Great quick review. Short, simple, & straight to the point. Thank you for jumping right into it…

This book sounds really interesting! I will look into reading this one. I definitely think a lot of the issues we have come down to what is embedded in systems and taught to lots of people all their lives, and changing that around could show some really positive results.

SAVY For. Real! After reading this book I’ve seen so many ways that those embedded systems have been running and ruining our lives, and because we’ve been born into it we think it’s the way things should be.

The will to change came about during a time that cisgender wasn't a popularized term nor a term that was used widely amongst the trans community. I think that she interchanges between woman/female and male/man to differentiate between cisgender experience. When she is speaking of the female/male dynamic she is speaking about the cisgender experience of that. When she speaks of the woman/man dynamic its encompasses those that are transgender as well. Though a transperson are what they identify as, cisgendered and trangendered have different experiences in society and within the system of patriarchy. For example in her the book she quotes that "patriarchial white males used mass media to wage war against feminism". In this sense she would be talking about cisgendered white men because transgendered white men had no part in this.

Thank you! That’s some definite nuance I needed. I’ll be re-reading it with this in mind.

You bring up a lot of great points. It kind of felt like the country used to be tolerant, progressive, and moving towards acceptance of everyone, as long as a white man was in the White House. But as soon as a black man won the presidency - a sign of real progress - the ugly, hidden truth came out, and we're now reverting to a more white male patriarchal society. Women are losing ground, people of color are marginalized, and worse. It's really scary. That's so interesting that she refers to 'female' rather than women. Great review!

Book Your Imagination Yeah. I feel like if more of her thoughts in this book we’re practiced in the way we interact in society there would be more societal improvements. But that’s just my theory, it would have to be tested to see if it proves true.

that is a interpretation i accept and there is validity in this interpretation i mean that sincerely ...but why are you not considering the possibility that maybe a very big reason that such a backlash slash whitelash occured is that ultra progressive woke pseudo femenism decided to demonise white heterosexual men as all being inherently rascist homophobic and mysoginistic in order to overcorrect the sins this particular collective commited in the past ...supppsed collective by the way since white heterosexual men are no more a monolith then any other group ...i have allway been a liberal and a leftist but when trump won as much as he repulses me i had to smile at how the smug virtue signalling upper classes got that smug smirk wiped off their after they had kicked down for so long ...

It sounds cool. Maybe Bell Hooks used female because that refers to the biological component of a human? I mean that females like males have to opportunity to select a sexual orientation? I’m not sure but it’s a thought. I wanna read this now 😊

Ivonne Lopez I thought her use of female was interesting because I have heard the correction of calling women female as if they’re an object or an animal, which is an undermining of their humanity. But you are right. She may have used female as an identifier since the discussion is about humans. I think it’s a really great read for understanding feminism when you’re new to it. It was helpful for me since I didn’t have a lot of knowledge on it and it clarified a lot for me. I hope you enjoy it! 😃
