It melted my heart to see Mia in your sketchbook video 😸 I loved seeing all the experimental pieces and the full range of sketches- colorful swatches, messy concept brainstorming, unfinished doodles, etc. It’s so hard to just let a sketchbook be chill! Appreciate it as a space for working through stuff, not necessarily making gorgeous finished drawings on every page.

Aww balboa park makes me so happy to see it in your sketchbook. I was born in San Diego and spent many Saturdays going to balboa park exploring the museums and the magical little places there. I remember learning to draw and paint there for an art camp and I’ll never forget it.

I love that you did a sketch of Medusa. When i was in junior high i was teased about my hair and the kids called me Medusa. This was in the early 90s and my mom made me get perms! ack! Now Medusa is my soul creature.

I don't know if this is helpful, but I had the same issue where i'd swatch things in my current sketchbook and then end up buying doubles. So what I did was I made a little book just for swatches. I swatch all of my art supplies in it, and it's small enough to easily fit in a purse so I can take it with me to the store if I need to. Just an idea for anyone who's had the same problem!

I really, really like your art. My favorite picture was one of the first, a girl, I think you said you knew. It was painfully beautiful as many other of your pictures were in this 2020 sketchbook. I've got to say now though looking back on it in my head you don't use the color red much! Maybe I'm wrong. Red is my favorite color. Then yellow. I'm working on my second sketchbook. I use thinner paper for I just use fine tipped colored pens. And I use crayon but find my picture is finished too soon. I try to work on a picture for a little while, at least. Anyway, it was a lot of fun to see this sketchbook!

I completely respect your way of using and filling your sketchbook but aren’t sketchbooks for sketch’s I mean I have like books with special paper that’s better for medians so I’ll fill a page in it every so often but a main sketch book usually has just sketches, nice art btw

I haven't drawn since I was 17 (45 now), and now trying to get back into it. So in your opinion, do you think new artists sabotage their art by overthinking? I always seem to start out *okay*. Then of course by the time I'm done, it looks like a three year old attacked, eraser marks, and over embellishments.
