I just moved to Washington DC and my favorite self-care thing I started was putting all the names of the museums into a jar and pulling one out each week and going to that museum. It's perfect because it's routine-either on saturday or sunday, but it also has an element of surprise

I feel very blessed to live in the UK! Student finance only starts charging you after you earn over a certain amount, so at the minute I only pay about £50 a month and it goes straight out of my wages. If you don't pay it off in 25 years they wipe the rest! I have been very fortunate to get a funded place for my masters, I'm going to do Mental Health Nursing :) I love taking self care days too, I love shopping on my own, go at my own pace, try on as much as I want etc. Just want to say your skin is amazing!

Kati your KZbin channel has been by far my BEST experience with therapy. Been diagnosed schizoaffective in 2009, and then following borderline personality disorder, PTSD, depression, split personality disorder, attention deficit disorder, dissociation disorder, and so on. Your channel has helped me warm up therapy which I have felt closed off to for the mystery and superiority that I usually have felt from therapist. I’m actually finally receiving the healing needed through your channel. Thank you Kati!!!!!

My self care days/things do not involve shopping. Usually it’s hanging at home, taking a bath and doing a face mask, playing with my service dog, watching a movie or TV, eating healthy meals, doing what I want! Sometimes it’s going to a local health food store, and resting, or stopping at the beach on a way home from a doctors appointment! And I also hate coloring! Have never liked art, except the art of dancing! So dancing is something I love even though I cant be in classes now. I also work on training with my service dog for fun!

Kati this video couldn't have come at a better time for me. Five months ago my first love was brutally murdered and today was her birthday. She would've been 32. Today was the first time in about a month or so that i broke down again. I thought I was doing better, but today set me back. After work I let myself sob and shower and as I was getting ready to lay around, I got an update. This video popped up and motivated me. I forced myself out of bed, threw my favorite tank on, favorite snapback, and I even wore make up (something I haven't done in months). I reached out to a friend and we spent the evening together. What would've been an evening in bed crying turned into shopping at my favorite store, watching Beauty and the Beast, and going out to dinner. Thank you. Also, I'm sure my therapist will thank you as soon as I tell her about today. Keep doing what you're doing. Stay Woke.

Watching this was surprisingly inspiring to me. I feel like the idea of self-care is never talked about and sometimes even frowned upon. I have been learning how important it is lately as I go through therapy and am starting to see how much I am impacted by how fully loaded my schedule is. However, seeing this and how you not only talk about self-care, but you really make the effort to be aware and fit it into your schedule is inspiring to me to make an effort as well. Thanks again Kati for all you do!

I love the idea of self care days where I can just go out and relax and buy myself nice things. But my problem is that spending money (especially on things that aren't 100% necessary) stresses me out. How do you deal with stress from spending money on yourself? Thanks! P.S. Loved this video! Keep 'em coming!

Do you like plants? Or clean spaces? For me cleaning is therapeutic and taking care of my plants is really relaxing because of the greens and if they are flowers it always smells nice. If they are herbs or vegetables you can always talk to them and tell them about your week and what stacy or Kevin did at work. 1 bad thing and 1 good thing. Giving your plants names also for some reason helps me lol

My self-care: 1. Playing in an ensemble 1-2 times a week (been a classically trained musician for most of my life) 2. Run several days a week 3. Go to gymnastics one night a week 4. Go figure skating several days a week (during the school year). Other things I like to do: 1. Go to our local farmer’s market on Saturday mornings in the summer 2. Make myself breakfast at home on the weekends. This often involves French toast or omelettes and coffee. :) They’re so simple, but so good! 3. Treat myself to an iced coffee, even if it’s the $1 variety from Dukin’ Donuts that they sell in the afternoons. 4. Occasionally get a massage. Especially with being very physically active, I find it very beneficial for my muscles. I do physically foam roll and stretch at home, but I also love the physical pressure that I get from a deep tissue massage. Something I am trying to do more of: 1) Reading. I loved reading as a kid, but haven’t done nearly as much as an adult. So, I may challenge myself to more of this. I decided to finally read “Boy Erased,” which I have started today, and am almost finished with it already.

This was very nice! I do a quick version of this for when I'm feeling down or overwhelmed and am struggling to start my activity, so I'll do some sort of exercise for like 10 minutes (like dancing to a song on the radio!), drink water, shower, put on comfy clothes and perfume, light a yummy candle, eat something good and tidy up just one space to be there. And then life goes on.

You already do so much for us and it's hard to even believe that you have any time for yourself! It was nice to see you in a different setting, I think it adds a depth to all your other videos and your channel as a whole. One thing that resonated with me was you viewing the cityscape from above. Doing that or looking at the stars (too bad I moved to a city) shifts my perspective physically and therefore mentally. Makes me feel like I belong to this world and see that my worries are not really a big deal after all. And it's really easy to do. Anyway, happy vlogging!

Saturdays so Dad can be with the kids while I take 3-5 hours on my own. He knows it helps me, which means it helps all of them too. The beach is 40 minutes away, the forest is 30, and I keep paints, brushes, an art pad, a water cup and paper towels in the trunk for au plein aire painting. The whole process of being outdoors, selecting a spot I like, and absorbing myself in it by painting as well as rough all my senses is a pure delight! Sometimes a chocolate, or a deli sandwich, or special purchase like a nice belt, or something chick and cozy is also nice. I love craft stores and fabrics sometimes too... it's the freedom to consider what might be enjoyable to make that is helpful, when compared to the incessant ads of ideas that are not mine. And, since the kids aren't with me then, I can fairly focus on myself. Though I do some of these things with the kids while I homeschool, I go at their place. This is my time.

I am inspired! My closest friend and I decided to treat each other to an experience instead of buy each other gifts for Christmas. Its almost 2 months later and I finally figured out what experience to do! We are going to leave the kids with our hubbies (and they cant call unless its a real crisis) and we are going to so a "friends care day" where we go out, hit up several stops, from nails to a meal (that we never get to eat because our families don't like it but we love it)...maybe a spa for a while, maybe house hunting for my friend...lots of chatting, no worries about our phones going off or having to take off cause our husbands really want us to come and take care of our normal duties. Girl time. Us time. And me time. Thank you for the great idea!!!

I absolutely love this video starting out I was at a high intense job and it burned me out and self care was not an options. I was working on the weekends and when my husband noticed how stressed I was he mentioned that I needed to change jobs. I changed jobs to a more laid back job and it has made all the difference. I love my job and I love what I do. In school they stressed self care and burnout but I didn't listen because I though that was for when I had a few more years under my license. No you need self care even before the license is finished.

To be honest, these videos are fun to watch and though I love a lot of your content, these types of blogs are soothing every now and then! Wouldn’t mind some more of this type of content!

Hi Kati. Loved the video, felt like permission to relax! I have self care Wednesdays. I recently cut my working hours and i'm much happier working a 4 day week. I can't save money but its enough to pay for everything I need. Great video

thank you for this video, it distracts my a bit from my mental breakdown because of an allergic reaction to polysomnography stuff...

Hiking is my self care. I'll hike until my feet go numb and then I'll get a slice of pie and a coffee, drive home, and sleep for like 10 hours 😊
