the Norns where mentioned to replace the Hierodules when we got them. BUT they are way to weak to do that and at to high point cost.

@@miztahmonstur yea, if we look at the Scythed Hierodule datasheet it got 10 x S14, AP-2, D3+3 attacks and a 3D6 torrent S6, ap-2 D1. and are more tanky. so yes the Norns are way to weak at about the same cost.

@@miztahmonstur yea where really sad when they removed the 2 Hierodules as i got one of each, and not even when we got the codex but at a rules update and not even mentioning it. but yea the Norns have dropped a lot in points, but are still expensive, would rather have them as strong as the Hierodules they where supposed to replace and have a higher points value.

im a minute in, they specificly adressed them not being characters before they released. That is a balancing decision, and was actively acknowledged over a year ago

Best I can find so far referencing this is from an article that reads "They’re both SYNAPSE beasts, allowing them to direct nearby critters in pursuit of their purpose-bred goal, but neither is a CHARACTER, and so they can’t be your Warlord - these monsters are more akin to a cruise missile on legs than their scheming, strategically-minded Hive Tyrant cousins." Is there an interview that goes further into balance decisions regarding them? Edit: Had to remove the article link because KZbin hides the reply. If you do know what else there is and try to add a link KZbin won't show it to me. I would appreciate just telling me what to look for so I can see it.

The Psychic keyword on the Emissary is for the psychic weapons, but honestly that's one I wouldn't have minded if they left off the data sheet; Psychic only makes it so you can get nerfed from weird dudes. Also the OC from Crusher is new, so maybe a bit of a stretch for that comparison. Having the Assimilator in Vanguard is an interesting take though, most people say Assimilation for no reason other than the name!

@@Adonidus Yeah, I get why Emissary is a Psyker just feels odd they left Assimilator out to dry on being special. 😂 I also did note that the OC was new, it was just something that made me think about what else could get to 15OC. Lol honestly, it has become a pet peeve of mine that people want it to have Harvester.

Norns really need to either go up to T12, or need to drop by 10+ points each. Personally I'd like to see Emmissary at 265 with character keyword, and Assimilator at 255 without it (not sure why the assimilator is more expensive when it is worse) but i doubt that will happen. I think assimilator could at least drop to 265-270 though if nothing else.

The Norns are terribly anemic for the almost 300pts a piece. They are useful, playable and a bit tanky indeed, especially for pushing up and holding no mans land primary. They are just way too damn expensive for what the do, the Assimilator especially. Why he doesn't have at least a 5++ is insane.

Question: If the Assimilator gets +2 to the charge, and you play him in Synaptic with that charge bonus on top of it, can you make a 16 inch charge, or does it max out on 12 no matter what?

@@Dewoy1 For a charge to be legal it has to be within 12" so unfortunately cannot unless I'm missing an FAQ. But, you can make a 9" charge coming in from reserves 6".

Not having character and monster is an advantage. Because you can score bring it down and assassinate on the same models meaning you give up 8 vp from a single model.

That's true to an extent. However, it isn't a problem we are unfamiliar with. Our Tyrants, Old One Eye, and Tervigon are already both. It wouldn't be a winning strategy to take fixed into us with this and the odds of drawing both are low. We rarely take more than 2 Monster Characters as it stands.

Tinfoil hat take: same as the Ork Stompa. They want you to buy three Gorka/Morkanauts for almost the same price each for the same points. I’m not as familiar with Tyranid points costs but these guys seem to underperform in every batrep I see them in and I look at their datasheet and think “is that it?”
