Watch the video. I don’t make the rules. I am simply sharing them.I don’t say things to make you feel good. It is disrespectful to dress in any way you want to while abroad in Japan. I don’t care if you see thousands of people not dressed appropriately, it does not make it right. Don’t be a sheep. You don’t have to agree with the rules to follow them. Just because no one corrects you doesn’t make it right. This yt American woman was saying that because her in-laws and husband, all of whom are Japanese, never complained that it is okay to dress however you want to. A Japanese woman replied and said something along the lines of this; “PLEASE DON’T FOLLOW THIS ADVICE it is disrespectful to dress like this in Japan especially at shrines and temples etc.” Many women complain about stalking, perverts, and being harassed, photographed, recorded or assaulted here and while I AM NOT VICTIM BLAMING OR MAKING UP EXCUSES HERE I will be 100% honest and speak to you in a non- PC way. The reality is that dressing like this makes you and your country look disrespectful and it attracts MORE creepy men. I went to Ginza the other day and almost every white woman that I saw from a child to an adult had on booty shorts and crop tops. EVERYONE was staring at them. Both women and men. People were laughing, whispering, and staring at them in a perverted way and these girls were happy to have the attention and some were carefree. It is NOT empowering, it is called RUDE. I’m sorry that some of you didn’t have parents who cared to teach you how to dress appropriately and that you never went to church before. You wouldn’t dress for an interview with no bra, in a crop top, and your thong peeking out of your destroyed booty shorts would you? Would you want to go to church like that with your grandma? Out of respect you should cover your tattoos, wear clothing that covers your shoulders, back and cleavage, and wear clothes that at least come down to your knees. It is the same rules that I even had in elementary and high school as well as at home. It really is not that hard…. Any Japanese person that cares about you would tell you the TRUTH about the rules here. Just look around you and you will notice that almost every Japanese woman is dressed in modest clothing. You can always find that one off person in central Tokyo, Kyoto or Osaka but maxi skirts and dresses with short or long sleeves are what you will see the most. This video was recorded a little while ago. Yes the mask mandate is gone HOWEVER at some places you are still asked to wear a mask and not doing so is seen as bad manners and can potentially stop you from being served. For example hospitals still want you to wear a mask even if you are not sick. My point was that during this whole pandemic foreigners were complaining the most and complying the least when it wasn’t that hard to do…. If you want to be respectful just dress like you’re going to a casual church event, a casual job interview, spending the day with your grandparents and their friends, or meeting your in-laws for the first time. Would you wear that outfit with them? If not, it might be too sexy for Japan. If you DO dress like a hoe PLEASE don’t suggest that other women follow in your footsteps. You shouldn’t have to be threatened with death, fines, or prison in order to follow rules. Read the room. Do you ladies NOT see all of the stares, laughs, phones pointed at you, and creepy men following you?! How many women do you see REALLY wearing similar clothes to you that are NOT foreign? Anyway I said what I said. Just watch the video. I explained this in the video.

People will take the time to freak out about not knowing enough Japanese language and will incorrectly learn how to bow but they draw the line at wearing clothes that are modest or covering a tattoo. You knew your tattoo would cause problems for you and you are not going to die from wearing a modest dress here. Buy clothes that fit and not clothes that are too tight. Wear lightweight clothing and your problem is solved. Ask an older Japanese woman if your clothes are okay or apply for a job with your outfit and see the response that you get. I can assure you that there are rules for how you should dress in religious places like temples and shrines. No one will force you to follow them but it is disrespectful and strange to not do so. 95% of the people that you see dressed any type of way are: 1. Japanese students highschool and university 2. Asian foreigners and NOT Japanese women 3. Prostitutes & maids 4. Cosplayers & alternative fashion girls 5. Other foreign women such as black, whites and Latinos If you decide to break the rules because you're a foreigner please know that it is STILL viewed as disrespectful and will cause you to get stares photos and rumors/stereotypes reinforced and spread about your race and country.Perverts LOVE the body positivity girlies. You are just creating free porn for them. You are also helping bad men here think that it is okay to touch or even rape you because they think we are all easy and sexually promiscuous. We do not live in a perfect world. You shouldn't have to lock your door or have safe words or hidden house keys etc. but we do because we recognize that not everyone wants to be a good person and danger exists. I don't see why it is so hard for women to accept the fact that there are bad men who will take advantage of them or people who will judge them based on their clothing. It is not about being fair it is about stating facts. Millenials and Gen Z seem to struggle with dressing modestly by covering tattoos and body parts that are perceived as "sexy" a lot more than older women did because you have been brainwashed by your own countries, media and celebrities and you had parents that let you get tattoos and wear thongs since you were in 8th grade. If it makes you feel any better men don't usually wear shorts or tank tops here (but they do sometimes) and it is NOT legal for men to go topless in public in Japan outside of a beach if I recall. So if you are one of those petty people then I guess you can be satisfied with that. Don't quote me on this lol but i have personally never seen someone do otherwise either. Watch the video and ask your Japanese boss and a group of older ladies about your fashion choices and tattoos in religious places.

Ah yes the dumb response to hard truths when you don’t want to follow rules. Of course they don’t care because following rules is so hard for foreign women. No one is stopping you from living your life. How about he respectfully and protect yourself? Makes too much sense right?? I feel sorry for people like you that lack home training manners and discipline. Rules and dress codes exist everywhere and pretending like what you wear doesn’t matter leads to problems everywhere in the world including your home country. Clearly didn’t watch the video or read what I said. That’s the point! People like you that have no home training and misinform other people. Don’t go abroad or even worse go to a place that’s religious just to be disrespectful. What you just said is the textbook definition of an “ugly American”. Doing whatever you want because you don’t care and it’s okay back at home. I even said in the video what the 3 problems were. 1. It’s disrespectful to the country you’re in. 2. It’s disrespectful to the religious place she was in 3. She’s giving bad advice to other women by saying that this fashion is okay. 4. These same people turn around and complain on TikTok and KZbin about being harassed and assaulted or r*ped here but refuse to do anything that helps prevent attract perverts 5. It effects the way foreigners are perceived and unfortunately makes life for those who live here harder because people stereotype us all together as foreigners 6. She was ignoring advice from a 100% native Japanese woman who advised NOT to wear revealing clothing here 7. Her anecdotal advice saying that her father in-law and husband approved is likely untrue and if true doesn’t erase the obvious rules on fashion. 8. You’re providing free p*rn for creeps here by doing this. 9. If you want to go abroad instead of just learning the language you should learn how to dress and behave similarly too. Great learning experience for found people like yourself that grew up without rules or that are stubborn and must do things their own way😉 10. I’d you can’t follow simple rules like a dress code that involves covering your private parts then it’s best that instead of living your life you keep your as$ at home And last but not least thanks for the fallacious argument. When you can’t be right about something just scream “LEAVE ME ALONE! I CAN SO WHATEVER I WANT TO! LET PEOPLE LIVE THEIR OWN LIFE!” Translation I enjoy playing stupid games and winning stupid prizes. I hate following rules but I want to complain about bad outcomes. I have no respect for anyone who doesn’t do things the way I do in my home country. I refuse to respect your country or religion. Accept me as I am because I’m not changing and I’d rather be perceived as ignorant and rude than change my way of thinking or doing things out of respect. Stay home. It’s really that simple.
