You can make your background darker by getting your key light closer to you (inverse square law). The color pop light pops best in shadow areas. To create more shadow, consider moving your fill close to the camera’s axis and use a lower power than your key light. Then use your color pop on the side opposite your key light. All this is very subjective but can be fun to play with and can teach you a lot.

looks great, but I'd be binning the big lantern and just putting a smaller diffuser on. In fact, 1 more of those smaller fill lights would probably be powerful enough for you key light in that small space

Great video! I've always been intimidated by lighting as well, but, I know the reflected lights seen in eyes are called catchlights. Also the flip up glass thing is an early form of light meter.

Just the fill light at 4:39 actually looks great, but I understand that the dramatic look isn’t what you’re going for. The problem is that the background is too bright, especially since there’s the solid white door taking the right ⅓ to ⅓ of the frame. The lantern soft box is simply too big and too diffused for your space. If you use another one of your fill lights and put barn doors on it to restrict where it goes you should be able to get the light on your face without too much spill on the background. Good luck!

I love a Teal back light!! The warm orange ambiance in the back also super complimentary. Almost like you know your colour science matches 😜. Awesome video!

cool setup, do you use flash light?

Good job. The way you wear your hair, I think I’d switch your key and fill. I’d put key on your right side.

Cold weather been practicing with flash and constant lighting. But hopefully in warmer weather hopefully get out and attempt some of the night shoots you have done in previous videos, constant lighting would make shoot so much easier. Thank for the opportunity and inspiration ❤

Lighting is always a personal thing. If you are happy with the results then that's all that matters. Personally the end result is good apart from the reflection you have in the gloss paint on your door. You could solve this by changing the angle of your video shoot. You could of course move the lights so you can't see them but just changing the angle of your shoot would solve that problem. I'll have to pass on the giveaway as I don't use instagram. It's a shame but there you go.... I Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas

personally i wouldn’t add another dedicated fill light in your situation. Your room is not that big. The key light is already bounding everywhere. It is a lantern makes it spread more. So u essentially already have light filling in the short side. More fill reduce the contrast and dimension, make it not cinematic. But it is just me. 😊

In my opinion skip de Key Light when using a Lantern. The lighting is way to flat for my taste. Although you will lose one catch light. But you will introduce a bit of shadow, which i think is great.
