She is getting sued on copyright music? Tons of other youtubers don't use copyright but they don't get sued because they aren't as well known. She has made tons of money off KZbin and they just want that. The company looks for ways to get money because they probably are losing money. No Hate just stating my opinion

I don't why people are being a bitch about her lawsuit and her in general. I understand being annoyed at someone because of something you can't put your finger on, but to dislike her so much you hope she loses her case is just heartless. I honestly don't know what she did that makes people think she's a horrible human being who deserves this. So many people on KZbin use copyrighted material, all over the internet they do. Plus I thought she always credited her music, so I'm confused by her being sued in the first place.

I think they are just immature brats, who act like she did something personally negative to them. It's appalling how people can readily wish or hope that someone would fail or lose everything, such as in this case. It's like the lack of empathy in these individuals, which is concerning to say the least.

Michelle is being sued for copyright infringements on over 50 of the songs she uses in her videos. Ultra records who's artists include Calvin Harris, Deadmau5 and Kaskade are suing Ms. Phan for $150,000 per song. Don't get too mad at the artists though because on of the artist, Kaskade, has reached out to her and assured her that this was not his idea and he supports her. Michelle is probably in a dark place right now and could use some support. Good luck Michelle, we love you and your videos!

The look you have here should be your everyday look. Everything about it, from the makeup to the hair, is simply perfect. Dark hair makes you look so beautiful. On a different note... The Laneige compact you talked about in another video is absolutely amazing. The BB cream in it is the best I've ever used and it's so easy to apply! It is $35 but it is so worth it. I love that it comes with a refill too. I've been advertising this thing to everyone and even convinced a few to buy it. Thank you for telling us about it, Michelle! Now that I think about it... I think you're the reason I'm into makeup now, and aspire to be a professional esthetician. After your DIY eye cream video my love for homemade/all natural/organic products blew up. Almost everything I use, from cleaning products to hygiene and skincare products (everything except the actual makeup, ironically), is homemade and 100% organic. I've never felt better. It seems like nowadays the products in Michelle's favourites videos we never get to see her use/never show up in a regime video. That alone always makes me doubt any recommendation she gives, but this video seems even more stilted than usual. I think it's her awkward descriptions of the products, almost like she just took them out of the box for the first time on camera and then was trying to remember what the sponsors wanted her to say about them. That yoga mat wasn't even out of its packaging! None of these reviews seem personalized or honest. I used to swear by Michelle's recommendations. I miss being able to do that.

This is how the music industry works: Musicians spend easily $15,000-$20,000 if not more to record an album. When another company wants to use a musician's song, they must acquire permission. If that's successful the band will receive royalties (a form of payment) from the company for the use of the song. Which these bands who are suing her are entitled to. Not ALL of her profit like the tabloids claim, but they deserve a percentage. It's not as easy as her "giving them publicity". She did it without consent, that's illegal. Nor are they waiting for her "to get rich & famous." If she is a millionaire or has negative $6 in the bank, she'd still owe them. I'm pretty sure they had more to do with their life than sit around & wait for her to get famous to sue. This didn't just happen over night. It takes time to build a case & sue someone. This isn't happening just because she's "famous" & has money in the bank. And "no one watches her videos for the music" well no shit, but you don't watch OITNB, Pretty Little Liars, or whatever else for the music but it's still there, for enhancement & effect - same applies to any & all KZbinrs. And saying "other guru's do it too" & pointing fingers doesn't mean they ALL use copy written music. Some of them have editing software with songs or websites that you can use a song from that doesn't infringe on copy write. I understand Michelle is talented & successful but you need to understand what's right & wrong. Not get defensive on someone's behalf when they are clearly in the wrong. If she wants to be the role model she claims, she'll do what's right.

There is something that doesn't make sense. If the song she uses are copyright why hasn't KZbin took the video down? Shouldn't they be taking this problem to KZbin? She should have gotten permission. They don't need to get ALL of her profits over a video. Though why have they waited to say something now when they could have said something then?

Tori V Of course she used the song, but asking for all the profits is unrealistic. They should at least get 5-10 percent of the profit. They also should at least made a complaint to KZbin before going to drastic measures as to suing and KZbin would have took the video down. Of course by that I meant they don't need to sue KZbin, but they should have let them know how her video was a copyright. The video is quite old, and it does seem to not make any sense to make a dated lawsuit.

Carol Johnson its not the artist who sue. Its their label who own the rights that do. Unfortunately often times those labels wait until it worth sueing too.

I love how everybody just assumes Ultra is after her money as if it's near bankrupt and it's her money that will save the company or whatever, when in fact Ultra is probably filthy rich and a million or two from Michelle does not make any difference to their financial situation. Sure the result of a lawsuit is usually that one party has to give money to the other, but there's always a reason why behind every lawsuit. Let me start by saying I do not agree with copyright laws, I think they're old fashioned and don't work with the digital age we're in at all and also I think that Michelle has kinda helped with the promotion of their music, so I find these kind of situations symbiotic and not at all damaging to either of the parties. Companies are too stict when it comes to these issues, I think they make enough profit elsewhere and don't need to charge content creators. However my personal belief does not make the laws change or go away, if you do something illegal you have to pay damages and that's what's happening here. Michelle is a big time youtuber and I believe that's what landed her on their radar. She also made quite a lot of profit from the videos in which she used their music, that's why they're going after her not some youtuber with a fraction of her viewers (and not because they're jealous of her money). It's also probably to set an example for other youtubers to be more careful any pay the royalties, so basically it's not (only) Michelle's money they're after. I remember thinking how odd it was she's using such high-profile songs in her videos without them taking the sound away as it usually happens, but I just assumed she had some kind of a deal regarding copyright. Now I find it odd that she was so reckless regarding this subject, since she's not exactly new to YT, but what is done is done and the laws speak for themselves. I only still watch Michelle's videos because of the brilliant editing, I stopped being a fan a long time ago, but I do wish her all the best with the lawsuit, because I hate how big companies are going after content creators when they benefit from their content just as much as the creator benefits from their music. I'm sure a lot of people downloaded a song or two Michelle used in her videos so I find these kind of lawsuits plenty unfair. However, Michelle should have been more careful. Sorry for my long rant. :)
