Very helpful! I’ve been exploring several GM emulators and oracles with lots of large charts and sheets, and also decks, but none work smoothly for me. Thanks for the ideas. After watching I think I need to come up with something that works for my play style.

Great video - love the idea and I share the same love of flipping through cards, I used to use plastic sheets for card collecting and would write spell descriptions or things on cards and put them all in a binder so I could reference them all as my group went from place to place.

Using those sheets to collect cards is a great idea. I have/had them for magic cards but not thought to do that in this context.

Very nice. Thank you for sharing this. I never noticed the wallet before. I suppose I listen more than watch most of the time. Paying attention to probabilities is so very useful in most aspects of life. The high probability outcome is both predictable and often unremarkable when it occurs. It is those instances where low probability outcomes prevail that form the basis of our pleasant surprises and worst misfortunes. Noteworthy!

Your videos have inspired me to start working through my own solo rpg experience. I've decided on the nostalgia using 1st edition DnD and ADnD modules. But having many systems in my house, I think it might be an interesting video to hear your thoughts and perspective on systems that heavily rely on Player Directed Story... Such as FATE or Tales from the Loop or anything else that relies on players to set or manipulate the scene through actions or action points.

I’m glad to hear that my videos have been spared you in someway. Can you tell me more about what you were asking in terms of player direct the story? I have a glanceD thROUGH tales from the loop but not played it and not useD FATE at all. What else might be an example of that?

@@GeekGamers01 In Fate, the players can use actions to create "Aspects" on a scene: important details that they then use to their advantage. Other systems like City of Mist calls this "Change the Game." In Tales from the Loop, there is an entire phase that is "Scenes from Everyday Life" that are predominantly a player developed story line that the GM, with the players input just comes up with on the fly about the characters and their parents. In these three examples as well, the way you get players from one plot point to the next isn't so much on a railroad and not so open world either. The intent is that there is a back and forth between the players and the GM to craft the story (and world) together and the GM nudges them toward the main plot points of the adventure.

That's a lotta oracles. I usually just use phone to generate things, roll dice, or write the story points in floating notepad app. While I also bring pocket character sheet 1/4 of my phone size, containing stats and items.

@@RottenMechGaming I create the system myself, so I guess yes? It just that it's still using your typical standard dnd stats but dumbed down (STR, DEX, CON, WIS, INT, CHA)

Hey, have you tried Mice and Mystics? With a few house rules it's a blast, and works really well solo. I bet you could dissect it and take elements from it and other games to make something cool.

The part of going from player to GM is true for me. I tried oracles but can't do it. I feel it takes me too much out of the game unfortunately.

I've been solo RPGing for many years. I just use systems without oracles, Four Against Darkness, D100 Dungeons, Two Hour Wargames. Enjoy your videos.
