So informative. Been struggling for years with consistency Christo. I can begin hitting the ball well and then all the sudden start hitting like I never played golf. Once you start hitting bad slices its hard to get back in sync. Try to adjust only to start pulling the ball. Frustrating indeed. I am ordering your book today and I may take you up on the personal video training. thank you again. Mike

Ok, starting tommorow after years of frustrating golf swing inconsitencies. Im doing this classic swing stuff. Just wish you could stop by my golf course in KY to make sure I do it right. Change Grip, Stand at address properly, weight on heels, backswing (club, hands,arms then shoulders) downsing ( hips first, magic 4") keep the grip, finish swing. Oh Man.. soo nervous.

Lower body is everything. Percy Boomer had a picture in his famous golf instruction book, On Learning Golf. Everything above the line (above the waist) was passive. Everything below the line (below the waist) was active. Some people have claimed this was Ben Hogan's go-to instruction book.

But not true because in a one piece takeaway one must activate the core, the core is first gear, the legs second gear, IMO. Don't ever forget the core.
@NewJerusalem775 жыл бұрын
@@perserverance333 Well, it's all feel when it comes down to it in my opinion. Some people feel things differently. I think thats why golf is so difficult. I like to think about the entire body moving back together with the arms and hands being passive until they are forced to react. My suspicion is, and what Bobby Jones taught, is the real takeoff originates from the left foot. In my own swing, I dont necessarily think about it, it just happens. It's a micro move, a tiny forward press, just a reaction to the target. I honestly never think about the core, although I know it absolutely has to turn to get everything in sync and in position. My swing is rotational but I feel it begins with my left knee turning back. Carl Lohren liked teaching the left shoulder down and back. I think it just depends on the player. When I play my best, I honestly don't really think about anything except the target. But, I agree, the core must be important. That seems to be what the pro game focuses on and they are better than me.

My Swing Evolution Christo I have followed you for over 6 years now. As you know we both fell in love with Ben Hogan's swing about the same time. I have always loved our comparing notes with one another. If you ever see Jack Nicklaus again don't forget to tell him I named his special twirling action of the club head ' the twirl waggle'. I hope the term catches on because it really can help anyone feel the weight of the club head before starting a game. Also I can only hope to meet you if you are someday in the Boston/ Manchester NH area. In fact if you ever land in Manchester NH Airport I would love to pick you up and take you anywhere you needed to go. Cheers

My Swing Evolution ❤️ your term” “The magic 4inches (of impact)”. Did you later on in your video expand on all the benefits these magic 4 inches produced? Having just devoting 2 hour on a grass practice session aiming at targets; along with starting all my swings with a slightly opened lead shoulder; I experience more consistency and accuracy then ever before. Thank you for reminding me of the magic 4 inches although i never called it that before.😀👍

@Christo - Your head almost never moves, maybe 1 inch at the most in the back swing, and it stays or moves slightly down in the back swing as well. Everything is rotating around your head really well. I know this means you are very focused on something with your eyes. Is it the ball, a spot behind the ball, or something else? THANKS!

I had the intuition feel of the move and got my dad to take a vid in my living room, posted it in slow mo captioned figured something out. DJ was the first pro to get it from George the week after thanks to Tristan Gretzky who already went to GG. Everyone on your does it now. More and more every year. Wolff, all these breakthrough players are benefitting from the move. We are in the golden age of golf.

The classic swing evolved, IMO, due to wooden shafts and clubs and balls not made for distance, hence as a way to generate power. Most long drive champions use a classic swing, but it's not necessary today with better equipment and stronger athletes. When it's used on tour, generally it's guys like Daly and Watson, but not always. I agree more people should try it, but yet again I also believe that in some respects it takes more athleticism to master a classic swing, probably why it's not being taught as much anymore. Hogan and other legends to me look way more athletic when they swing compared to today's players, except for Rory, of course, that guy is just smooth power.
