I actually knew someone who became an urban legend in my country. A pilot who was actually related to me in some sorta way. He crashed his plane at sea, coast guard and anyone with a big boat went searching for him. My uncle (ironically unrelated) got his friends and scuba gear and set off on his boat, they saw a flare in the sky on the horizan but they never did find him. The myth started because a fisher man claimed that every night at 2am you can see the flare in the sky on the horizan where he crashed, people say that hes still calling for help

This kinda happened to me. I had a half brother who did drugs and he died while the rest of the family was at Disney world. I was 3, so I don't remember much, but we ended up missing his funeral. I heard people talking about the legend for quite a while, always with different twists, but the real story is, he just died while we were at Disney, these are the different variations I remember. 1: Mickey mouse killed him 2: WE killed him 3: Someone attacked him while we were gone, as he would be alone all week 4: He's still alive, and faked his death Little did they know, that he simply passed. I never brought it up.

I heard this particular one a while back, probably right around when you posted it. Just a little context on me, I'm a cabinet maker currently listening to this as I put away some freshly finished mahogany doors coated in waterlox for when they go onto the boat they're built for. 5 piece doors of this size are fragile if they hit the ground from even a few feet up, and I jumped so hard when I heard the breathing start that I nearly threw one through the workshop. I am a bit jumpy at times but love these stories. Rarely does one of these make me jump harder than my mischievous coworker though so I'm impressed, keep up the good work, the one effect has a big impact on the story telling
