Very nice choices! The paph is delightful y hopefully, will be a great success along with your Blackjack y help you to restore your faith in growing paphs. The oncidiums are exquisitely beautiful in color y in form. So nice to realize your heart's desire! (a la Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam) so satisfying.

An unusual variety of a species may not have been a good choice for a 2nd Paph - 'alba forms' are always weaker than the normal form.

I am now just trying the Miltonia type y if successful, grab my courage y go for a Vanda. I've a new humidifier and it's staying steady at 70%

Thanks. I will be taking great care of those Odonts - I wouldn't normally have been able to spend that much on just two orchids. Turns out, that this cross has bee re-created and the seedlings are quite variable now they are blooming. Both are the same cross.

Good luck blooming the den. discolors. I’ve got 2 & one comes from. Nth. Queensland years ago. I’ve got it in part sun, it has grown 3 big canes in my care (recently) but still no rotten blooms!

There is always a 'trigger' with Dens - it's just a matter of finding it.

Both of those Odontoglossums are wonderful! I'm fairly confident NR means 'not registered' - in other words, it's a new crossing that has not been registered. Hope they do well for your - and looking forward to hearing if you get an ID on that first one.

Turns out, they are the same cross (pale form and dark form) - it turned out a large variety of colours. It is registered now as Tippling.

Hi again, looks like you had a lovely day out with some very nice new plants. According to Travaldos Blog the conditions required for the Antelopes and the Odonts are very different aren't they? The Antelopes are thermophylic with all day bright light and night temps averaging 21 to 22 C and the Odonts as you know are much cooler. I keep my 2 Antelopes in the window and the Odonts on the cool floor in the same room and they seem OK over the last few years. Didn't you buy an Antelope from Spicesotic-plants a couple of years ago in the other place? how is it doing? The Paph is gorgeous too, lucky you.

The two Dens may struggle during winter but others I know have kept them going ok at lower temps - it takes a while for them to adapt and they may not bloom - but I have plans for that.

Wisley is in the middle of nowhere (relatively) and needs a car to get to. If in London, Kew Gardens is a better bet as it can be accessed by public transport and the Tube. Not good in a car though - nowhere to park.

The two most important things are cool and don't let the media get stale/soggy. If they get too warm, they will stall.

I hope when you stain your bonsai table, you put some wax (or something, a crayon?) on the silver nail heads so they stay silver. It is such an incredible looking, almost medieval table, and those brads set the top off. Maybe the stain won’t stick…but just something to think about.

Even though those bolts are 'rust proof' they will eventually rust if not coated.

NR probably meant "Not Registered" but that cross was registered as Oncidium Tippling by Hawk Hill Labs in 2020.

I sent an email and got an answer back - 'Tippling'. In fact, both of the ones I've got are the same cross - the results were quite varied.

Not sure what the jairak parent is composed of but D discolour is an antelope species... So it's half at least from that species.
