My thoughts exactly! I only paid 600$ for my Dynasty. Even factoring in the work i did on it i was still under 100$ a month averaged out when it crapped out.

Much agreed with pretty everything he said here. Personally with me, I likely would have gone over it more with a fine toothed comb to see exactly what I was up against, I would have asked what kind of repair and maintenance history it had and if the answers weren't clear or nonexistent, I would have checked everything before driving it too far, esp the belt as they're only good for 60,000 to 100,000 in most cases. If it was an interference engine and the belt snapped, it would have been bye-bye engine or some major league repairs at the least. But with all he said here, I say very well said.

I would still have my Plymouth Acclaims If I were a mechanic.

Yes a 30 year old Dodge I'd only spend $400 to $600 and not a dime more !

An '81 Aires coupe is for sale locally. The seller is asking too much for me. How much is too much for a first year K car that is currently registered and drivable? I'd like it more if it didn't have the 2.6

Well you have to remember it’s a 41 year old car now. Personally I wouldn’t spend over $600 on one. Any car that old you pretty much have to 0 time which takes a lot of parts and labor. All (and I mean ALL) of the belts, hoses, fluids should be changed if you want to make sure things don’t break down on you.

@@LAEXMA They almost never get posted on FB Marketplace or Craigslist, people get cheap beaters from someone in the neighborhood, low buck used car lots won't sell them unless they are in super nice shape. Occasionally I see them in salvage yards and wish someone had posted them for sale online, but they usually don't bother as its a hassle to sell a cheap car, strangers come to your home and you'd rather not take the risk for so little return, or they don't know where the title is. Without a title a $600 car is really a free car as almost nobody will buy it. The nice convertibles are coming up in price, not super valuable, and they don't sell quickly - so the price drops to half the original asking price.

Good morning I agree with you about old cars it not worth paying that much for them, I seems like there junk when there 4 years old and older . I wouldn't pay that much for a new or old used car

I keep looking for a neglected late model Toyota that needs a motor as JDM motors are economical when they are available.

Besides the extended K-Cars, are you interested in other Mopar platforms? LH, JA, etc.

What kind of experiences have you had with the 4 speed transmissions that come with the 3.0? My family used to have a red 1994 Dodge Spirit that was at around 150k and the transmission croaked from there, after a rebuild it was still never the same and it barely lasted 20k.
@LAEXMA4 жыл бұрын
I've personally had a few of them fail, including the one in my current daily driver (91 New Yorker Salon). In my experience they aren't as bad as their reputation suggests. Sounds like whoever did the rebuild on yours didn't do a very good job.

Hey I have a 1990 Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Ave 3.3. The car dies when it gets hot, like after about 15 minutes of running after the fans come on. Very hard to restart and it will not idle. Otherwise it runs absolutely great before it gets hot? Good fuel pressure. Replaced IAC, TPS, MAP and PCV. Any idea? 54k miles CLEAN.
@LAEXMA4 жыл бұрын
I'd check the spark plugs, they could be fouled which would cause poor running. could also be a bad fuel pressure regulator. If not that then it could be something electronic such as coil packs or bad solder joints in the ECM.

Hay man, question I have a 88 Dodge Aires with The 2.5 and it sounds like the timing belt is hitting the upper cover. Do your think the plastic could be warped from age, or do you think the belt could be over tensioned? The belt is recent and it only happens at idle, and sometime it doesn't happen at all so I'm confused. Also if the plastic is warped it it ok to run it with out the upper cover? I appreciate the channel man keep it up.
@LAEXMA3 жыл бұрын
It’s difficult to say if the sound is intermittent. I know some guys who run them without the top cover, but I’m not sure I’d do that long term. It might be worth trying it without the cover for awhile just to see if the noise goes away.

Hi Low End Mopar.. On your video: "A Ride on your 1982 Dodge Aries", i just have a question. I just want to ask what did u do on 3:35 of your video, wherein you turned off the choke or remove the fast idle? Is it just by simply kicking the gas pedal? My '86 Plymouth Reliant also idles high and its my problem ever since. So high idle that i dont need to put my feet on the gas for the car to drive, i just put it on Drive and it will just go up to 40kms/hr then it will stay on that speed. If i want to add speed then il just press my feet on the gas pedal. I dont know where my choke is and how to resolve this problem. Please i need your help. You can reply here, or at my email at conquer.jgl@gmail.com. Thank you so much Sir and have a good day
@LAEXMA4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you just kick the throttle to close the choke.

@@LAEXMA Hi Low End Mopar.. thank you for your reply. I just want to ask what should i do if the high idling will not stop then? Is there a sensor i need to replace or a part that i should clean? Do you think i should check the fuses? Thank you so much
@LAEXMA3 жыл бұрын
I just reread your question. Your ‘86 Reliant would have Fuel Injection, not a Carburetor like my ‘82 Aries. More than likely you’ve got a vacuum leak or a bad IAC (Idle Air Control) valve. Sorry about the confusion.

Words of wisdom on newer cars. And it will only get worse when they force us into electric cars. Good grief. I am not looking forward to cars as disposable gadgets, computers on wheels.
