Credit for sharing this Joe. Love paste fishing on the pole in margins so thought i'd try this. Had an amazing day yesterday catching some big lumps. Paste stayed on the hook for quite some time and curp were very inquisitive, really going for it🙂. Experimenting more with ratios now, you've set me off. Noticed quite a few blow backs so added a bb shot and it was a fish a time.

I started using paste around 40 years ago. My tackle shop was selling trout pellets in little bags for 50p. I crushed the pellets up to a powder and add a little water to form a paste which stayed on the hook without a pole pot. Won a lotta club matches !! Gonna try your method soon. Good stuff, cheers.

i make up mine with a two tins and sweetcorn and use the juice as well.. and put them in a old food processor and blitz it into a pulp.. and then take it out and put it in the fridge and then in old food processor blitz up loads of pellets and boilies into a powered and mix then both together and its make it hard paste then add little water to lossen it up and add some bread crums.. that will make it just enought to stay on your hook for a few casts but not tough that you put it on your hook

Thanks Joe, I’ve only started using paste in my mid 70’s and never quite cracked it yet. I will give this a go as I know from watching mates how successful paste is. One lake I fish is only about 2’ deep but has a good head of carp up to 17Lbs and now it’s warming up and they have spawned should hopefully get some nice fish. I’ll share your video with my friends. I love it when anglers tell it like it is because they are not sponsored. Well done again

Interesting you should mention red paste being extra good. Just been watching some of Rob Hughes underwater films (again!) he did for Fox, Matrix and Dynamite. So that whole 'red' bait is best as a standout in our green algae-tinted summer lakes and ponds and Rob's 'colour wheel' is fresh in my head. One of my go to hookbaits is a bloodworm band'um wafter. That sort of deep blood or burgundy red seems to work best. Its a little bit more subtle than bright crimson.
@MatchFishingFilms8 ай бұрын
Yes I’m not sure why but once the water gets churned up the red works very well

Here's what I took away from this EXCELLENT INSIGHT...... 4 "heaped" pots of sieved groundbait ---> 2 "level" pots of wheat gluten ---> 6 pots of plain water or "dyed" water. ** 250ml pole cup = 1 pot ** Mix in a plastic cake mixing bowl (available at the "rainforest" store) - no corners / more consistent paste mix. Final amount of paste = approx. 5 pints - plenty for a bagging session. Thanks Joe.

I have noticed that the wheat gluten isn’t as strong this year as last! On clarksons farm then mention the wheat not being up to quality for pasta doughs and I wonder if the poor weather last summer weakened the stringyness (not a real word I know). I was definitely using less of it in my mixes last summer
