My thoughts on the Pioneer DDJ FLX6 Budget controller

I have bought ddj FLX6. So before that i'we had Numark platinum for 250€. FLX 6 is a big upgrade. Belive it or not i have done my events like birthdays and even weddings on the Numark for 5 years.😅😅. So the people on the events, they don't care on what are you playing. It is the ambience that matters. I we done upgrades of speakers. I have GREEN ANT subs and PROEL active speakers. For the sound and the cable i'we spend 2.340€. Then the light show. Foger, moving heads almost 1000€. That is the important thing for the events to set the ambience. The sound, light show and the right choice of music. I'we started dj'ing in 1999. I wish you all the best in 2021. Best regards from Slovenia. SNYPER

DJ-ing today is much different than it was in the 80ies & 90ies. All these features today's DJ's are spoiled on didn't exist nor was needed back then. I think a lot of this stuff with all the FX and other typical tricks being done today are gimmicks in themselves. Everyone is doing all the same old tricks that's frankly played out IMO. Playing albums didn't afford you the ability to do what people are spoiled on with digital files. There was no pushing a button to organize or load anything. It was all manual! I did a lot of researching of controllers and concluded that it's really not a lot out there to choose from in the mid range price point. Most of the features some folks are highlighting are only available starting at $700 and above. This controller is aimed at the home, intermediate & casual user. Of course the better features & build quality would be reserved for more expensive gear. Consider the price you can pay for a single turntable or mixer which either can exceed the price of this controller. I had the Pioneer DDJ-SB3 controller & returned it. I knew it was an entry level product and it was decent; but I couldn't get over the Serato DJ lite. $250 for a dedicated controller for a lite version with extremely limited features didn't make sense. The fact that the lite version is available for free for anyone to use was also a bummer. There is no special upgrade pricing to the pro version. It's full price at $129. One thing to consider with the FLX6 is that you get the full version of Serato & the use of Rekordbox. Depending on a computer & software to use these controllers is a flaw in itself. A all in one is probably the best option since no computer is needed!

thanks for your views, and I agree some things they got right, but some are way off like connectivity and build quality £540 in the UK for something that is just too much plastic and no replaceable crossfader, small performance pads. As for the jog cutter we dont have to use it . That being said im all for the full size jogs and 4 channels. lets hope they learn from this. great video thank you

I totally agree in what you said in this video! To many points you have brought up which makes sense. I think pioneer will make a next version of this controller (a small range) to build the gap between entry level and pro. But saying all that how many controllers have pioneer made?? And why do they all look a like? I just feel like this controller is a bit gimmicky for my liking (the scratch thing and the Fx thing.. it just seems like a toy! Controllers has reached its limit okay maybe a few more features (what is useful) but everyone one wants the latest thing this year until the next thing that comes. 🙏🏾👊🏾

Can a Numark NS7II still work with the latest version of Serato? Because I'd sooner buy one of those (second hand) then this Frankenstein's Monster.

Look at the people on the video using it...they don't look like your top notch experienced DJs. This is targeted for beginners. Its cool that it has both Serato and RekordBox.

It’s too expensive for a beginner controller. Since streaming is the game right now cause of the Koof. At least put XLR main outs so you can stream. I get it’s meant for Dj Bedroom use. But fancy features and like you said unnecessary scratch nonsense. Doesn’t make it $600 worth. I say yes to your controller question. I feel the technology has reached a peak with controllers. Outside of all companies embrace making the controller Laptop free like the Denon Prime Series. Everything else is just little changes to push sales and not necessarily the art form

Before the FLX6, the only way a beginner can get the 4 deck CDJ-style jog wheel was to spend $1200 for a DDJ-1000, or more for all other models. This is half that price. Also, developers are responsible for creating tools. The artists are responsible for creating art with those tools.

I think that the argument of the output is not on point with this controller! It’s obviously a mid range controller for enthusiast who wants to progress and maybe later jump to a more expansive controller! I don’t see the point of having a 700$ controller and needing to plug it to 2000$+ speaker! I get your point but it’s not a dealbreaker!
