The coolest thing in this movie for me was always the Tyrannosaurus. That and the wonderful score. And I always thought the opening was effective; it was very eerie to me as a kid. Yeah we don't see the spaceship crash, but, eh, I didn't need to. "How many times do you Jedi," I believe, is the movie's attempt at some slang; in this context, they're asking how many times has he seen Return of the Jedi.

In the mid eighties, in a small town in northern Sweden, a young boy was treated to his first ever rental video experience. We were supposed to rent a moviebox (a luggable VHS player) and three movies (package deal) and I got to pick a movie all by myself! My dad and (older) brothers got miffed at me for taking too long to pick, but there were literally hundreds and hundreds to choose from. Finally, I settled for a movie that looked super cool. Mind you, this was at a time when two state controlled TV stations was all the entertainment I've ever experienced. Recently, I decided to try and find this movie. I couldn't remeber anything about it other than they were racing their car against the power lines (that was on the cover) and it was called something with 'time' in the title. It was hard to find, as the cover must have been an alternate and they renamed this movie to Timebusters here. The movie itself might not have made deep impression on me, but the experience sure did.

@LB748 жыл бұрын
Yep, it's Vinny from THE BURNING. One of my favorites from childhood. I'm surprised by your being irked with Fisher Stevens' character. I remember him being quoted by my friends who watched this back in the day when it hit VHS. It's also getting a DVD/Blu-Ray re-release this year courtesy of Mill Creek. Also truth be told I preferred this over WEIRD SCIENCE. Who cares about Kelly LeBrock when you can see guys fighting it with a T-Rex, and blowing out its rib cage with a grenade launcher ? Also, I still think it wasn't all that out of the ordinary one could pick up TNT/Dynamite at the hardware store back in the mid-eighties. I could be wrong on that, but I could still see that going on until the laws tightened up.

man i love this film. i still stick on the DVD every now and again. the humor in its fantastic. theres just so many little things in it. the mad lad that you see every now and again just laughing manically (fleeing the police station when the power goes etc), and the sheriff grabbing vinny by the neck to stop him mimicking him behind his back. they just put alot of time into the quirky characters. i agree with others , a reboot of this with a better budget to fully actualise the core concept would be brillant. my only concern is they might lose the charm. fecking PC culture is buggering up films lately and i cant see it handling the tropes in this.
