The jellyfish is gorgeous. As someone who made a wood and paper airship that was over two feet long, I feel your frustration, as it doesn't diminish any with larger models. Paper or cloth over ribs is just pain.

Thank you! I can imagine it being even more frustrating on larger models with more sections. ...But I love the look! :D

Thanks a lot, I will definitely make more creatures in the future, but it'll take a while...

This is absolutely beautiful, honestly if I saw this in a shop somewhere I'd likely buy it instantly due to the overwhelming cool factor. Masterfully done!

Thanks a lot! :) - Though I would consider making another one as a commissioned piece, it would be quite expensive for something completely useless I'm afraid :D

Yes as already mentioned in the comments the Jelly Fish is very well fabricated with the extra of being pleasant to look at. Envious, envious am I about your new lathe. So nice. Happy, satisfying chip making ahead of you with each use of it.

Thanks a lot Brian! :) - Yes, the lathe is really satisfying to work with. In the meantime I turned an adapter to fit my 5C collet chuck, and by this explored the limits of the machine. (at 160mm diameter in steel it started to show signs of exhaustion) :D ...But it's clearly more than enough for anything I'm doing. This month I will also use it on at least one part of the robot kits, I'm really looking forward to it!

The creative designs and tiny craftsmanship in ALL your work is beyond impressive. I have been eager to see your production finally come out, and your updates just keep my mouth watering till then!

Thank you, I also can't wait until its done, but I want to put all my remaining energy into this last scene we're currently preparing, as it has way too much creative potential to rush it. There will be some more "organic robots" like the jellyfish... :)

The jellyfish is beautiful. I might go see your creations up close, as Ausburg is not that far away.

Oh great, I didn't know you're in the region! ...I only have some older creations exhibited, as all the new stuff is still needed for filming. But there are also some nice things from other colleagues as far as I know...

beautiful work, very cool design... I don't think I'd like being your neighbor, though.

Haha, because of the noise? :D ...We have an agreement, when it's too loud she knocks her ceiling with a stick, and when I hear the noise below I stop with the loud work and continue doing something silent, which is 80% of what I'm doing anyways... So far it worked without any fights, let's hope it stays that way with the new lathe as well. :)

Beautiful Jellyfish! I can't seem to find it in your store shop ;-)

Thanks a lot! - Yes, the Jellyfish is not for sale at the moment. It would also be a really expensive piece, as it's a lot of work and material costs to put it together, but I would be happy to make one for a collector if someone is interested ;)

Plastics can obviously never compare to the quality and durability of metals. But what are your thoughts about 3d printers?
@ValentinFelder
@ValentinFelder 10 ай бұрын
Hm, it depends. We have successfully used high resolution (SLA?) printing for molds and puppet parts (Look at my Update Videos from one year ago, it was featured a couple of times), and I think these hard smooth prints can be particular useful to realize organic shapes. I'm not a huge fan of the ABS extrusion printers everyone has, as the surface is too rough and imprecise for anything I do, so that's a prototyping tool at most. And I have never tried metal printing, as it's extremely expensive, but I would love to play around with it once.

Oh, one correction: The "shitty" (quite literally) extrusion printers CAN be useful to make the inside volumes of the puppets, which are never visible but have to be organic shapes which precisely connect to the metal armature. One example of that would be the breathing belly of my boss character ;)

Hi, can you tell me the part name of the worm lathe cover? where i can find that?
@ValentinFelder
@ValentinFelder 10 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if it's sold separately, but you can find it as an optional extra for the lathe's which are sold by Wabeco (Link in the description) - Maybe you can contact them and ask if they could sell this part separately to you, they usually are very helpful ;) - And please let them know I sent you :D
