I went to the thrift store without a plan but it was my first opportunity where the stars aligned to actually get there so I took it! My adventures lead me to an idea which will result in another video and tutorial. Unisex! If you like the song, it's: Shallow Reign - Forever

When I was a kid I had black Hermoine Granger hair, pointed crooked teeth, a larger build than most of the other girls, and the boys poked fun at me and nicknamed me "beast." I started wearing black clothes, chokers and harnesses and adapted the goth lifestyle, and when I look back at it I smile because they were right, I was a beast all along ^w^

It's amazing that you can find so many nice things in a thrift store. Where I live it's almost only old lady clothes in terrible colors and patterns that dominate the thrift stores. I loved shopping at Buffalo exchange when I was in New York. A little bit too expensive but boy could you find some amazing stuff in there!

If you can manage to make it to Long Island, you'll have much better luck in the thrift stores here. Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens-- They charge extortionate prices for what they have and here there's such an abundance and the stores are massive. You'll make out like a bandit.

When I go into a thrift store I primarily look for specific fabrics that the clothes are made of - primarily black lace or velvet! I found a kickass shawl/goth poncho thing at a Goodwill that is very Stevie Nicks which I snapped up. I've only worn it a couple times but damn if it's not pretty.

Pretty much all the thrift shops around where I live donate. I actually work/volunteer in a salvo's thrift shop(salvo's is short for Salvation Army) and while sometimes the stuff with original tags can be pricier, it's usually no more than $9. We also have different color tags being half price every week. For example; all blue colored tags this week were half price. And on thursdays if you have a pension card or health care card (welfare concession card) you get 20% as well. All the clothes that are out of season are sent to 3rd world countries.

I understand the frustration with some thrift stores but the prices were really not that expensive about the same prices goodwill would charge here. The tags show its a new item so it should command a higher price I think. As a resale store owner myself there is a LOT of overhead. But we rarely get items donated we buy t directly out of pocket. The reason some merchandise is marked up because dealers will come in and buy everything if its super cheap and flip it on ebay or other clothing stores. I would be one to do both sell in store and sell on Ebay......so I know the game, but I price it about half in store of what it would go for. They are just trying to make a living just like anyone else and with so much online marketplace they have to compensate somewhere to make up losses. Not as many people come in like they used to because people shop online. They are just trying to stay in business and be competitive. It does aggravate me as well when I want something within a certain budget and its higher than what I want to pay. And some stores even goodwill are out of there rabid ass minds

If they paid for stock, I would definitely be much more open to paying the higher price. I appreciate independent businesses having also been there. I didn't have an actual brick and mortar store, like you do though. It was online. I once ran an etsy store and had to price everything based upon what I paid for materials and after taxes still only made about $10 profit on each garment I made. Around the side of the building you see the pile of garbage bags of things people dropped off and if you stay out there long enough you'll see at least 3-4 cars dropping off more bags from their house clean-outs. They own about, I wanna say 5 (at least) of these stores on the island so they do incredibly well. What you don't see are the sections I tend to stay away from. They have a rack called 'The better rack' which features clothing from places like Target or H&M and they charge the same if not more than what it cost brand new and the cases up from where they have designer bags, shoes and jewellery (again, donated) from LV, Gucci, Coach, Prada etc for $100 a pop.

Yeah the southern thrift where I live mark up the prices too, I found genuine leather pants for $99 with the original tag still attached. The store price was over $300 which is a deal if the original store was selling them

That In Gear was from Forever 21 and some thrift shops do donate to charity. We have one that is for the SPCA. They donate like 20% SPCA help with sorting and things.

A good second hand store is hard to find. Where I live, most of the stuff are only useable if you are a petit fashion victim or a 45 year old heroin addict sort of person....or a kid, got a lot of really nice clothing for my youngest one there. But once in a while I do find stuff I can remake to something useful....and they are flat rate, wich meen all pants are one price, all jackets one and so on.

I hate the stigma with shopping in thrift shops with some people I’ve met. A lot of people think it’s for “old people” or “gross”. I moved over to the uk at the end of 2017 and am currently working in one that gives their funds to charity (We are a British Red Cross charity shop) and let me tell you, they’re some of the cleanest clothes you’ll find, even second hand. You’re constantly finding gems in them. Some stuff is even brand new with tags on it. You’d really be surprised what you can find ~

I got a full on Victorian embroidered printed black dress coat that was originally $139.99 for only $12 with the tags still on it wich was awesome. Not a fan of the buttons but I just bought metal Victorian style ones from Walmart to replace them.
