Great video Gary! I can attest to the 1/3 1/3 1/3 mix being great for raised beds and pots. I actually use coconut coir instead of peat and use my own compost. Cheers!

It wouldn't be a bad idea to add some perlite for drainage too. I make a very similar mix.😊

A lot of variables depending upon your climate and soil. I planted seed potatoes two years ago in 50/50 shredded leaves and composted cow manure and they did really well. Last year I left out the leaves and used compost and soil and got almost nothing, so I'm going back to my original mix. Our soil here in the West is alkaline so I also add peat moss to .my berry plants along with pelleted sulfur. As for transplanting suckers and offshoots, can't you just heavily mulch the berry plants and then directly transplant the suckers and offshoots in the garden come spring? That's my plan this year. Six to 10 inches of compost and leaves. Crossing my fingers. :)

Where do you store those plants over the winter? In your greenhouse? Do they need sunlight or can I just put them in my shed? And will they survive nights in the teens and single digits?

In my growing zone 7b the plants such as Blackberries, Raspberries, Strawberries all survive the snow and freezing temperatures. I have strawberries in small pots that can survive the frost. I think maybe one should be concerned with the winter if you live in zone 5 or colder you might have some trouble. Gary is in the same zone as me by the way.

Home Depot in Southern California has discontinued carrying Peet Moss. I had looked at several stores in my area. Yesterday I found the last two bags in Pasadena. 😱

Canada does a great job of managing their peat bogs. So is California getting rid of all the Miracle Gro potting mix bags that are mostly peat? I bet they arent and now gardeners have to bay 4x's as much for soil. Ugh.
