Furutaka and Kako are your "Boring but practical" ships of choice whenever you want to have a low oil cost fleet. They are a bit worse than Takao-class heavy cruiser but cheaper to use. Well, don't expect much from torpedo cruiser in AL, they can't compare to gunboat cruisers like USN CL/CA. But the special mention is given to Furutaka. Even if she isn't your waifu, or even if she did not have high affection towards you, she is a great girl imo. She is like a newly grown girl, who is curious in everything, and she sees you as a target of curiosity. Well, she'll let you touch her in both form. When you reach high affection point, her line is very sweet. Furutaka Retrofit is extra thicc. Not the best girl in term of stats, but she is a great candidate for a waifu.

I maybe late, but I can still tell you that retrofitting them is indeed worth it, and they do good in Boss nodes. I used her all throughout my Maya/Ibuki grind, and she never got to bad health. Granted she's lvl 115 for me.

Jintsuu pairs extremely well with Ayanami for tanking and buffing her torps.

Post refit, "Budget Takao class" sums them up well Even in art, they're underrated, shame about their artist Kisetsu doing GFL purely now, which puts their chances of getting any skin in serious jeopardy as they're not popular like Belfast (never mind it being in part due to no skins) Never has yawning been so sexy.

Quite a Helpful Review, and you can never escape Sandy Hawk, she's everywhere... EVERYWHERE! especially in the Sandy Server (Oh gawd the spam building) Anyway Great and Helpful Video Hawk! Retrofitted them way back, and I use them as a Mob Fleet Vanguard for Event Maps, Both of them (I have this tendency to place sister ships together in one fleet, lols) and let them steam roll every hostile in the event maps, and personally i love'em both (In fact i love most if not all the Ship Girls in AL, with the Latter Two having 100% Affinity) Keep up the Good work Hawk! Dude the way you pronounce Furutaka, Kako and Takao is funny. Furutaka is often pronounced as Furu-taka while Kako is Ka-ko. Takao on the other hand is often pronounced as Takaw but the proper pronounciation is Taka-o Anyway I would like to see you make a vid for Vampire as well.

In my mind, that's how I'm pronouncing all three of them...I had to fight some of my previous bad habits for languages... Biggest one being rolling the "r" in Furutaka....which is thanks to my years studying Spanish.

Let me just get this info out for all your CA related vids in the future. One of the reason devs added lv cap is because CAs, in general, suck compared to their lighter cousin. While CAs have high HP, this means nothing when mobs can just chip their HP via burns and constant bullet and torp barrages. At lv 120, CAs, especially IJNs, gains repesctable evade boost, clocking at 70s. So you might want to add info on their end game stats as well.

Oh you're fine! I'm aware of the jump in evasion for a CA, just letting you know that I'm adjusting things from here on out! I plan to stick with showing the lvl 100 stats, then showing the lvl 120 stats afterwards (and their difference). The reason I have this is more for the beginners. Reaching Level 100 is significantly less difficult (and resource demanding) as reaching lvl 120. Showing the difference between level 100 and level 120 will help with letting beginners choose their options a bit better.

Hello, I am AP Tirpitz mainer and I just wanted to report that AP guns have super fast reload like 16 seconds fast and honestly I just prefer that much more than having to wait, how long, 30 second (?) before I can even fire once, it result in faster overall level clearing speed, as my frontline has more than enough firepower and torpedopower to take down most of the enemies anyway.

@@Reggro1264 oh god 30 secs what do u even use for a HE gun because the last time i seen a BB HE gun that shots around that time is the Quadruple 356mm. The purple triple 406mm(MK6) shots around 23-24 secs, purple twin 410mm shoots around 20secs and the twin 381 shoots at 18secs and what type of BB ap gun do u even use because gold twin 380mm shoots at 18secs and the purple 406mm(BL 16) shoots at 25secs Btw that's without counting the reload stat of the ship and yes if u have the gun equiped in a ship its probably showing the reload time u get with that ship or something like that Example when i go to my Amagi and see her 381mm its a +8 she shoots it at 17secs

I dont really agree with the way you compared their skill to Takao. In the first 40s of the fight, Takao has 5-6 30% chances of doing double whereas Kako/Furu have only a single 60% chance of gaining 40% fp on 1 to 2 of their shots at most depending on reload times. If Takao procs once, (which shes pretty likely to proc twice there) she gets 100% of an extra shot, while Kako/Furu only get 40-80% of an extra shot on almost a coin flip. Also you kept downplaying their torpedoes too. They have 180% efficiency to counterbalance their lower stat. Efficiency also amps the extra stat theyre gaining from items cause its applied after so just like Takao they actually do solid torp damage, especially for a Heavy Cruiser. They can also abuse Oxy. Should easily hit 2k+ per torp which is pretty good for a CA. Chain Torpedo is just icing at that point. A Chain Torp barrage can be almost as strong as an Aya torp barrage. But obviously 30% doesnt make that too reliable. Their torps are still better than most CA even without chain tho.

Ah...I see my math was off... Went and double checked the probablities...and my results were not my original. Assume 40~s of battle time. Takao fires 6 times and Furutaka/Kako have two chances Takao has a 88.24 % chance to proc at least once (sits at a 0.0729 % chance for all proc) Furutaka/Kako sit at a 84 % chance to proc at least once (36% for all proc). Given those chances with the damages...Takao is actually better...damage wise and proc chance, but Furutaka and Kako aren't too much of a loss. For CAs they aren't bad...but Torpedos aren't usually the selling point of a CA vs a DD (most Torp CAs won't output much damage torpedo wise)

@@Hawk2zer0 yup. I was just saying their torps are actually something you can count on, which is something that cant be said of most CA. Also, in a 40s fight, the second Full Firepower proc would happen when the battle ended. So it wouldnt actually affect the fight. Calcs you did for Furu/Kako would more affect a 1 minute fight. But then you'd also have to factor in 3 extra shots from Takao to compensate the extra time, so she pulls back ahead. But yeah. Theyre still great CA especially for only using common level oil. Takao uses much more oil than them so naturally she'd be better.

The fact that Furu/Kako still have solid torps even tho they also have good guns to is part of why they shine. Most CA trade good torp to get a good gun. They have both. Not the best in either, but still both.
