The festivals being stuck happened to my spice district in a big legacy save and I was unable to ever get the district to go back to how it was supposed to. I had to migrate my characters over to a new file

I've been thinking: What if Warren becomes the heir and lives together with his brother Elijah (who has no partner and no children). We have Warren as the heir, playing with the life and death pack etc., like you already said and THEN, when Elijah dies as an Elder, he will be reborn. (Related to rebirths, the trailer said something about unfinished buisinesses. Elijah's buisiness is unfinished because he didn't find love, even though his fate was originally supposed to be playing through lovestruck). Warren's child (the heir after Warren, who will be an heir like any other) raises the reborn version of Elijah, who THEN becomes the heir after Warren's child. He then can play his lovestruck heir life, like we originally intended for him to. I hope this all is not too complicated, but I think it could actually make sense🙃

So, I have an idea: what if Elijah was the heir and he and Warren didn't get along, because Elijah feels like he was neglected due to his family always working towards bringing Warren back, so Elijah becomes the Grim Reaper out of spite for Warren and once they are both old, they make peace, become best friends and spend the last "years" of their lives making up for the time they lost fighting, so they die together as more than siblings, as friends!

Just a tip, writing in the journal, playing with emotions with toys and instruments helps with the emotional control. For teens it helps to go jogging when they are in a bad mood too, iirc jog to clear mind or something like that.
