Cas, you can run a marathon! I did it at 30lbs overweight and had never run in my life! I signed on with a charity that coached me in exchange for fundraising and really, other than the charity, the impetus was competition with my sister. She ran it the year before all I could think was, "If SHE can do it, why not me? She shouldn't get all the glory!" I started training June 1st, running 1 minute and walking 2 minutes to recover, for around 20 minutes. Then I worked up from there and the marathon was October 25th. You can do it!

Well if the vision is a clutter free home and the metaphor is a jigsaw puzzle, then you are definitely the box cover. I have been watching this channel since 2018 and my house has slowly changed for the better. Not done yet but you helped find the corner pieces, getting rid of stuff, changing your habits, learning how you organize, learning why you hold on to stuff. Then we find the side pieces and the middle. It doesn’t happen over night but eventually…. You can’t really finish a puzzle if you don’t leave it on the table so a vision board makes sense! But you also need the box cover so thank you for your channel!

Thank you @ Talent on board. This for me is metaphor of life itself and how to make sense of the puzzle pieces. Especially now that am over 50 and I want all the pieces to fall into place and soon. Yet, now is when it seems like I've not accomplished or achieved and there's no time to do anything at this late stage. It's scary, discouraging, and uncomfortable. It's so important to plan ahead, set realistic goals, map out the steps, perform the tasks, and find ways to remain accountable to the process.

You have me close to tears. My house is a complete mess, I want to get it decluttered and clean again. I've no energy to do anything, I've been dealing with severe depression and anxiety most of my life. The Dr's have said my mess is to do with my mental health. I stopped dreaming years ago. What I really want is good health and a clean home. Thank you for making me believe they are possible. I'm going to Canva now, I'm willing to try anything. If I could achieve both those goals it would change my life.

Just a thought I had... sometimes we have goals that seem unattainable because of circumstance. Personally, I have to be realistic because members of my family have mental illnesses that are unpredictable, Bipolar 1, Borderline Personality Disorder, Autism, not all in one person thankfully! This creates an environment that I cannot always control. When Cas was talking I began to cry, knowing that many of my (visions) goals may never happen. So even if someone holds pieces of your puzzle in their hand, remember that you can still feel accomplished when you've put the puzzle together with all you have, and perhaps you can reshape it to suit the life you're living 💞

I also live with someone whose mental health struggles have shaped our lives in ways we never planned, never even imagined. I finished my grieving for the family I thought I'd have long ago (mostly). It makes it easier to appreciate the little accomplishments when you no longer hold yourself responsible for the "typical" big picture. My puzzle may never be finished but I got all the corners done and I feel pretty good about that right now. I hope you do too! Much love to you and yours, Elizabeth. Thank you for sharing.

I'm bipolar 1 and borderline. My husband and son are autistic and my daughter is also bipolar. We are super quirky over here. :) We do have to be realistic when our circumstances are different from others. But we can do what we can do, and work on our habits. We are worthy of shaping our lives into what we can and can accomplish so much. I keep my goals and habits small and my health is at the forefront, as well as deep acceptance of neurodiversity and the cards my family has been dealt. I wish the best for you and your family, Elizabeth Hannah.

I needed this so much today. I am a full-time caregiver for my mom in my home. I have been busting my tucas to get organized and clean. I am 75% there, and my mom and my son are aghast. I've never decluttered or "had a place for everything, and everything in its place." It's happening through a Mashup of Flylady, actually using my planner and watching you, Do It On A Dime, But, First Coffee, and Till Vacuum Do Us Part, and so many others. You can win an Emmy, but I feel ya on the running. If I'm running, you better get in front of me, because there's something terrifying chasing me! Thank you so much for the inspiration!!

I think this process is key to do before beginning a major decluttering project. You can't just start getting rid of stuff that you're not using just because you're not using it, like many advise to do. The first question is - do you want to start using it, what are your goals. For example I have a lot of supplies for canning food but I've never canned and they are collecting dust. I could just get rid of it all for the sake of decluttering. But do I want to learn the skill of canning food? Yes. That means it doesn't need to go to the thrift store but on the vision board so I can begin to figure out the steps and timeline to get there.

Something that goes along with this that keeps consistency and commitment to a goal is setting a ceiling for that goal - the full goal that you have for that day, and also setting a floor goal for that goal each day - the very minimal that can be done with that goal that takes about 1 minute. That way when you're sick or have too much going on to work on the goal on a day, you can just do the floor goal and keep the consistency and commitment going still.

Thank you for emphasizing that we don’t have to bust our butts every single day to be going about achieving our goals and dreams in the “right” way. I’m living proof of this! I’m working on my dissertation and one of the most common pieces of advice I hear is “work on it every day” but for me that just isn’t reasonable. And guess what I’m going to be done this semester and I’m finishing on time without needed extra semesters

Since my father-in-law passed away in Jan/2020, I’ve been in a funk. It’s awful, didn’t care about really anything. I let me house go to the point of no return. Seriously, it was ridiculous. I’ve had my Christmas tree up since 2017. Not decorated but it was still up. For the last 2 years it’s been decorated too. Anyway, you have inspired me to get rid of “stuff” and clean up, donate, major purge. I may be able to donate all my father-in-law’s clothing that I’ve been trying to go through. It’s really hard for me as I was his caregiver since 2010. I was exhausted to the max. Went into a depression and took forever to slowly get me out of it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Cas. You have no idea how much I appreciate you and your ideas and tips. My office, which became a dumping ground for everyone’s crap, is finally cleared out, cleaned and replaced with what I want my office to look like. My master bathroom has all the drawers cleaned out and chucked a bunch. Gave a bunch of stuff to my daughter. Next I’m tackling my linen closet from hell. Like seriously!!! There’s games and vacuum parts and sewing stuff and pillowcases. My sons toy that he loved to play with. Why do I still have that you ask??? I have no idea. My son is 24. Anyway, I’m sure you get what I mean. You are such an inspiration. Lots of hugs, Wendy from Winnipeg. Oh and I say amazeballs all the time. Lol.

I stopped letting myself dream a long time ago. I just know that if ai dream about certain things that I have no power to control, it will breed discontent in my life. That being said maybe I should selectively let myself dream....I'm going to give this a try.

I started writing down things I wanted to do in my calendar, I see my calendar multiple times a day! Then, we started doing those fun activities! It is acting as a vision board but I need to achieve some personal goals and I'm going to make one for my phone right now! Ps you can win an Emmy, I believe you will!

Thanks again!!!! I have a saved list titled "Golden Cas" and this is #1 on that list. This morning my dear husband (DH in Flylady lingo) is having a very hard aging health day. But thanks to your KZbin work, I have my big picture goal to "Live well" now framed as a vision board where I get dressed. We are in our mid 60's now. I am blessed with the genes to make it to my mid-90's while DH has a family health history where if he gets to 70 he will be very old in their gene pool. My daydream is that he will celebrate our 50th anniversary with me in 2038, I will be 90 and he will be 87. Keep up the great work. Your Emmy will come when Netflix realizes how HGTV blew it by making you conform to their box format. That said though, their format helped DH finally grasp the container concept. So, thank you, thank you. 🥰

But if it doesn't happen for this year's Emmy show, I think that Joe should do a presentation for you here on KZbin - with all the glam outfits, make-up, shoes(!) backdrop and award. @@terrisouza2692 Each day pick a small area of mess that you’ve put off dealing with. I’ve found that doing the chores I hate first makes the other chores seem easy. In that area of mess, sort the items into keep, maybe, trash and donate. Put away the keep pile, box up the maybe and put it in a closet. Throw the trash and take the donate pile THAT day to your favorite charity. For the maybe items, if you don’t want or search for it in 6 months, then donate it. I’ve paired things down this way many times and it’s helped me a lot.

Any homeschooling mom out here?! How do you deal with burn out? When I slide into burn out stage, it is hard to get out. As homeschooling parent I honestly don't know what to put on vision board as my life goes around my kids...
@1979France
@1979France 2 жыл бұрын
I’m not a homeschooling mom, but a full-time working mom, and I feel like all I do is work (job, housework and taking care of kids)… so maybe you can relate to me… on my vision board, I have a picture of my kids smiling, because my main goal is to make them happy. I also have a picture of my husband in his ideal job, and a picture of three places where I would like to travel. I also have a picture symbolizing financial freedom and pictures of renovations I would like to have done in our home. So, even if your main goals are simply to support your family and have a nice home, those can still make a really inspiring vision board! Regarding getting out of burnout, take it one day or even one hour at a time, and please get help if you need it - there is no shame is asking for help. Good luck ❤️

I'm a home school mom of 5, by 7th grade they were mostly schooling themselves. My oldest son is a dreamer and an musician. I didn't stress about his academic struggles, because his amazing wholesome character and genuine charm has made him successful. Let your kids be who they are created to be, and not what the public schooling model says they should look like. No one loves you kids like you do. The days can feel long, but the years are short. When I was burning out, we went on field trips 💕

Wow...I really needed to see this. I have been watching you for the last 4 years and you are my favorite organizer! I have just started a living room vision board and I could not imagine why I get so excited looking at it. Now I know why. I can see everything in it all at once and it makes more sense to me that way being a visual learner. I am going to try the same thing with my painting furniture, decluttering, and organization! Thank you so much for this video!! I love Hot Mess House by the way!!! It encouraged me to face why I hoard and to declutter my basement.
