, to blurring his face but using his full (real?) name it all just seems to dubious. 🤷 I'll give it the benefit of the doubt that this was all stuff from years ago being discussed and some bits were omitted, causing some of the confusion.
