I've gone back to playing PC1 lately. It's my comfort game and I know how to play it to build parks the way that I want to. I'm with you in that PC2 has a "different game" feel to it. It's hard to explain, but it almost feels like I have to relearn how to play the game, and I think it has more to do with the missing features that were in the previous game versus any of the new features. These updates are very encouraging though. I know PC2 will hook me at some point, but for now I'm content with taking my time finishing up my parks in PC1.

I get exactly what you are saying I never thought I would go back to playing Planet coaster one but I did and I don't hate Planet coaster too but I just felt like if you're going to release the game at least have the basic necessities in the game that were already in the prequel. You are essentially releasing stuff as updates that should have been standard in the game. It was just a little bit too buggy for me and I grew impatient

I've been playing other games entirely, but I have PC2 on standby in my Steam library for when the game is finally enough along that I can build what I really want. As much as I like PC1, PC2 just runs so much better in comparison. Once we get all the old features and themes back, combined with all the game-changing new features, at that point I see no reason to go back to PC1 ever again.

"Maybe this thing isn't for you" in this situation is a cop out that only benefits, at best, fans butthurt by their game receiving rightful criticism. Does not benefit the devs (less sales), does not benefit the game (less positive criticism to point out flaws that can be ironed out), does not benefit the other players (less willingness by remaining players to speak up about problems). If you do this to games you like, you're kicking them in the shin.

What annoys me the most with the "negativity" around this game (and many in the same situation) is that there is an equation of "there are stuff that should have been there at launch" with "this game sucks". I agree Planco 2 felt a bit lacking, especially on day 1 (it's much better already. some changes to the UI flow are already massive improvements). But it was possible to have fun and build nice things within the game right from the start. As I always say "we should push to get improvements if we can (and here, we can!), but saying a game sucks is an exaggeration when many people have already started building mega parks and spent 100+ hours on it in a month". I'm about to make a controversial statement that will shock the average gamer to the core. But I am a dev. Not in a game company, but I work with Unity and 3D. And seeing how much work a modern game like Planco 2 would require, I think gamers have grown to have very unrealistic expectations of what they should get for what price. I blame, mostly, free-to-play games, who have completely distorted the perspective of the consumers (despite most free-to-play actually failing and not being profitable), as well as this false idea that "it's easy to copy paste stuff from the previous game into the new one", which is utterly false from a technical/programming standpoint. And also, with the increasing economic troubles going on in the world, prices for video games are likely to go up. In fact, I would even question if free-to-play will still truly be a thing in 10 years, because the model is becoming increasingly unsustainable. At the end of the day, developers must eat and pay their bills. In a context of a worse world economy, "free content" and "free work" (including unpaid overtime, which carries the game industry HARD right now) will become more rare, and this is going to affect the game industry and the Internet a LOT. Gamers had it especially good in the last decade in terms of prices. But I don't see that continue forever. Gamers will have to accept a "degradation" of what they can get for their buck, or otherwise they won't be able to play anything anymore in the long term.

I really thought that they’d have some kind of entry ticket booths to purchase tickets before entering the park in PC2 especially since so many people made ticket booths in their parks for PC1. Even if some guests had “pre purchased” and walk straight through the gates and then others use the ticket booth shop front to stop it being awkwardly slow to fill the park

There's a lot of reasons that this game has less players, but I think one of the biggest ones is that to run this game efficiently, you need a newer and stronger computer system, and that means more invested money than just buying a game. For me, I'm right inbetween. My system can run the game but it's blotchy and I can only play casually (plus the bugs and crashes), so I haven't played as vigorously as I'd like. It's a bummer but that means over time I'll have to wait to get into the game more. I've always been "behind the curve" so I assume by the time I'm able to get a better rig, Planet Zoo 2 will be the new big thing and no one will be playing PC2 (haha, but seriously, the gaming community is so quick to move on). But then again, there's a LOT of other reasons, from external forces like community bias that ruined the "fun" of the game, to internal forces like Frontier not giving us the basic "not aquatic park" sets (this doesn't bother me but I know it bothers a LOT of the community). That being said, there's still hope so long as the community understands they need to be patient (something we've lost as humans over the last 50 years).
@scaryhobbit21112 күн бұрын
Your assumption in the last sentence is pretty obviously false: You can't build rides, coasters, and waterslides in a Planet Zoo 2, and not all of us really care to build zoos and micromanage animals. We are two separate audiences. Furthermore, the biggest reason why PC1 fell off after Planet Zoo came out was because 1) that game's engine is NOT suited for mega parks despite everyone's efforts, and 2) because they stopped developing anything for it. It all ended after the Ghostbusters pack and Planet Zoo's release in 2019. Frontier to their credit is now focusing on supporting PC2 and Planet Zoo 1 at the same time, which is a nice change from before when they abandoned PC1 to focus on PZ. If they can support both PC2 and a future Planet Zoo 2 simultaneously, that can enable Frontier to keep growing both and do some really special stuff... liiiiiike a crossover? That would make both audiences very happy.

Only just noticed this whilst watching your video, the top left of the image has a guest that's higher than usual, guests usually lay down on the flumes so maybe guests might sit up in an update? That or maybe we're getting a new type of flume, I think he's too short for it to be one of those stand up flumes, but who knows haha. Anyway, I'm unsure where I stand with Planet Coaster at the moment. I think Frontier being transparent is great and it's nice to know about these features, but I think everyone is aware how bad the water rides are in game, and a lot of that was mentioned during Planet Coaster 1's development and they didn't really do much with it. Some prebuilt coaster pieces are jank too :/ however, I think with the announcement of jettison & flumes having a rounded bottom, it gives me hope! I hope they do well and I hope people come back.

@scaryhobbit21112 күн бұрын
Judging by the comments under this video, this roadmap announcement is really doing a good job filtering out the fanbase. Yes, everyone knows Planet Coaster 2 was rushed. Yes, it should have been either delayed or put in early access. To me, when the company is now fully out in the open on its intentions to fix the game and make it truly great, there comes a time when a line should be drawn between constructive criticism to point out things to keep fixing... and those who just want to shit on the game and scream that its dead. Because the truth is, as harsh as the rushed launch was, neither PC2 nor Frontier are dead: It was announced today that Frontier returned to profit in the 2nd half of the fiscal year thanks to PC2 and PC1, when prior to this the company was hemorrhaging money due to their F1 and Warhammer flops. This is very good news, as it's bought them the time they need to bring this game to its full potential - which will lead to continued sales in the future. Eventually there will be no reason to go back to PC1 at all, as PC2 will have fixed everything and will be the superior game in both gameplay and content.

For me, I really hope the "guest navigation" improvements are what I think they are. The first game, although it had pretty bad issues with guest navigation / pathing, is still miles better than this game's pathing and navigation. Guests don't spread out over paths properly, tend to bunch up in weird ways... That makes the game feel way too un-realistic and kinda removes the sim aspect out of it.
@JumpySnake-608813 күн бұрын
I think maybe the reason to why the game has a different feel is because of the saturated graphics. It makes the game feel a lot more cartoonish and a little less realistic which was probably what they were going for. They probably thought it suited the theme park style a lot more. Personally though I like the less saturated graphics but it’s not like it’s a flaw in the game just an unfamiliar style

Many things/issues has already been improved/solved. That's worth a big Thumb up to Frontier! But: I need to confess that I still haven't bought the game yet.Why? As I've mentioned many times in the Frontier-Forum, I'm actually a very visual person. That means the I attach a lot of importance to the visual which also includes the graphic style of Planet Coaster. No, I don't talk about the graphic quality of the game (e.g. the lightning/shadow effects etc.). What I mean is the graphic design, especially the color scheme and also the choice of color of the plants (the green of the palm trees are far too light'n bright). Please don't misunderstand me. I'm not expecting a hyper-realistic game design. But I would prefer the design of Planet Zoo. I would even be happy with the design of PC1. But the design of PC2 is too cartoonish for me, the colors are sometimes too bright. The other point is, that there're some textures that are very horrible. E.g. the water in the water rides!!! Anyway, I don't want to expand on this topic any further. In any case, I would really like to see the visual style improved. I don't know if it will work and it doesn't have to happen soon (it's not the most important thing for most people), but my purchase decision will depend on it. ;)

@scaryhobbit21112 күн бұрын
PC2 does not need a revolution. You are confusing the bugs with the core of the game itself, which is actually very solid. What PC2 needs is the bug fixes, management adjustments, and content (rides, scenery, features, etc.) needed to raise the game up from being Decent to Great. The only *core* feature that I felt was lacking was the flumes, and Frontier is working on totally overhauling them at an incredible rate - Far quicker than what I thought they could do. I thought we would be waiting until Summer 2025 or longer for them, if at all, but instead they are teasing it for March! Edit: News has also broke today that PC2 was successful in bringing Frontier back to profit this past quarter. It's harsh that the game had to be rushed, but this is still very good news for the future of both the game and the company.

I honestly don't know if this game will ever live up to the notion of being a true sequel. From the very beginning, it felt like a cash grab. At best, a glorified expansion pack. I really, really want it to be amazing as I have just been chomping at the bit lately to play Planet Coaster but am tired of the original by now. Unfortunately, even if they do get PC2 to a place where it feels like a worthy successor, it will likely be at least a year or so before it gets there. Right now, it just feels empty, lacking, broken, undercooked, missing basic-ass features, low on content, the waterparks are a complete joke, and I'm just gonna say it: it's too consolized. Playing on keyboard and mouse feels so obtuse and clunky. Playing PC2 on PC feels like wading through molasses to do anything because it was very clearly designed for controller, which to my dying day I will never understand. Planet Coaster is first and foremost a PC franchise. I desperately want to give this game the benefit of the doubt, but no matter how hard I try, I just can't. I have to be honest with myself: it was a lazy cash grab. It just was. It will take a mountain of work to turn it into something that actually feels like it earns its title as a sequel to Planet Coaster.

I am growing so tired of people’s expectations when it comes to games, more specifically sequels. We have no idea how easy it would be to implement the things we are asking for, no idea. It’s a completely new game engine. Since they’ve introduced scaling, for all we know adding content from existing games may be very time consuming which equals money. Well, a few things: - it's not a new engine, it's their own in-house engine and an evolution - most people do not complain about new stuff lacking, they talk about stuff that was already in 1 and is missing for no reason - the game has a hell lot of bugs that make the game unplayable (the nature of these games has it, that it's not the same for all. I for example am lucky that I don't have that water bug, but other people can't remove water. It's game breaking) So all in all, it's totally fine if people say they're happy.
