Saturdays I'm trying to post Silly random videos... aka Silly Saturdays
As for this video
Without telling me what I was doing Dave Cox and Wil Wells introduced me to this fun little experience.
I did a search online and this is what I ate
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acmella_...
This pretty much describes my experience:
"Eating a whole flower bud results in a grassy taste, followed by an extremely strong tingling or numbing sensation and often excessive saliva production and a cooling sensation in the throat."

I'm growing these, they start from seed and grow like crazy with light and water. You can eat the leaves, stems, flowers, everything. The scientific name is spilanthes, which is fun to say. The flavor is best described as mouth-watering, it slightly alters your sense of taste. Pairing with fresh parsley synthesizes a refreshing juicy mint gum flavor.

I wonder why it's called a "Szechuan" button when it is from Africa. Sichuan (used to be spelled Szechuan) province in China has something called Prickly Ash/Sichuan Peppercorns... so maybe it's named after the sensation. Sichuan Peppercorns give your tongue/mouth a numbing sensation, and it's almost always paired with chili oil. There's an entire dining experience around what's called málàhuŏguō or, literally, "numbing spicy hot pot" where people cook veggies, meats, noodles, and seafood in a pot of boiling numbing spicy soup.

I just had my first Szechuan Button experience last week, and it was INTENSE! Next time you introduce it to someone, I highly recommend waiting until they are... well, drunk. They have a much stronger reaction.
