I'm glad Me-TV is showing a lot of TV shows in their entirety for possibly the first time ever. This show, "Gunsmoke," and "Bonanza." It seems like they're doing the same for "Wagon Train" as they are now showing the episodes that were both filmed and aired after Ward Bond's passing. We will see if they show the final season when it reverted to black and white when the show moved to ABC. As for "The Andy Griffith Show," well, that's the exception -- and that's a good thing.

The first seasons were the reason the show was so popular. They were kept from the public for some reason I could never fathom. They were the best episodes. What is generally shown of the series are the last and, in my opinion, lame episodes that were simply cashing in on the audience loyalty first earned by the show in its original seasons with William Frawley as Bub.

I think it’s dumb the show was called My Three Sons and the name stayed the same despite there being 4 Sons. And the name didn’t change when they added a daughter to the show. Pretty soon season 10 is going to start on MeTV and I’m not gonna like it. It’s dumb how he remarried. Can’t wait for it to be back at season 1. I agree the best seasons were when Frawley was on.

@@veryfungamesawesome That's pretty much true of any TV show, or for that matter comic strip or book series. The first are always the freshest and most natural, as time goes on in a quest for 'new material' the writers and producers get increasingly desperate and hackneyed. You only have to look at 'The Simpsons' or 'Family Guy' to see how they flounder desperately to remain 'relevant' or popular. Very few of those in entertainment know when to leave the stage. Bill Waterman (Calvin and Hobbes) and Gary Larson (The Far Side) were two artists who left before their material got stale. They left on a high note. Virtually no one else does, however. For most, it's all about the money.

@@veryfungamesawesome I think the owners of the series did a poor job phasing people off and not including them in a sort of remembering calculus as time went on. The first son was, pretty much, forced off the series. As was William Frawley, for health reasons. The mystery of 'Instant Ernie' somehow worked out as his character added a warmth, and yes, energy, to the last 6 seasons. I always thought the move west, and in a big way, Robby having 3 sons later on didn't do much for the overall merit of MTS. But, give Fedderman an A for effort if not for good TV by doing that. One episode stands out, when Robby takes Kate back east to the old hometown for a visit. None of the characters they meet were ever on the series before. Even the guy he was there to stand up for was never seen. Fedderman could have done a lot with the episode and really turned it into a trip down memory lane. Instead, even here, there is no mention of Mike or Bub. They really missed a great chance to have Mike and the wife in for a guest spot on this episode. Imagine how that would have gone?. A nice way to reintroduce them back into the series orbit.

@@sardu55 What I don’t buy is that Tim Considine left the series willingly. Yes he wanted to direct but he wanted to still act. But of course Fred MacMurray was in charge and told him no. He didn’t want his “son” telling him what to do. And he left the series. But there is something we aren’t being told. Why couldn’t he appear as a guest once in a while and not make it like he never existed. Even if he wanted to become a director, he could still guest star. So maybe something else happened that we aren’t being told about which led him to not come back as a guest. I think it’s sad he was forgotten completely after the move to California, because Robbie mentioned that Steve Douglas raised 3 sons. Either Ernie wasn’t considered a son since he’s adopted or that Mike was written out completely which I think is what it meant. It’s also sad that Bub wasn’t mentioned again after he moved to Ireland. Even if these characters never appear again they shouldn’t have completely forgot about them. I personally think Tim Considine was pressured to leave the show for some reason. Maybe they had other plans for a new storyline. The storyline changed after the adoption of Ernie and Uncle Charley replacing Bub. If he truly loved the show he would have stayed no matter what. So I think they tried to get him to leave.

For me, this was literally the first time I had seen the early (seasons 1-5) since they were on air broadcasted back then. METV decided to run MTS, from the beginning, which I congratulate them on. As a 5 year old I can remember seeing the old episodes as we watched them all. Dad was a big fan of Bill Frawley and Fred MacMurray. (NOTE: checked and I was corrected; I did see the early seasons on morning network reruns back in the old days. So, I stand corrected. Either way, MTS wasn't really ever in the syndication cycle (like I Love Lucy, Hogans Heroes, Bewitched, etc) and when it left reruns it went dark. I would be a happy camper if METV would send whoever owns MTS rights and ask them for permission to go back to season and episode 1 and run those episodes prior to the current cycle which is near the end of season 5, 12 episodes after Frawley was canned and later replaced by the bogus and illegitimate Uncle Charley. Since MTS isn't on DVD or anything else (sans some really bad copies of 1 & 2) we're depending on METV to broadcast the series. If anyone still is out there who watches the series sending a letter or email note to them might encourage their keeping MTS on-air and in their regular cycle of series.

Yes and never take it off, MeTV is the only network doing these reruns I think. Seasons 1-7 were good with Seasons 1-5 being the best. The show started to take a turn downhill when William Frawley was forced to leave the series and was replaced by William Demarest, and Tim Considine wanted to act less and direct more and Fred MacMurray didn’t want to be directed by his “son” so Tim chose to leave the series. And Mike disappeared and was never seen again but mentioned a few times. After the few mentions it’s like he never existed, Robbie mentioned in a later episode how Steve raised 3 sons instead of 4. Bub was never mentioned again either after he went to live in Ireland. One of the sad things about this show is that family members are never mentioned again and it’s like they were forgotten about. When Barry Livingston joined the series he boosted it up a bit and I think that’s what kept the show from collapsing in my opinion. But starting in Season 8 they moved and the storylines were way different. Then Robbie married Katie and the once all male household was a thing of the past. Of course it was expected as the Sons were getting older and might start to go on dates and eventually get married but it just wasn’t the same. Then I think Steve getting remarried and having a daughter in the house is what ruined the show in my opinion, not sure how it continued for 3 full seasons. My Three Sons was originally known for a widower raising his 3 sons with the help of a male nanny and it should have stayed that way. The only females that should have came onto the show were the sons dates and later wives. All I can say is that MeTV should at least keep the early episodes on the air. The early ones are always the best in all shows. Sorry this was long I just agree that the first 5 seasons are the best and how sad the show becomes over time.
