I remember in Ralph Breaks the Internet when Cinderella broke her glass slipper and used it as a weapon against Vanollope (?). It was played for laughs I guess but I thought "She would never do that!" I've always admired her quiet, mature, kind spirit. Something worth emulating in this loveless world ❤

Another big thing with Ever After is they have another scene establishing the relationship between Danielle and her stepmother, and why Danielle stayed. She says "You are the only mother I have ever known. Was there ever a time, even in its smallest measurement, that you loved me at all?" Danielle stayed for the house, for the servants, for many reasons but also I think she hoped 'if I'm a good girl, if I do everything she says, maybe she'll love me'. The shy smiles she gives in other scenes where Romilda speaks to her, you can see that hope.

I'll defend Cinderella to death. She wasn't waiting for a man. And I hope people should stop seeing her that way. She's a strong woman. The fact that she didn't become depressed and decided to su!cide is already a strength in it self. Cinderella is a strong woman. Period.

She wasnt even save by the prince, the mice save her. The mice that she took care off and befriend with. Her kindness is her true superpower

As I grew older, my viewpoint of Cinderella changed from seeing her as old-fashioned into seeing her as an actual mature woman ahead for her age. Any Disney Princess can look up to her and learn from her from Snow White to even Raya. There's just so much peaceful results that comes from someone choosing to have a reasonable amount of restraint and repaying good.

The animated Cinderella is underrated for how good of a character she is. Her strength is her kindness, and in a way she saved herself, because she was kind to the animals and then in turn they helped her at the end. Her own good nature led to her escape, so I think that shows the power of being kind and caring to everyone.

Two things I meant to say but forgot… 1- In the new Cinderella I love how at the end she turns to her step mother and says “I forgive you”. It shows that she is the bigger person but still kind, and she isn’t going to let her abuser continue to control her life. She’s free and at peace. 2- I love how the fairy godmother narrated the film. It made it so she wasn’t just a character who showed up for one scene and then disappeared. She had been watching over Ella her whole life, just like her mother had said. And from a writing standpoint it helps get through more story.

Oh, if you are looking for rare films that your Dad might like I would suggest the "Hornblower" films (action) (featuring Ioan Gruffuld) in the correct order of course, "Airplane" (also known as "Flying High"), "The Naked Gun," "The Naked Gun 2 1/2" (all three are comedy), Zoolander (1) (comedy) and the first two Pierce Brosnan James Bond films. Surely he has seen "Gladiator" (action) but if not, make sure that he sees the the original version, not the extended version. He may not enjoy watching the movie with his son (or children as a whole) and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." Another good (if controversial) movie that people can't enjoy with family is "Team America: World Police." (Comedy) Forgotten tv shows include "Rev" (and you don't need to be religious to enjoy it, the show focuses on entertaining, not converting), (English comedy), the original "Spicks and Specks" or "Thank God You're Here" (The Australian ones, game shows), I would say "Black Adder 3" while others might say "Black Adder 4." "As Time goes By." (Great show for older people) (All three English comedy) Perhaps "Death in Paradise," "Midsomer Murder" or "New Tricks." (All detective) Perhaps "Dirty Sexy Money," (drama show, it is not a porn) or perhaps "The Tudors" (drama show, no guarantee that it is good). Of course, if you/he are/is American, you/he may struggle with a lot of footage. (No, I'm not American or British). Sorry for nothing new.

Admittedly I've only seen the first Cinderella but I think the best thing about the Cinderella story/movie is the message it gives. "Keep working hard and eventually your opportunity to succeed or improve your life will arise." The message 'might' not be true but it is a message that supports the people who need to hear it.

Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella is my favourite Disney movie. Sometimes I have to duck when I say that, people are like *gasp* WHAT! But it's not from the renaissance! It's even pipped Lilo and Stitch, which held my top spot for many years. I love it so much, I find it almost radical that it's so unrevisionist, and by GOD it's beautiful.

the thing about animated Cinderella literally stuck in that abusive household is so true. she's a survivor. in Ever After actually a big part of Danielle's character is that she cares about the well-being of the servants (and the poor in general). imagine what would become of them if she just left without acquiring the means to help them. that also played a huge part in her interactions with the prince. it played out in the story really beautifully on more than one level. in comparison, the 2015 Cinderella's motivation to stay felt weaker to me. also, i just looove Danielle's interaction with the stepmother nearer the end, where she says she only ever wanted to feel loved, with the stepmother's "pebble in the shoe" reply. and the way they landed the good stepsister in a relationship, so brief yet so effective. the stepsisters were actually a lot of fun in the 2015 movie too, i gotta admit.

I always thought her dress in the animated one was white when I was little lol Danielle, meanwhile, with the wings, was always a dove (to contrast the peacock costume on Margeurite) or an angel (to reference when Da Vinci said he “tripped over an angel”) to me…I don’t get butterfly at all, so I’m glad that didn’t stay.

The line in Ever After about her father teaching her to sword fight is a bluff. She uses it to intimidate Le Pugh and trick him into letting her go. She couldn't beat him physically, she had to out-smart him. She let him know, in no uncertain terms, that she would never be his slave/servant/wife or whatever he was looking for. She told him straight up she would kill him and that part wasn't a bluff.

I don’t hate the Disney’s Cinderella 2015, but I have some problems with it. For example, she loves the house, but abandoned it at the end, when she married the prince. And when she is locked in that room, while the prince is looking for all the ladies to try the shoe, she doesn’t try to scape or scream. To me, she is kind of losing her mind at that moment, like scaping from reality for REAL. Seems like she doesn’t care and just want to dream, almost became crazy, for the lack of a better word. I love the original Cinderella and love even more Ever After, such great movies!

To be honest, I can’t disagree with you. Those are definitely some flaws in the remake.

cinderella actuallycame back to the house in deleted scene and book alonn with the prince and the reason why she choose not to get out because she no longer have proof that she is the mysterious princess and becauae people keep making fun of her status being scullery maid “cinderwench”, “smell like a road”, “who are you? how you rule the kingdom” A combination of all of that (and the fact she did not have magic this time) make her afraid to show who she truly is, a maid covered in cinders.

I have honestly been in many situations, where all you can do to keep from going "crazy" is to completely disassociate your mind from your body, from your surroundings, from the horrible things all around you and go into a place deep inside your heart, where you keep all of the beautiful things you've been blessed to experience. I stayed there, until I couldn't feel or see anything that was going on around me. I think that's why Cinderella didn't try to escape in the 2015 version. And also why she didn't seem aware until the window opened. The sound of my loved ones voice brought me back, also the feeling of sunlight or wind hitting my skin.As for why she wouldn't leave the house. I loved my father dearly, I was forced to leave the house after he died. But before I left, I busted every window in the house, and took everything I could load into my car. I destroyed what was left. But if I had been able to choose, I wouldn't have left, because it wasn't a house, it was a lifetime of memories. I cried watching the 2015 version because it hit very close to home.
@villainzlover494810 ай бұрын
Well, I saw it as Ella felt that house was her only home for all the emotional ties it had, but when she finds her new emotional home with the prince there is no more need to hold onto just a house... yeah, that scene of her just signing and the whole house thing may be weak things from the film but I always find that was the real reason she was staying, and in the palace she puts the portraits of her parents so they're memories are no longer tied to the house itself, they are tied to her and her happiness, but while only being in the abusive household and not having other secure place to stay, I guess the house take the the role of "this is happiness". maybe I am making up reasons but I have always seen it like that
@0deadx215 ай бұрын
You do know that Ella knows nothing about a search party involving her glass slipper, don't you. For all she knows some random strangers associated with Lady Tremaine are at the house, and they clearly did not come to see Ella. Also the palace is very close to the house, and the balcony shows all the animal friends that helped her get to the ball, so Ella hasn't abandoned her childhood home.

Lol, the live action Cinderella is just copied from the 1973 soviet Film Cinderella and the three hazelnuts, she's proactive in this film, has her own horse, meets the Prince early in the film, so that they can build a connection, the three wishes are included as well as the doves - remember when they where part of the fairytale? no ridiculous fairy godmother, which is now supposed to be Asha, thanks to wish, and no silly mice taking over half the film + in our version, the father isn't just gone, he's also dead and Cinderella inherited half of everything, hence why her stepmother can't just get rid of her - they all inhereted a large estate together, including the servants - as it was custom in Europe in the MA - so that also explains, why they can't really help her, instead of not having them there and let her care for everything on her own my personal favourites are Cinderella and the three hazelnuts, Ever after and Ella enchanted, the last one not because of accuracy but because it's so all over the place, but even in this is (Cinder)Ella more self-actualized than in the live Disney remake

It's hard to view Cinderella and not be skeptical. The whole fairy tale angle... Prince Charming, Cinderella... it's all stuff and nonsense. A poor young woman hoping that a handsome prince will rescue her... If Cinderella ( the name is a cruel joke...it means little cinder girl) Were more self willed and empowered she could have had Ms Tremaine And her daughters evicted from the mansion! ( The property belonged to Her parents) Tremaine was a golddigger! What about Her Father's money and inheritance? Property? Where did That go? I'm sure Cindi's dad provided for Her in His will? Why were they So Mean to her?? Why did they treat her like a slave girl?? no excuse...was there?
@nataliabidunartvlog55038 ай бұрын
1. She wasn't "hoping" the prince would rescue her. She never met the prince to be hoping for it. She was simply daydreaming to detach herself form her dreary reality. People do that so to not go insane. 2. She may have been poor, but status wise, she was equal to all them nobles. 3. Both her parents died when she was a child, and she was groomed and gaslit to believe she was powerless and worthless ever since she was a child. She did not know any better, because im pretty sure the step mother did not bother educating her on the subject of her rights, how their system operated and how her inheritance worked. And lastly, it was not a 21st century. There were no social workers, councelors and therapists in place, to help a victim of perpetual domestic abuse since they were little. There also were no lawyers to help "evict" her step family, either. No police she could call on them, no restraining orders, no court case she could file against them. In conclusion, we REALLY SHOULD stop judging stories based on historical time periods from a perspective of a 21st century. It would be the same as saying "why didn't they just use cars instead of riding horses back then?"

@@LibraryAmbientJunkie I've seen the movie and unless you explain yourself, I'm gonna assume you're a troll, since they're the ones who are vague and refuse to be specific. Lily James is the perfect Cinderella. Nobody embodied the character's essence and what she stands for better than she does. All the other ones act like performers on a comedy stage show, and their personality is all over the place. What bad message about staying in abusive situations? I didn't know there's one size fits all about all victims, all abusers and all abusive situations, with zero nuisance to any of it. And what exactly about the plot made no sense. It's the only Cinderella film in existence written to make sense, which is why you see new characters and new situations specific for the movie. They are there to help make it make sense.
