As far as I know the cup with destilled water is used to clean the needle from time to time. There is usually some built up from cells and ink. Some people also use water to dilute ink, but it's better to use sterilised water or even special dilution-solution from your ink supplier.

The first time you tattooed yourself, were you scared of the pain at all? My professional tattoos didn't hurt as bad as I thought they would, but the idea of tattooing myself makes my hands slightly clammy. I'm really interested in trying it though!
@PatrickMallett4 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. After doing a bunch of research before my first time, I came across the saying: if machine tattoos are like a cat scratch, then stick'n'pokes are like plucking hairs. I remember that put me at ease when thinking about the pain. Also, that comparison is spot on, in my option! Another thing to consider is placement. My first stick'n'poke was on my thigh: not a real painful spot and I was able to use my non dominant hand to stretch the skin and better finesse the needle by not going too deep. I hope that answers your question! :)

what is ur process after u are done poking? it looked like you were abou to wrap it with kitchen paper. if so for how long do you keep it there ? planning to do one this week . cheers!
@PatrickMallett4 жыл бұрын
I'll usually keep it wrapped for a couple hours. Then wash it with warm water and soap. I'll then pat it dry and put on a thin layer of Hustle Butter. I'll continue the washing and moisturizing cycle for about a week, two times a day, once in the morning and once before bed. This is the same aftercare process I follow for machine tattoos (give or take a couple days) and it works well for me. I hope this helps :) good luck!

If you're pretty set on using a sewing needle and India ink, I recommend doing some more research. I don't have any experience with either, therefore can't really give much advice on the matter. @PatrickMallett5 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. All the ink that's visible after I wipe it, is under the skin. But it still is an open wound. Not open enough for ink to leak out, but open enough to where having it covered for a couple hours could prove beneficial in avoiding potential infection. Does that make sense?
