Isham Jones was tops at writing and playing beautiful tunes.

I agree Lou. He had the knack of making others' songs sound like he wrote them, and that was a very good thing.

I am familiar with Les Paul's version of this song. I've had the same guitar teacher for many years. He is 75 and played many years in an orchestra. He introduces me to all these beautiful songs. Once a beautiful song....always a beautiful song I say. Music/art is truly timeless. Thanks agasin for sharing this version.

I have always loved this song; and the first time I recall hearing the melody was in a fleeting comic-relief scene in the 1944 film. "The Uninvited." The 1930s recordings are virtually all fox trot tempo; but years later Peggy Lee had a very silky slower tempo version in an album entitled "Mink Jazz." I wish I could load it here; but I can't find my copy of that album. Boy, could Lee Wiley have made a splash with her voice and that slower tempo. Ahhhh, well.

the depth of the Jones rhythm section really shines on this late Brunswick. Recorded just before the band moved to Victor. (I like the other side better)

This is a wonderful song but I think my favourite version (of course) is the Roger Wolfe Kahn with Elmer Feldkamp.
@Bigband7810 жыл бұрын
They are both good but the sound on this old 78 is a little "fuzzy".I just dug out the record because phredL said the other side "I Can't Believe it's True" is better.
