I’ve been using period panties for about 5 years now, too… and I love them (so does my daughter). I feel secure and comfortable. One thing I am curious about, have you prototyped any that have snaps on the sides for ease of change while out and about. As someone who has had to change her period panties in a public restroom, it is not a peaceful feeling to have to strip down your bottom half completely to change.

I'm transmasc and have to look into getting a PMDD diagnosis, and I can't tell you how validating it is to hear someone say that menstruation actually can & does affect day-to-day life. It gets...bad. Not to mention, my own Month Problems tend to have false ends; I use a cup (and occasionally reusable pads or clean rags when I can't be bothered) but a couple of pairs of underwear like this would definitely make life a little easier, I think. ...and you know you've definitely hit adulthood when you get excited about laundry-drying systems 💀 Dryers aren't usually used in Ireland and I would seriously be lost without my clothes horse.

I hate having to pre-rinse stuff before laundry day, esp now that I don't have a washer in-home and have to walk or drive to the laundromat, and live with 2 amab people. 😢 But I have one pair that was really hard to get the blood smell out of because I didn't pre-rinse. So I will try to do better, and doing it in the shower rather than the sink seems like a good idea.

@butterscotch27306 ай бұрын
birth control is health related and therefore not a “consumer choice”. It’s weird to me to think about it that way, especially since not all forms of birth control are available to everyone. People should make decisions about their birth control based on their medical needs, not to be a sustainable consumer.
@Rollypollyrory6 ай бұрын
Also side note before anyone else jumps on this comment, not having children is not more sustainable. Don't anyone think they're superior for not having kids. That is a personal choice and should be supported either way ❤️ I am personally on the pill but that doesn't have anything to do with sustainablily for me, it helps minimize pain and something i just found out recently is that it's kind of an antidepressant? Wild 🤷

I mentioned this as well. My IUD has made my period light to nonexistent. I haven't purchased period products in years. Obviously any contraceptive product will only be worth looking into if you are seeking contraception (or are at least otherwise not trying to have children). But for anyone considering contraceptive options, it's worth noting that some of them have the potential pleasant bonus of much lighter periods (or even no periods).

I only have one pair of Kayaness underwear so far, but let me tell y'all, I LOVE THEM. I have 7 pairs of the brand that you (Shelbi) used to use, and my main issue with those underwear themselves is the lack of coverage in the front and how easily they leak from the sides. I have endometriosis so my flow can be unpredictable and some days with that other brand I have to change the underwear within minutes of waking up. With the Kayaness pair that I have, I have coincidentally worn them on my heaviest day each cycle and they work FLAWLESSLY. The coverage in the front is the perfect length and they haven't even come close to leaking. Will for sure be buying more when I have the money! Also, Alter Eco is my favorite chocolate brand and I get myself a truffle literally every time I'm at the store lol

I have a few thoughts! One, congratulations!! When I'm ready to buy a new pair of period underwear I will definitely be supporting! I love high waisted period underwear they are a must! Two, some thing I will say about period Underwear is that I really only wear them to sleep or at home because of the way they work is they keep a lot of moisture in and that can be rash-inducing for me because of sweat down there and it becomes uncomfortable sweaty and kind of smelly if I'm moving around the world wearing period underwear, or even disposable pads in that case. Three, a bidet or bum gun is amazing for feeling cleaner on your period!! Love it

I did the pre-order of the high waist and love them. I really appreciate that there’s no mesh on the high-waist option, like that other brand. As a plus size person, I like that the leg holes don’t feel like a tourniquet, though I do wish they provided a little more coverage for those of us with more front to cover 😂 but that’s difficult in any period panty. Overall, great product and I plan to add to my collection as my budget allows.
@sophiaazevedo40136 ай бұрын
I would say that the amount of period underwear I use per cycle equals the number of pads I used to use. I would base it off that for people trying to figure it out. My period underwear are actually more comfortable than my normal underwear. But the normal underwear I have isn’t great quality - need to find some better options. I got my period underwear from Aisle because they were the first company to make them and they’re B corp certified. But they are in Canada, so Shelbi’s brand might be better for people wanting to support American companies. Haven’t tried her underwear. I personally don’t like high-wasted underwear, but I’m sure they’re great for people who do

TMI question- I just wonder how do you change the cup? for example in cubicle at work? I have very heavy period.. Do you still need to get in with your fingers to get it out? If yes then blood would cover my fingers and there is no water to wash my hands before I touch anything else. With period pants - usually you need to change the underwear which may difficult if you wear trousers or jeans and carry them in your bag for all day… and the nightmare of thought that it may leaks or smells…

Reusable pads can have more than one set of snaps, and I’ve seen at least one brand with a grippy portion on the back. Good that you’ve found an option that works for you, but I feel that at least the snap thing should’ve been pointed out. I got a few pads from GladRags earlier this year, and while I’d prefer having more snaps, my experience has been satisfactory enough; they’re explicit about gender inclusivity, they only use cotton and metal snaps in their pads, and they give back to folks in need of menstrual supplies. I bought them because I’ve kept putting off making my own, which I still might do, adding more snaps and customizing the design to my liking.

Obviously this is not something everyone can implement, but my zero waste period routine at the moment is....having an IUD. After my IUD being in for a couple of years, my period got to where it doesn't come most months, and when it does, it's light enough that I often don't even bother to have any pad or anything, I just free bleed and wash my underwear (there isn't enough bleeding to leak through my underwear). It's been an extremely pleasant side effect of the IUD, Worth taking into account if you are considering contraceptive options. (Before the IUD, I used both a menstrual cup and period underwear, and I enjoyed both. Side note, I have never pre-rinsed my period underwear. I just throw it in the laundry. Everything has been fine so far.)

It looks like your underwear brand has good coverage. I personally just use my period underwear for a backup in case my cup leaks, but it only has the pad part where the normal underwear lines are! I really love the cup b/c I can't feel the blood falling out and I feel I can go longer without emptying it than what I do changing a pad. The downside to a cup is that when you need to change it in public, you better hope it's a single person bathroom with the sink in the room. I've had to change it in a normal public bathroom and I came out with blood all over my hand. I know I've heard of people taking their water bottle in with them to rinse it and rinse their hand, but I'm just supposed to sit it on the ground!?! yuck!

what are your laundry closet door hooks called? I looked all over the place and couldn't find anything like them, we have the same setup in our house and those hooks would be amazing.

I will definitely be buying them to try them.

I can’t believe I never thought to bring my period underwear into the shower with me…. Did that right after watching since it’s my shark week and boy oh boy, great decision. I’ll also be trying out those boy shorts to sleep in! I’m always running out so it’ll be worth it!!!

i don't have a super heavy flow so i just wear one pair of period underwear a day (well, i guess 2- one during the day and one at night). a thong when I'm just spotting, then like a full coverage brief type, and then boxer style on my heavier days.

I love how wide the absorbent sections are in those undies!

I love the air drying method. Do you have an issue with the clothes making puddles?

Question on the bidet use: how do you dry yourself off? do you still use toiletpaper or a towel and if second how often do you change it (e.g. after every use, once a day...)?

I don't like my Think X one. I also don't like that option so I'm going to for more biodegradable pads instead.

Ha I just realized I like watching your videos just for hanging out with you like a friend cuz my spouse walked by and was like how do you watch 20 minutes about such a simple thing 😆 1) buy period underwear 2)bleed 3) wash said underwear 4) repeat. Done. They don't understand 😅

I'm still very happy with the re-usable cotton pads I have however if you ever decide to sell the toilet cleaners you mentioned before in your other videos, I'll buy from you. I'm just overwhelmed with the concept of making a toilet cleaner.

Do you know if there are plans for more styles in the works? I’m a little worried the high waisted ones might show above my pants
