He sells himself short on his vocal abilities, he has a ton of range and he's one of my favorite for both death vocals and clean singing...

Aaron's clean, mournful vocals are unmatched and amazing

He does a fantastic job of selling his more melodic, clean gothic-esque singing in High Parasite, as well! He sounds really good on that track & I'm very excited for the upcoming album.

I really like that you, Arto, allow your guests to speak instead of interrupting them, like some interviewers sadly do. This was an amazing interview! Great questions! I have been a huge fan of My Dying Bride for over 20 years, and it’s fun to see Aaron so enthusiastic about their music. Keep up the amazing work! 🤘😃👍
@chaoszine7 ай бұрын
Well it really depends also about the guest. Sometimes you dont really know if they are ending their answer or continuing after a short pause and those kind of interviews are very difficult from the journalist point of view. :D This one was very easy. :)
@Wolfman_Gaming7 ай бұрын
@@chaoszine Yeah, I can understand that. Once again, this was a great interview and it’s fun to see My Dying Bride get attention. They are, I think, one of those bands that are known by (almost) everyone that listens to Doom Metal, but in my experience, people who don’t listen to Doom specifically, have rarely heard of them. At least here in Sweden. So ot’s great that you give them some attention, and hopefully this interview will lead to more people discovering them, and getting a chance to experience their amazing music. Thank you, Chaoszine!
@Phantom_Mountain_Art4 ай бұрын
@Wolfman_Gaming Oddly enough, I think the first time I ever heard about them was in a Frenzal Rhomb song. Good bands, though both very, very different. I don't think I got around to truly giving My Dying Bride a chance until around 2014 or so, I'm pretty late to the game but I've loved 'em ever since!
@Wolfman_Gaming4 ай бұрын
@@Phantom_Mountain_Art That’s great to hear! I was introduced to them by a friend of mine. I was a visiting him, and he said: ”I have a band here you might like”, it was MDB and I was instantly hooked. 🤘 I’ve never heard of Frenzal Rhomb. In what song do they mention MDB? Rock on!
@Phantom_Mountain_Art4 ай бұрын
@Wolfman_Gaming Frenzal Rhomb is an irreverent Australian punk band. The song is "Edward Sausage Fangs" The bit where they mention MDB, the lyrics read: 'I see your black eyes through the shimmering heat, you look like My Dying Bride with a nametag that says "Hi, I'm Steve". The only goth in the pizza shop' Which is to say, they're not often the most serious band in the world. I'm looking forward to Aaron's new bands upcoming full length. It sounds a lot like Paradise Lost and really shows off his voice in a nice way. Have you checked that out yet?

It all started with As the flower withers back when it was released and became Album of the month in the Dutch magazine Aardschok. I bought the album and not long after also the EP's preceding that album. Aaron says he never lost his voice, but I was at one gig where he only sang clean vocals, due to a cold I think. This was during the tour for Like gods of the sun. Still a great show, although I missed the harsh vocals that night. Luckily I have seen them plenty of times over the years. Although the first gig took some time. Anyway, they are still my favourite band, and I regret not approaching Aaron before one show where he was hanging out at the merch stand. Star struck at the time I think, while he is only 5 months older than I am. 😁 I have seen several interviews and it is always very pleasant to watch those as he comes across very friendly. I tried to sing along the MDB songs (even did Your river live once) but my voice is not really suited for this kind of vocals. Can't do any head voice anymore. I would also sing Queensrÿche and Maiden songs, I can't anymore.

Excellent interview with Aaron. Been a fan of MDB since around '95 and I may be the only one on the planet who thinks The Ghost of Orion is a pure masterpiece across the board. I see quite often fans of the band say they don't care for that album for one reason or another. And now hearing Aaron say he feels the constant layered vocals may have been a mistake, breaks my heart a little. In my humble opinion, as a long-time fan, nothing is out of place on that album. It's perfect as is. Bought the new album A Mortal Binding and I absolutely love it as well. Between Ghost of Orion and Mortal Binding, I'm loving the more mature sound the band has been going in. It's just a shame that last week it came to light that the band have been in some type of discord with each other. I sincerely hope they don't break up. But if they happen to break up, they have left us a brilliant discography.

Aaron keeps saying he is not a great singer, but his voice is actually one of my favorite voices i've ever heard, especially with the British accent, it kinda reminds me of Davy Jones from pirates of the caribbean. I personally think almost everyone can sing, unless you're completely tone deaf, the difficult part is finding out which style best suits your voice. I've always loved belting out the high notes like in phantom of the opera, but i've noticed my voice is more comfortable with singing really low, like the version of sound of silence by Disturbed. I am a heavy smoker though and i pretty much only drink coffee, so some days i can sing with a clear voice, but other days i can only do the extreme vocals, i might try drinking more milk.
