Thank you so much for the overwhelming support. Moments like this show me I really do have an amazing family here on KZbin. I appreciate all the advice, from different herbs, religions, diets, medication and more to cure my cancer, and I will do my readings to see what I can/will do as a supplementary action to aid in preventing my cancer from coming back after all this is done, but for now, I am doing Radiotherapy. Its not easy to deal with this to begin with, and if I were to second guess myself, that would just add stress I don't need right now. This treatment has helped A LOT of people in my situation, and I am hoping it will do the same for me. Again, I REALLY do appreciate all the suggestions, and I will look at all of them, but for now I am focusing at the task at hand, which is getting through radiation. I love you all and thank you very much for your amazing support.

Cancer took all the male members on both sides of my family so far (grandfathers, great-grandfathers, uncles). Lung cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, leukemia, they had them all. My father is still alive, so that gives me hope, but there is a really high chance I'm gonna get it at some point too. I watched friends fight cancer, some of them lived, some of them....didn't. It's incredibly hard. I can't even pretend I know what having cancer is like, but I saw people fight it, I saw people beat it, even more times than one, it's possible! If anyone, I know you'll beat it Pete. You did it once, so that makes you a pro now :) You already do competitive stuff, eating, working out, etc, so now you gonna be a competitive cancer survivor, show the world you can do it not even once, but twice, or as many times as you need to, if it ever returns, you just beat it, just like that! Crap, I'm crying now, I'm really sorry for what you are going through man. I don't know if any of this bs helps or not, I'm just trying my best to wish you well, to keep your spirits up! Hi Pete, my name is Jarrett. I'm a little over a year out from my recovery from stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Long story short, I went through 4 months of chemo, and I've endured a family member going through both radiation and chemo for the past few years from prostate cancer. I don't mean to presume, but I will gladly help in any way I can, be it questions you might have, or support I already intend to give. My friend referred me to this video, saying it reminded him of me. Well I have to say that's a hell of a high compliment. Your strong positive attitude (even if you don't quite think you have one right now, I can say you do) is going to carry you through this like a breeze on a summer walk. Stick with it. This is just another challenge to look in the eye confidently and know you're gonna beat whatever it throws at you. Having watched the video, I will say one thing specifically.. Chemo saved my life. It was 4 months of hell, but I'm alive because of it. When people speak of "chemo horror stories", mine are the ones they tell. And yet, I will always vouch that it was worth my life. I affectionately call it "Running the Gauntlet"... because, in retrospect, it was just another challenge to take a day at a time and crush it. If you have to go through chemo, and yours may be a longer, less harsh version of mine, just know that it's not all doom and gloom. I will live a long and healthy life because of my choice. Keep up the good fight, and always stay positive. We're here with you the whole way.

Quite opposite of Pete here, I wanted to avoid radiation at all costs due to the thyroid issues it's known to cause when involving the neck area. +Rave7wist----I originally was going to do radiation/chemo at the beginning. My oncologist decided ABVD every 2 weeks for 9 months was the way to go. I actually gained a lot of weight during this time. Puffed up quite a bit. Funny thing was I never lost my hair the entire treatment. The first 5 years after treatment were nerve wracking. Every ache or pain I thought my cancer was returning. Over time you don't think about it anymore.

+jjcaron72 Hearing someone relate so distinctly is a new experience for me, haha. I'm going to assume you were in your 20s? It was 2 weeks for 4 months for me, with every side effect in the book and then some (side effects of things to get rid of side effects). But I lost a lot of weight, seeing as I lift 5-6 days a week to keep my weight on. I worked my ass off right after to put it back on. That's very interesting that you gained weight. I could never eat enough because of side effects to have that happen. ABVD really does knock Hodgkin's out of the park though. I did lose my hair though. Thinned out all the way, but I didn't lose the last bit of my eyebrows and eyelashes until AFTER my very last infusion. The joke I make is that it was only once I was cancer free that I finally looked like a cancer patient. Though I can relate about the 5 years part... Every day I subconsciously feel around my collar bone where I originally found it. I'm the one calling up the doc, "hey, when's my next scan and bloodwork?", hah. It took cancer to understand that it's up to me to save my life, and doctors will help where they can. I apologize for the long-winded replies. I haven't the years of post-cancer wisdom to filter my context yet xD

I worked with a guy who was in the same boat as you. Had testicular cancer, removed it. Monthly check ups lead to the discovery of his lymph nodes doing the same. He had them all removed and went thru chemo. That was over 2 years ago and he is healthy as can be. I have all the faith in the world that you can beat this and continue living a long and happy live. Hi - I have to write you! I'm researching vlogs on cancer today because I too was diagnosed this year, Jan 4th, but breast cancer- spread in my lymphs. Similar lifestyle situation- I lifted weights and hiits 5/6 times a week, ate incredibly healthy, organic, non-GMO, did everything to stay in top shape and BAM! IM Diagnosed with cancer this year. I'm currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation right now too. It makes me pretty sick I'm not gonna lie but I've placed it in God's hands and with a good support system I believe that's all one needs to make it through such tough n challenging obstacles throughout life. The only thing I can tell you that might possibly be helpful is regarding the radiation itself. Depending which kind you end up getting you have to really limit visitors to your home and don't go in public around people for 24 hours until the next treatment and then repeat. This will mean not getting as close to your fiancé for a bit too because of all the radioactivity and most importantly kids. This is extremely painful for me to go through as it absolutely kills me to go without seeing my kids every single time. Every Monday n Friday for 8 weeks. Mine is the internal radiation. Will be thinking of you n sending lots of hugs, prayers, n love my friend!!
