I don't wanna be the judgmental type, but I am more impressed by the list of things you could do at early age than the list itself. I think aptitude plays huge role in success as well especially in software engineering role. Programming concepts were beyond comprehension to me at age 12 or 14. I am 20 now and I sorta still struggle with recursion and stuff. Data structures are still hard lol. I just want to know if you had high aptitude or just hard work.

I binge watched your JavaScript tutorial during the pandemic while trying to fall asleep just for the fun of it (the time you feel disappointed that you didn't do anything productive the whole day). It kind of motivated me a lot and fast forward to present day, I am a freelance full stack developer which enables me to earn more than medium range wage while still being a student in my country and gather a whole lot of experience by travelling and networking.

Wow, you have done all of this by 22, amazing job. I'm behind on the grind. Got my first job in software development at 23. Every software-based job I applied to in college I was rejected for. Even after graduating with a bachelors in computer science at 22, it still took me around 6 months to land my first software engineering job and all my personal coding projects I learned with help from channels including Tech With Tim was really what got me that position, not just having the degree. Just going to keep grinding and learning as much as I can to excel in my career. I first started coding at 17 during my high school's optional Intro to Python course which really piqued my interest in the computer science industry. Can't imagine myself being so productive as you in my early/mid teens. Never even worked a job till I got into college.

15 years old making $15 an hour was a great wage. The mean min wage in Canada (2014) is $10.40/hr so Id say your dad deff hooked you up! That's awesome though. Before doing full stack I was a heavy equipment operator (starting at 15 making $15/hr in Canada) also thanks to my dad until I was 27. Having connections makes a lot of difference, especially starting out. You've come far. Great work.

when i first encountered one of your videos i got a bit depressed, i asked my gf how old she thought you was, deep down i knew you are younger than me and watching your videos and realizing how good you are, made me come to the conclusion that you may have started at a very young age, there was not other possible explanation. Am 25 and am a biological system engineer and one year ago i decided to get into programming, nowaday i have more confidence because i managed to get through pretty fast with python, even being able to build large programs of more than thousands of line of code myself, dominating modules like tkinter, customtkinter, numpy, matplotlib, sqlite, asyncio, and other just in a span of one year. in that time ive also been working 8 hour per day for a farmaceutical company, but thanks to guys like you i commited to keep pushing forward and i still watch most of you videos. So thank for being who you are man and keep sharing good contents, you are literally saving carrers .

I am from India and I am pretty much struggling to buy a laptop or P.C. As a middle class family and also as a student really hard to buy those kinda things to learn. According to me my part time job work 500 INR for a full day or half day job (part time cause I am student) and upto latest reports 1$ = 82 INR which means my maximum income from a total full day work worth 7 dollar. And also if I need a decent P.C to learn many things it worth around 60k INR (approximately 730+ $). As per the conclusion that if I need to buy a lap or P.C I should work most probably 106 minimum full day work and for a student the only off days are Saturdays and Sundays what a trash situation. Sorry to said this😶 I mentioned those things here cause you earned about 15$ per hour at 2014 as a mid school student highly appreciable growth man hats off to your dedication ❤

That is a great journey you had, thanks for sharing it! I always thought that programming is something I am not suited for untill I started playing around with python APIs for a specific VFX Studio software. I have done a bit of scripting and all of the sudden I became a Pipeline Dev right at 4 months since just randomly starting the python journey in the studio. Your shared knowledge helped me solve some basic and most important stuff I had to learn and now I have been oficially titled Pipeline Developer for 4.5 month at 24... I have seen that the studio was in need of a person like me that would be dedicated to integrate between softwares and databases and else. I have kind of just hopped into that. Sometimes this is all we need to start this kind of journey. Thanks Tim!

Hi Tim, I have been following your channel for quite some time now, ever since I was a CS student. We have had somewhat similar career paths (except for the youtube part), I started much later than you (my 2nd year while studying CS) as a C programming tutor for university students and some other courses then I advanced to harder stuff like OOP and Data Structures. I did an internship where worked on Mobile/Web App Development, two years later (senior year) I got my first real programming job as an R&D engineer where I worked on Desktop App Development. The same company made a pivot into the robotics field and I went along for the ride, started as a joiner dev, and worked my way to now becoming the lead software engineer in the startup robotics company. (I am 24 years old now) The reason I am telling you this is first: what do you think my next move should be? (new company? better role/pay?) secondly: How do you evaluate my career development so far? Is it good, slow, or just subpar? Thanks a lot for sharing your journey it has been an inspiration. Looking forward to your response.

I don't have time to build my own project, since i'm working as a full time banker and in the afternoon i'm working on my ML research. Hopefully it will be published by the end of this year. Funny how you stopped talking about exact $$ figures after 2020... You should have kept telling people what your salary was to encourage them to pursue more in the tech industry. My cousin never went to college, put some money together and bought a desktop PC almost 20 years ago, learned PHP and got a minimum wage job posting used media on Ebay. He then continued and learn C++ and C# all while I was getting a BS and Masters in Computer Science , fast forward 20 years and he is making as much as I am. I got a degree for self achievement and to make my parents proud 12 years ago, but now days you can be a very good developer, all you need is perseverance and lots of KZbin hours... Happy coding everyone.. ❤
