As soon as you quit weed, the alcohol cravings will immediately come back. It is the void you are escaping, and the void you need to learn to live with to be sober.

This is true. But at least for now he’s not drinking. If he wants to pack in drinking, he now has the opportunity to do so. But I know for a fact he doesn’t want to quit the booze forever. He simply can’t bear the thought of not having booze again at some point in his future. He’s gotten sober tons of times but never gotten down to really addressing it. He simply detoxes and jumps back on the booze after what he deems an ‘appropriate’ break

Have you considered the possibility that you could have ADHD? After getting on ADHD meds, many people find that they no longer have cravings because the meds up regulate your dopamine receptors. This could save your life dude, try to get checked before your body gives out due to kindling effect
@CrazyStupidLust18 күн бұрын
This is a great suggestion and could be a possibility. A lot of people don’t even think of this. I was recently diagnosed with adhd and my dopamine drug was p*rn…now I have replaced that habit with healthier dopamine activities…not easy but with meds and forming new habits it’s been a blessing.

Never heard of anyone getting messed up before rugby training 😂 I don’t like cannabis or anything like that. Always made me feel dehydrated and lethargic. And paranoid. Friends of mine on the other hand loved it, much like our host here. Best to stop I’d say.

That’s not going to work but I think deep down you know that. I’ve done this many times, over time weed builds up the anxiety and also lowers your resilience, then inevitably the booze starts again. It’s actually what’s happening to me at the moment as well so I feel for you. Go and get some support from a drug and alcohol service. Last year was the first time I went without hitting rock bottom, I actually caught it before it got worse and I’ve called up again and feel a sense of relief I’ve made that call. Good luck man
@Cowboys4life12329 күн бұрын
You are trying to white knuckle it. Find a local AA. Follow the steps. Get off the weed and do the work. It sucks and is difficult but worth it. Replacing one drug for another is never the answer.

For me, Weed would give me the munchies!!!🤣😂🤣 The last thing I want so I’m not allowing it for me. I’m doing it the Brutal Way! I probably need to liven things up a little bit. I’m just being careful right now. Especially with the holidays coming up 🆙👍

You’re so funny bro What a you are trying has been done innumerable times with limited to no success (over time) in the rooms of recovery - commonly called the marijuana maintenance program. The issue is that it doesn’t usually work over the long term. Best of luck to you - hope it works out for you. But if it doesn’t then you can perhaps try some 12 step programs …… while they will be the first ones to tell you they don’t have a monopoly on sobriety (any group or member worth a shit will tell you anyway), I do know it was the only thing that worked for me. I tried all the little methods similar to you, and went back and forth and back and forth and back and forth without any substantial period of long term sobriety. So just remember that there is a solution out there if you’re willing to follow some simple (but not easy) suggestions

Also try not to focus on the negative comments you may get, that’s easier said than done. There’s something else going on that these substances are blocking out and it’s so much easier to mask these with addictions. I think your a great guy just need some support and speaking to a camera might temporarily help but speaking to professionals is better in my opinion
