🧿 10:06 This isn't Asia, and it's not the 1.5 km long Bosphorus Bridge either. Over there in the video is europe too.🙂 But you can go from there to a subway (Marmaray) and to Asia in 2 minutes.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah I looked at the map wrong. So cool it's still so close on the subway!

Hello from Athens! 💙 Greek here! In Greece, we use the verb "ma-ti-a-zo" from the greek word "ma-ti", which means "eye". It means that someone transfers to another person their envy about them through their look and it can cause to that person bad luck, ailment or uneasiness. Usually, we call an evil eye "ma-ta-ki", which is a diminutive for the word "eye". Some people, (like my grandfather) know how to take away from a person the bad eye or evil eye (greek word "xe-ma-ti-a-zo"). They whisper a prayer and some of them even perform some rituals. After that they often yawn a lot and they carry the evil eye and their uneasiness themselves for a sort period of time, usually for a few hours. I never found out the prayer my grandpa used because it was a secret that an old lady had told him when he was young. There are a variety of doctrines and beliefs about "xe-ma-ti-as-ma". Evil eyes are supposed to protect their owners from the bad eye or evil eye. Evil eyes are also placed on greek charms.

On my 3rd trip to Greece, I ended up doing the 4-nights Greek Island Cruise stopping at Mykonos, Kusadasi (to see Ephesus), Patmos, Rhodes, Heraklion in Crete and then Santorini. On my first trip to Greece, I went to Athens and Crete - loved Athens. My second trip was to Corfu and Santorini. I went to Islanbul on my first trip to Turkey and it is one of my favourite cities visited

Just a little correction about the Istanbul part. The bridge you walked on and took photos doesn’t connect Asia and Europe. That is one of the bridges on estuary in Europian side. The bridges over Boshphorus don’t available for pedestrian traffic. It can be walked by during only marathon days. 🌿

Oops, there was a little mistake at around 10:20. Actually, you walked from Karakoy to Eminonu, both are on the European side. As far as I know you cannot walk from European side to the Asian side, or vice versa, by using one of the three bridges on the Bosphorus. The Police would stop you very quickly thinking that you will jump off the bridge and commit suicide.
