This one is very near and dear to me, I'm incredibly proud of how far I've come and am such a more positive person now that I have chosen to live alcohol-free. This is my (long overdue) sobriety story!

This! 💯. It's a beautiful thing to completely quit and take the time to get to know who you really are without it. I love it, thanks for this comment.

I cut the sugar and seed oils years ago and drank zero carb alcohol. Then I decided if I am so healthy all alcohol has to go and I am done. I drink plain soda water on ice all day. My nightly drink is sleepy tea! It is nice to have that routine.

Oh that's my favorite (bubble water), I have one per day mixed with a fruity herbal tea I make by the pitcher with some lemon. It's my "mocktail" of choice. Your routine sounds ideal! 🤗

Very relatable. Thank you for sharing. I’ve been on the fence with completely quitting I think my biggest reason that I haven’t yet is my husband. So used to having that beer together :/

Yeah I get it! My husband and I do still go to the local pub and get an n/a in a mug from time to time. Old habits are hard to break but we can always make little adjustments if we need to. Having him sober with me is a huge help though and I know that's not always the situation.

Believe it or not my wake up call was I drank 3 beers the night before and the next morning I was running around like crazy and I had a house showing later so I was “gathering up things” cleaning up my place and I ended up losing my backpack with my cell phones and my id and Visa cards etc. It is not the lack of phones and ways to pay for shit. It was the discombobulation that I am now completely finished with. I’m a single person right now so I’m creating my own motivational audios using clips from these videos to help me remain focused. I’ve tried to quit before and then I’d forget and think oh I’ll just have a beer and then it went on and on and on

So glad you have these vids to keep you motivated! I really do just hope the video finds the right people and it helps in some way. I remember going in circles for a few years myself, quitting then going back, quitting, back, etc. I eventually just got sick of the dance. Sounds like you're just about in the same boat. Wishing you the best in your sobriety journey!

Congratulations! Most people can't go 2 weeks without a drink. My wife and I will be 2 years sober in September and we love being sober. I also used to have dreams where my sobriety app days goes back to zero...it's a great way of keeping yourself accountable. It's funny you mention the non alcoholic rose not being touched for a year, we had Gordon's Zero Alcohol Gin on top of our fridge for over a year too. If that were a normal bottle of spirits it wouldn't have made it past 48 hours. It's like "Ah so this is what it's like for normal people who have drinks in their house. They'll have one and then not touch it for months."

That's awesome, congrats to you and the wife for 2 years as well, that's an amazing accomplishment. We totally say the same thing when we have n/a bevs around-like "ohhhh ok, so it is possible to not drink it all in one day" lol. Our bar cart used to never stand a chance 😂

Loving the new pink wall!! I quit drinking (at least for now) for my health, because I don't want it poisoning my brain.. I want to be in control of anxiety and emotions and I think alcohol was affecting that. I feel quite sad not drinking. Unmotivated. It's hard ): and it's only been like 3 weeks for me.

Way to go for being sober for 2 years! My husband was sober for almost 50 days and then he had a slip up. Starting over now. He's in an IOP currently and going to AA. Do you have na beer where you live? I'm in Pittsburgh and they have non alcoholic beer and wine in the grocery store, beer outlet, and a store that sells nothing but na including spirits. My husband is addicted to them. We're buying na Budweiser now cause it's cheap 🤣 I'm sharing all the IG accounts with him! Thank you so much for listing them in the description!

We don't have stores that are dedicated to non-alcoholic options that would be the dream! But most restaurants, bars, and stores have plenty of n/a beers, spirits, and wines to choose from. The n/a red wine is nearly undetectable, it's pretty wild. That's great your husband is getting the support he needs and good for him for giving it his best, it's not easy! Wishing all the best on that journey ❤️

Oh God, for me it was having less than one liter of hard alcohol in the house set me into a panic. It’s when my consumption got to be almost a liter a day that I finally woke up and realized I have to quit or something very bad health wise is going to happen to me.
@SeannaMiriah
@SeannaMiriah 5 күн бұрын
I know that feeling! Like the sharp pain of panic when the booze is low, guhhhh I do NOT miss that. When I started to realize that feeling in particular, might be about the same time I think I felt the shame of it. Like-I was fully aware it was a problem if I was that scared to go without it and these are all the things that start adding up to the inevitable decision that it has to stop. Glad to hear you put it in check and are looking out for your health!

Hi, thanks for sharing your perspective. I remember when I first attempted to cut back I couldn't imagine quitting all together either, that thought scared me, like-am I really going to have NO FUN forever?? It took years of cutting back and taking breaks before I was just exhausted with the dance. It was a viscous cycle. When you are someone who desires peace and growth within yourself and you are on a path to seeking better mental health for yourself, you will doing anything to protect it. Sobriety has shown me that this version of "me sober" is far better than the one who drank. Two bottles of wine a day would have me on the floor, I have no idea how you've managed to continue on like that for over 25 years, but comparing my experience to yours is not my place and I'm not here to judge anyone for their personal choices, especially when it's a place I'm familiar with. My focus on quitting was less about weight and physical appearance (that was just a bonus), I was more interested in finding out who I am when I stopped relying on alcohol as a crutch to get me through things. Alcohol made me incredibly depressed. It has ruined the lives of people I know dearly, some lives have come to an unfortunate end because of it. I've grown to despise it. The clear mind I now have is a priceless feeling and I wouldn't change it for anything. You really don't know this feeling until you've made the decision to quit fully and that's a choice each individual must make for themselves. We are all different and unique on our own journey in this thing called life. I wish the best of health and happiness in yours. ❤️

@@SeannaMiriah I am so happy you got over it all and are now continuing to live a life that really gives you joy! Thankfully I wasn't classed in the 5% boozers who get through 300-1000 standard units a week. I was in the 105 units a week "group" however through it all and every scan and bloods they could run on me, I never returned anything that would prove medically remarkable, however maybe the fact that I am built like Mike Tyson on roids might have something to do with it. lol. Cheers from Australia.

Great video to save. Very motivating. Speaking about your anxiety and also a person that struggles with severe anxiety & sobriety, sober now, have you quit all caffeine? I just stopped after 30 years of it and that extra weird anxiety voice is GONE. I CAN NOT believe what coffee was doing to my nerves and sleep. I think it slowly built up in my system. It did not do the same thing to me when I was younger.

You know what, I actually have been wanting to try to cut it out for awhile (caffeine and coffee) and see what difference it makes. I've been drinking coffee every day since I've been an adult. That's kind of mind-blowing to think about! I will try it soon and see what results I get. Thanks for the comment!

What a lovely video! I'm 31 days alcohol free, and also a bartender. I work at a brewery and get beer for free. It got way too hard to resist, so I knew I needed to step away. I'm trying to get out of the bartending scene as well because I know exactly what you're talking about! It's hard to see!

Congratulations! 🎉 and thank you for sharing! I’m super interested in experimenting with mocktails! I don’t know if you’re close to an Eataly, but at the one here in NYC they have an “analcolico” that tastes like a Campari spritz, it’s so good! I buy a few bottles for a non alcoholic treat after work 😊
@SeannaMiriah
@SeannaMiriah 3 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes, Campari was one of the last cocktails I drank, I LOVED it with soda and lemon. There's actually something called "Phony Negroni" by St. Agrestis and it is so spot on to that same flavor, I wonder if that's what they use?? If I ever see them anywhere I squeal like a kid 😂 If I'm travelling and see an Eataly I will know it has them from here on out!
