I took the leap nearly a year ago and purchased a Kinefinity Mavo LF. There weren't and still aren't too many around, even in Southern California. I took it on the set of a major studio film production just to briefly demonstrate some optical filters, and many in the camera department had never heard of the camera. It was a bit of a risky purchase bc they didn't have any US-based support and whatnot (they do now), but it's been well worth it so far. A very fun camera and as a previous owner of a few Red cameras, I can say it really is somewhere between a Red and an Arri, and definitely leans closer to an Arri LF. I love having the Full Frame option - it's such a slick look. Anyway, great video! Keep it up!

Never heard of this camera before and I am very impressed by the specs and box-style form factor. My dream would perhaps be the Canon cinema line cameras (have held and fiddled with them). But after seeing this one, this would definitely be on my wishlist.

I think many folks who would normally consider the Kinefinity 8K have gone over to the Black Magic Design URSA Mini Pro 12K (Which is cheaper in price point than the Mavo 8 K), and has a fully functioning RAW codec. These shooters have a full fledged Digital Cinema Production Camera, with all the benefits offered by RAW image acquisition and posting directly in Davinci Resolve. It is too bad Kinefinity chose the route they did with the Mavo 8K, because for many shooters, not having a RAW image acquisition option is a deal breaker. The image out of the older Kinefinity 4K and 6K was really impressive, and I have been a fan of these cameras since the 4K sub super 35 image sensored camera (That camera in particular has a really wonderful, cinematic, textured image 👍👍👍).

Thanks for sharing! You pointed out some interesting stuff... They thought sensor size and image quality would justify the price point. In a way it does, but I totally understand that most would consider the URSA mini pro 12k instead.

@@Hkvisuals Don't get me wrong, the Kinefinity Mavo 8K is a fine and able production camera, but it is far too overpriced, and it is too compromised by a general lack of a RAW recording option. Such RAW options should actually be 16 bit, instead of 12 bit, just like RedCode RAW is a true 16 bit RAW codec. In one sense, there's a certain irony in me stating that the URSA Mini Pro 12K's BRAW Codec is a pure RAW processing codec as compared to RedCode RAW, because it is not. 🥺 I wish BRAW was, but I think BMD will continue to develop BRAW, and advance it forward, where I think it ultimately needs to go.

Excellent Review! Kinefinity now has a presence in the USA (Burbank, California). Products also NOW available at B&H Photo in New York!!! If you want footage that cuts well with ARRI camera's, then check out the Kinefinity MAVO LF and of course the new MAVO EDGE!

Love the content! Being very very neutral with the camera in your video. But I see you know what you're doing with the camera, you use it for yourself to suit your own workflow. I too am quite fed up with most people that commented they need raw for work that doesn't involve VFX. But anyway, great video!

12k for that camera 🫤, I probably will go with RED or Canon even black magic
@Hkvisuals Жыл бұрын
Blackmagic, if budget is a concern... If you go RED you will need way more than 12k to make it functional.
