If anyone else made this video, I'd call BS that he didn't already know the yardages. With Levi, I believe him. I don't think he can lie.

From a competition standpoint, unknown yardage seems like it would be much more fun than known yardage.

Practice is the biggest thing that ever helped me, I don't travel to shoots so the cover is largely the same for me at all the shoots. Even shooting a bag at different ranges, reps, get your reps in.

I just had bale targets for 20 years shooting 10 20 and 30 yards. For me a tip that helps me too is observing the large structure behind it and guessing what that backwall max is. If I judge a tree 20 inches in diameter at 35 and a deer is going to walk right in front of it, giving me a shot, it'll be a 30 yard shot. Also like you said practicing so much sometimes it's just good to take a break day and let your mind relax. Sit in a chair and go fishing for a day. Come back the next day and trust your practice and insticts.

Levi thank you......I had shoulder surgery a year ago and I'm just now getting back into shooting but I too struggled in my competitions judging yardage and your explanations helped me understand so much better and I'm 69 so you have helped this old man. Thanks again

The "absolute" is genius. I didn't even realize I did that yesterday until I heard you say that. My range finder sucks and I have to upgrade but I didn't realize that before my first 3D event. I was shooting at a black target in the woods on a rainy day so my range finder was pretty much useless. I know where 30 is because I shoot that at my range all the time so I judged where 30 would be and added the extra distance. It worked out perfectly. Thank you so much for this video. 🙏🙏 Liked and subscribed 🤘

Years ago in the Texas panhandle the clubs all shot unknown. Like five clubs then the attendance fell off so bad there’s no clubs. So about 8 years ago the guys that I know here that go to ASA all went to known because there wasn’t a place to practice unknown. You gotta be able to afford a few of these super expensive 3-d targets and have some acreage to do it at least halfway right for the unknown class. It’s a whole different ball game and to me it was great. 👍👍 Levi for sharing your thoughts. Especially for the newer players.

I do the exact same thing! Stand up there say the farthest I think it could be and the closest I think it could be Usually a 3-4 yard window. Work from there to find the exact number that makes the most sense then make an aggressive shot to my final number and take a 5 because I was 4 yards off 👍🏻👍🏻 It’s not that hard guys 🎉

I find the middle of the distance, that is, I divide it in half approximately and then measure half and multiply by 2.
@driftlesshunter920011 ай бұрын
I move my targets constantly, & I never touch a rangefinder all summer while practicing. That's all part of the practice in my opinion. Most anyone can hit the target at known distances, but can you hit that big buck when he finally offers a shot while being pulled back already.

I’m not great at this. My gramps was really good and he told me when he always won these instinctive recurve shoots Something I didn’t believe. They didn’t use range finders. He told me “they only have a few versions of each animal. The rings are just about the same size. I can tell by how big that is.” He said he based it on the tip of his arrow. He would often be like “yeah this you aim about 4” over their back and he’d put it in. I guess when you do it all the time. I guess and then based on where in the woods my arrow landed I’d adjust lol
