Finally someone else said it. The cell stage could have been easy cash for ea. Just make a game about cells eating cells and each stage gets harder and as you evolve you can customize your creature and then when you earned enough you can enter online mode and battle to death with of people on servers.

Hey just some tips on playing spore in the cell stage. Firstly, you can become an omnivore early on in the stage through adding both styles of mouths to your creature. This grants a great deal of adaptability to your creature in terms of food source. Late cell stage you can get the proboscis (mosquito style mouth) which allows you to eat anything and eat things alive. If you get the fins on your cell you can turn noticeably faster which means you can out maneuver your prey/predators. And the jet just gives straight up speed. These two in combination work really well together and if you have even one of these then the flagellum (tail thing) becomes quite negligible. Poison not only leaves a cloud of poison behind you but also makes you immune to poison. This is particularly useful as you can deal damage to larger cells even while running away from them. Great with the jet. Your mouth can be too small to deal damage to larger cells too. In those instances the only ways to kill those cells are through spikes, poison, and electrocution. Once you have killed them though their corpses can remain whole and the only way to break them apart into bite size chunks of meat is to stab and rip them apart with your spikes.

If you want a game that's just the first stage forever, look up flOw. PC version is free and was a part of the master thesis of Jenova Chen. Playstation version has more options and is from ThatGameCompany (Chen's development studio). No DNA splicing though, just eat and grow and avoid being eaten.

I wish they got a Sid Meier Pirates! 2020! We are long overdue for a new tech update for this game. There has been like 3 or 4 tech update releases since the DOS days (yes, I played in the DOS days). With today's technology, I say 3D avatar and customization. I kinda like the assassin's creed odessey ship combat, loot and upgrade system.
