Hi my name is Lilly and I am an American expat living on the island of Koh Samui in the gulf of Thailand for the last 9 years. My husband is Thai and his name is Wat. We have two boys named Luke and Leon and a new baby girl named Lyla. Nam is our Nanny and she is like family to us. She is from Myanmar and has worked for us for over 7 years.

Interesting view point. I'm married to a Japanese and we have kids and I honestly never thought about these issues regarding Lilly's life. Since I am American I would say there is less of these issues in Asia and much more of these issues in America. However for mixed kids there seems to be an issue with people in both Thailand and Japan thinking they are not true Japanese or Thai because they are mixed. In Japan mixed kids are called "Halfu" meaning half-n-half.

Hi Lily glad to see the family is whole again and Wat is doing a little better. We’r praying for Nam to get her passport this must be very worrisome for her! Unfortunately communication with with all government embassies these days is difficult worldwide no one ever answers the phone and theses no answering machine grrrr….. emails are also hit and miss as the weather anyone gets back to ya, I’m guessing it’ll be better to camp out at the embassy till ya can speak to someone. My Thai wife has had some experience with this kinda thing as she used to hire folk from Lao and Myanmar before she moved to Canada I’ll ask her if there’s any tricks to sorting this. Glad to see Wat back. I lost my dad he was only 66 yrs old. I went through a lot of emotions the worse was I was very angry. And I didn't know why. It took me over a year before the anger went away and I could process the sadness. We all go through the grieving process differently. Hopefully Nam will get her passport ok.
