Hi Tony, I have been DE shaving on and off for 20 years, but never would I go back to any other way now..I very much liked the VERGULDE HAND soap, has a good lather when you work it, I always find dipping the brush slightly either under the tap or in the sink, helps keep the soap from drying on your face..may work for you. Thanks, all the best Tony. Paul.

Hi Paul Thank you very much for your suggestions about Palmolive. I had pretty much done everything you suggested and then I got to thinking. My shaving mug is now full of Arko [which as I`ve learned from you is truly the nector of the gods] so because of that I was using a very slippery coffee cup for the Palmolive. Anyway in the mean time I`v found a bowl with a rough interior which acted as an aggregate and now I`m getting a great lather. Slippery is bad rough is good lol Now I`m a happy boy .Don`t worry about answering this as I know you`re probably busy. Have a good weekend. Brian

Just getting into DE shaving and have a vintage Gillette Slim from 1963 on it's way. Wondering if you have ever used one and how it compares to your Futur. I have been using shaving soap, a brush, and my great grandfather's Old Spice shaving mug from 1948 for 7 or 8 years now. I will never go back to foam or gel in a can. I also have some Proraso creams on the way to give them a try. Just when I thought going to DE razors would save me money over cart shaving. I now see all of these products I need to try, lol.

titan90000 It is nice you enjoy DE Shaving, and especially when you use handed down items, it's a nice feeling isn't it..I have a Gillette Slim Twist (non adjustable) razor and a Gillette Slim Adjustable, both fantastic razors, the Merkur Futur is in a class of it's own in comparison really, it is much more aggressive. the Slims are a good standard aggression, the adjustable can be made milder or slightly more aggressive of course, due to it's settings...hope you enjoy your products when they arrive, and yes DE shaving can become expensive..lol...and addictive...all the best...Paul.

What a timely coincidence! I received a package in the mail the same day I watched this video( 3/17/2016) and it contained a Russian razor I had ordered but did not expect to arrive so quickly. Point being; it is the same brand "Rapira" as the razor blade that you showed but did not know how name due to the Cyrillic text. Secondly, it is interesting to compare the size and type of equipment compared to your March 2016 Shave Den video.

Wow, Paul! And your wife doesn't have a cow with all that stuff?? Great collection. I just got started with the Edwin Jagger (on your recommendation). I love the quality of the shaver, but still am a bit clumsy, a few nicks but still retained most of my blood. It's a nostalgia trip, huh? I'm in DC USA and still trying to sort out where the supply stores are. I ordered most of the starter stuff on Amazon, but like to put my hands on stuff to shop, mostly. Well, thanks for the great vids. They're fun to watch and really, I've gotten some great tips from you. Probably, you've saved me from myself on more than one occasion. Peace to you and yours .

The unmarked Boots razors you have are the same as the ones at Tesco. Personna, made in Israel. You should also try a Taylor of old Bonds St, if you want to splash out, and I also find Erasmic is an excellent shave stick, dirt cheap and doesn't smell like an urinal block, aka Arko. Arko is a nice lather, poor smell.

6:20 and now 2015 arrived. I belive now all of those gone now. Let's assume you have used 1 blade per 3 times shaving. That's 29 months x 30 days / 3 times = 870 / 3 = 290 blades? And on video we see 100 pcs + 14 pcs of 5 pcs each = 170 pcs only. So which brand's blade performed the best?
