I live in Texas and all I wear are cowboy boots! Since 2017 I’ve never put on a trainer or a dress shoe or any sort of non-cowboy boot.

im in Australia, my Nanna worked at rm Williams for 50 years here in Adelaide, my boot selection is about 8 pairs of RM's she knocked off from the factory in different styles and colours, have you ever had a RM pair of boots? my cousin is currently working there continuing the family tradition but he's actually making the boots vs Nanna that was a seamstress

If you like the security of the Hobush Snowbpard boots and need a pair of boots for work…..you really should checkout a pair of Nick’s Builder Pro boots! Way better than Red Wing boots too! And if you struggled with the Red Wings cutting your feet up it’s because you didn’t or haven’t broken them in properly. They use thicker leather than most people are used to nowadays compared to the cheap thin leather most shoe companies use these days. So they need time and wear to properly soften and break in the thick leather. Even more so with Nick’s boots, but once you do you’ll never want to where any other boots again!

I agree 100% on the Redwings. I have a pair and they had a very long breaking in period. My feet where painful for months. Now they are really comfy, but it was painful pair of shoes for a while.

My mother parked the car on my foot when I was 10yo. It rolled forward onto it when I was reaching in to grab my coat. As result I have lived with a bone that has repeatedly healed wrong and rebroken many times. Alzner's orthopedic inserts have been life changing. I purchased the first pair at age 21. I still wear them at age 46. They are hard plastic with a inner arch support. If you can find them give it a try.

Like your shoe 👞 repair’s like your attitude I wear crocs myself because I have a 4e width foot but ten and a half length so they fit and they are cheap. I also have a few pair of red wings and SAS. Those are expensive they’re also very comfortable.

Don't give up on the Iron Rangers! Once you break them in, it feels like they are made for you. However, they don't have any arch support if that's your thing.

After many years of wearing boots. The Twisted x cognac cellstretch square boot are one of the best boots I've ever worn. Reminds me of what you said about the snow boots.

Thursday boots are my favorite! VERY good price for the quality you get! I have three pairs from Thursday! I would LOVE to see how you would modify any Thursday boot in a video! Also, what do you think of putting a small leather snap on the top of a boot to hold laces to the side? A friend of mine did this on some boots and I was surprised that isn't a normal thing on all boots.

Hi Dan. Thank you for this, it’s great to see what other people have in their collections; it also gives me some great ideas to add to mine 😉. Only trouble is, having size 13 UK feet limits to what you can buy, I have to resort to importing and online shops, as most shops stop at size 12. Having wide feet to means that sometimes shoes just don’t fit correctly and often feel uncomfortable or just plain unwearable; meaning either getting bigger sizes (I’ve had to go up to size 15 in some boots… ahem… ice skating wasn’t a fun time….) Do you or anyone else find they have to adjust sizes depending on brands?

I do, I would say in Loake shoes and boots I take a size smaller than normal. Im uk 12 normally. The Trickers boot i have was tight, but feel good now broken in.

Also a size 13 UK. I wear size 14.5 UK in Adidas Ultraboost, 14UK in Vans, 13G UK in Loake, and recently imported a pair of White's MP boots in 13E US. It's very difficult (and expensive) too have big feet unfortunately. Never had any luck with Red Wings because they don't do wider sizes for big feet.

Yay to Ryderwears - really like them- got myself a pair when realised my regular trainers were totally inappropriate for most of lower body workouts. Shows how much I knew about training when I started 😜

Dan, for a moment, I thought you may have shoes by two brands from Northampton; Trickers & Jeffery-West. Trickers is where the film 'Kinky Boots' was recorded. Jeffery-West, two lads from Northampton School for Boys, set up their own company in the late '80s. Trickers make some awesome shoes, which is the chosen supplier for Prince Charles. Jeffery-West have shoes that no one else manufactures; they make a point, especially their Sylvian brand. Needless to say, I have shoes from both Trickers & Jeffery-West, including shoes by Claudio Lugli. I love shoes and love the impact it has when I wear them.

Hey Dan, I have to agree with you on the Red Wing boots. After I moved to Minnesota, my friends all told me to buy Red Wing boots. I hated them... too hard and uncomfortable. They are made here in Minnesota, and they are a nice boots, but they kill my feet.

The Thursday, Vibram soles, and Dainite heels boots...are known as Frankenboots!!! Lol. I love them. You do great work. I have seen several videos of other cobblers...and comparably, your work...I find to be of a higher quality. Some cobblers do atrocious work. You get a 'like', and a new subscriber.

Im getting a nice collection, my favourites are a pair of Church's Wootton boots in black. The fit is good, and the leather smell is the best of any shoe I have ever owned. Boot wise I have some Tricker Stows in anitque acorn, and Loake Bedale - Warning on the Loakes - the eyelets on the inside are rough, so they eat through laces.

I have the romeleo 2, and use stick on soles to prevent them from wearing down because they can't be resoled. Have you heard of Velaasa Strake weightlifting shoes? They can be resoled apparently.

Interesting that you say the Dainite logger soles are terrible, I recently put some red Wings into my local cobbler for vibram soles and they came back with Dainite loggers. I just accepted it as I know dainite are respected, but they definitely feel very soft and not durable.

I have regrets about the boots I bought, for my first (and only, so far) expensive pair.. I bought a pair of Higgins Mill boots (AE) in chromexcel. My only goodyear stitched pair so far. I've never gotten a single compliment on them. Sad day. I've had them for 3yrs and they are comfortable at least. I wish I had bought a pair with broguing.

Nice video... My favourite shoes are my Barker Grants... Walked them around loads of cities and they still look new. Very hard wear wearing rubber quarter on heel. I've a pair of Barker Pitt also that are gorgeous but haven't worn them much due to lockdown etc I suppose. I've a pair of blue Cheaney Berkeley wholcuts that need more special occasions... Think I'll just start wearing them on afternoons out at this stage 😂

That's the thing I just don't understand about Red Wing's Iron Rangers Uppers seem absolutely bomb proof, but the soles come with an absolutely pathetic lack of proper tread you'd expect to have from such a tough boot.

Didn't expect you to wear dress shoes in the workshop, dunno why you would need to explain that :) it would be very over the top if you did wear dress shoes.Thanks for explaining the details about the role of shoe in weight lifting, didn't know there are such many dependencies of the angles to lift sucessfully.
