I found the exact opposite in Vietnam. The girls are extremely interested in relationships, I’m there twice a year for several weeks each time. I have to look for excuses to get rid of them, either trying to stay at my condo, and basically move in after a couple of dates. In a way, Vietnamese women are just like American women, they want to guy who is stylish, carry’s himself well, and has something going on in his life. Vietnamese girls want an exciting life, a guy who can make them laugh, who can teach them new things. Similar to the USA, if you have no game there, you probably won’t do very well in Vietnam. However, if you have a good game and do well in the US, you will do great in Vietnam, three or four times greater than the US.

There is different perspective b/w Asian women and western women You guys need to understand before getting into dating world. One main thing: Asian ladies mostly look for one to get married not to fool around. Of course, they are serious and frustrated at the first place to find a common ground for both but if you show your genuine, patience, and trustworthy you would win their hearts easily after that. Do it again guys and good luck. 😁😁

Agree with the relationship thing. I'm 36 and I've gone out with girls 18-30 here and 90% of the time it's been a one night stand type deal where it leads to being a casual fling that lasts a month. It's weird! It does take time to find a girl, but the women here are quite lovely. Older guys with younger women though is not a thing here. You don't see it, the girls are not into it. With that said, for younger guys don't come here thinking women are easy. You still need to be in shape, look good, dress well, have something going on in your life etc. I have a few friends here who struggle with girls and it's because they don't take care of themselves (gym, eating right) and thought Vietnam would be like Thailand. It's more like America with regards to the women.

young viet women have the younger, upwardly mobile viet-men as their primary choice. as you said, so true... even a younger guy needs to have his act together or she will feel embarrassed to let her family know she is seeing him. parental approval is a huge factor even among 30 year old viet-women i've had conversations with.

Wow 9 months already! Congrats! In term of Vietnamese people, yes I agree with you.When you first meet them, they may not trying to please you or get attention from you.But when you show your respect, friendly and approach them, you ll get friendly&welcome respond, the same in my country. People have hospitality to serve and interact with other people it just with the quests but with their own people. For example, when you are in restaurant they may happily to pour water/beer to your glasses, give some foods to your dish, etc. I dont know how it is in PLP.I quest they may be the same. In term of relationship, it is like lucky drawing. It needs times and intentions to find for the right and healthy one. It is good idea to have FL girlfriend from PL, but as you said there are options to meet FL in Hochiminh city. I saw there FL working in VN for the service and education areas, so she experiencing working outside. Have you try this option for yourself? If you can do more VDO about different topics not just about the Filipino/Vietnamese people out of women/dating with women.For instants: their thought toward relationship, life,working, living, earning, believing, etc.as you observing from your local budies will be great information as well to share. I agree with the comment you made about the price / cost of living difference between the Philippines and Vietnam. In my opinion / view - Thailand and the Philippines are just not getting the same numbers of Permanent Resident Western Expats, on the ground, as what they used to because of cheaper alternatives opening up now in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. Yes, the Numbers / Level of English Speakers can be an issue but this will improve with time.

I met several Vietnamese women & families when living in Sihanoukville, who were hawkers or worked in the resort/restaurant or bar businesses. Subsequently, many spoke english quite well, also, russian, german, french, etc. Perhaps, due to the changes in "snookyville", many have relocated in Kampot. Regardless, a visa run to there might result in you meeting a Vietnamese woman who you can communicate with, yet, is a 20 or 30 -something. Being used to the "hustling" aspect of hawking, these women are very out-going, without being sleezy. I heard Phu Doc is quite the place, as well. Looking forward to my own Vietnam experience, even if it means a period of celibacy!

I agree with your overall assessment however with the best of both worlds by brining a PH to Vietnam the issue is if she’s a younger Ph she’s still still trying to figure out her life/career so if u take her out and bring her to Vietnam u most likely will have to subsidize her long term. By the same token if she spends the time with u Long term and then it doesn’t work out after let’s say a few years and then she has to go back home then that’s a few years she has lost in her youth that she could have been working toward her career ambitions and will prob default to picking up random jobs when she gets back. So although I agree it would be great if that would be the case where u bring her with u there are some ramifications to her should it not work out that need to be considered for her well being vs the convenience and enjoyment of having her with you. Just a thought, cause we have to consider their well being should it not work out the amount of time they will lose and the effect it will have on them when they come back home. Just depends on girl...if it’s a girl that wasn’t doing anything to start with and had nothing then that may be diff but if it’s a girl that was working , was studying and gave it up to be with you then those are the ones that we have to be mindful of.

i agree. just as us expats have to be in a position to travel freely, so does the filipina who wants to travel with you. if she's in college or working a job that was difficult to get, then that's a problem. but if she's unencumbered, and WANTS to travel, it's a much better situation. as to financing, to me it's simply the default that i will be covering all the travel expenses. it's unrealistic to expect the average filipina to earn money in a foreign land. the one exception might be filipinas who are already teaching english online.

On a professional lvl I agree they are very good. I found the older Vietnamese rude. The younger crowd was pretty nice though. I did find if I told them I was American they absolutely were rude to me. I am glad they are being nice to you though. Vietnamese food is great and cheap. The traffic is probably the worst I've seen in any country. They will drive anyway they can to get around and they will push you if they think you should go. I know you don't want to say negative things but I'm just sharing my experience. I agree with you on prices and cost of living. Plus the internet speeds and just infrastructure in general is just better in Vietnam compared to PH. I still say the PH is just better overall because of the language barrier and the people here are just so much nicer.

Is it not understandable that the older Vietnamese might be rude, and the younger nice. The older ones can very well remember how (not the American people but Washington past Administration treated ) the Viet people during the long illegal war. Many American people are not aware of the brutality that was inflicted on the local population, but the older Vietnamese people rightly so do remember.

Just in the topic of having a Filipina over to live with you - I did this with my now wife when we lived in Thailand some years ago. I had met her in Thailand and eventually she moved in with me in staff quarters on a uni campus on the outskirts of Bangkok. Just as with Saigon I would imagine, there is a Filipino community in Thailand, consisting mostly of domestic workers and English teachers. While my wife was probably a little bored in our apartment, we had a social life with my friends, a couple of whom had Thai girlfriends. On weekends we’d take a taxi into the city and meet up with her filipina friends. My point is you can achieve a functional relationship situation with a Filipina in SEA.
@Lifebeyondthesea5 жыл бұрын
sounds like you found a good balance in the social life area. just today, while riding my bike, i ran into an expat friend of mine here in saigon who was taking a ride with his filipina g/f. i also know another expat with his filipina g/f here in saigon. if i had mine with me we'd have opportunity to socialize as couples and the girls could feel less isolated.

Reekay's LifeBeyondTheSea Thank you, sir. Social outlets such as dinners with other expat-filipina couples, and her having some freedom/ independence to go mall browsing/shopping with her friends, I think are important. Why not go back to the Philippines for a little while and find and adventurous soul to share all the fun you’ve found in Vietnam? You’re a guy with an energy level of someone in their 30’s, who wants to share life’s experiences, verbally. Find a good match and bring her back. Life is too short to stay in Vietnam, alone. Dating in Vietnam is much better than the Philippines. Pinays have extremely abrasive attitudes towards expats now plus most foreigners are limited to low class chubby girls. The really young and cute ones go with rich Filipinos or Koreans. Middle class girls see expats as sex tourists now and you need to be Brad Pitt to stand a chance in places like Cebu or Makati now.

the smaller towns are more like it used to be, 7 years ago. but not smaller towns like dumaguete, it is too expat-saturated. the big cities, it's 'game-on' with most girls. gotta have your guard up.

I enjoy what you do. You make Vietnam seem like such a cool place. Totally opposite of what I've been taught. I always imagined it like China with a Communistic government that rules with an iron fist. They should hire you on their tourism board. You would be a great ambassador for tourism.

Hi thanks for the great video, I am gonna be staying at the Sonata Residence do you know the place? Would you know if there are good street food near where i'll be staying?
@Lifebeyondthesea5 жыл бұрын
i did make a visit and video there, honestly... i was not impressed. and while there is some food within walking distance, the area of that place is far removed from anything worthwhile in walking distance. you'll need a grabtaxi to get to the nearest collection of food selections or a mall. here is a link to the video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6jWhJurp8SBi9U

Great topic, my question to you Reekay is : are Vietnamese interested to only practice English speaking with foreigners ? What about French speaking? Is that something in high demand or not?

The Philippines is like a third world country to me when you compare to other countries. It's more primitive to me. I follow a married couple in Philippines and they help a lot of people that's poor. It's sad that so many people who are struggling there. Wouldn't want to live in the Philippines. Vietnam is a better place to live, not as primitive.
@PolitiPsych5 жыл бұрын
I would argue that certain parts of the Philippines are third world; however, certain cities, like Makati, are very modern and convenient. The people are truly wonderful in the Philippines.

Completely depends upon what area you are in

Certain parts of every country are 3rd world/slums. If you want to say the infrastructure is poor in the PH then I would agree. But I've traveled all over the world and PH has a great mix of culture, can speak English and are some of the nicest people I've encountered. I'd rather live in the slums with nice people than in Hollywood with jerks and SJW's.
@lenvan50455 жыл бұрын
Yes of course it depends where you go, in Vietnam there are many places with people very poor and struggling, but the still keep thier pride and work hard, is easy to help those that are trying to help themselves, and no matter what thier situation, they are always ready with a smile, that's my experience

@Reekay I'm curious do men in their 40s ever have any luck meeting girls in their 20s there and having relationships (non-bar / club scene related). I know in the Phils its normal. I saw in a previous vid Reekay said in HCMC that you can go to the park and locals will want to speak to you to practice English. I wonder if those girls are open to exchanging numbers and meeting up and eventually having a relationship or is it a slimmer chance than expected because of age? (though I know anything is possible but on average?) Is it just any park in the city or a certain/specific park?
@Lifebeyondthesea3 жыл бұрын
there's much i could respond about this, but i'll do my best in this comment to give you a brief overview. the short answer is, 'yes'.. a 40-year old expat could date a 20-something vietnamese woman. i know this because i've met such men while i was in vietnam. now, that being said, what kind of men and women are we talking about? the men, typically look younger than their age, are physically fit and doing at least average to above average financially. the women, often don't care what their parents think (which is huge in vietnam to be so independent) so factor in what i call some 'black sheep' issues that might be in play. other women are more pragmatic, seeing the relationship as only a stepping stone to finishing college and later marrying a vietnamese man their own age. but you hit the nail on the head when you said one's chances are 'slimmer' than they would be in the PH. as long as you know that going in, you can expect to spend some time before finding a quality woman who is younger 'and' actually does love you. it will be a quest, so don't expect to find your soulmate quickly with those age parameters.

as to the girls you will meet at the park (any park in the city)... while you might find it flattering, 99% of the time they are simply and politely seeking to practice their english with you. they are sweet and attentive, but don't mistake that for romantic interest.

So it's OK to call Saigon "Saigon" again?
@Lifebeyondthesea4 жыл бұрын
originally the city had always been saigon. when the war ended it was renamed ho chi minh city (hcmc) but this was put upon them, not their choice. much time has passed and while in the north (where the govt is based in hanoi).. they will refer to the city as HCMC. here, either one... hcmc/saigon are used interchangeably. the locals within saigon seem to prefer keeping the saigon name alive. even the airport is still listed (as a travel terminal) as SGN (saigon).
